Romulan Singularity Set

trwarbucktrwarbuck Member Posts: 274 Arc User
Okay so I got the Romulan Reputation Tier 4 and worked all day getting Romulan Marks for this. 500 Romulan Marks! I have the Zero-Point chamber and I though Tier 4 gave the Romulan Hyper-Plasma Torpedo, the second part to the set.
So where is the F-in Romulan Hyper-Plasma Torpedo?! Why after a whole day of getting Romulan Marks did I wind up getting a piece of TRIBBLE Mk XII Romulan Plasma Torpedo that isn't even part of the Singularity Set?!
I want my Romulan Hyper-Plasma Torpedo!

The Singularity Set says it is suppose to be there. If it says it is there! Why isn't it there?
I have the first part of the set and The Reman Space Set Mk XII rare already.

There were issues with the Torpedo, and in tomorrow's patch, the torpedo will be put back. And the torpedo you DID get will morph into the set's Hyper-Plasma Torpedo, free-of-charge
    Was named Trek17.

Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

Thank you for explaining the issue EV.
By the way. What was the issue with it?

Would anyone mind posting a tribble screencap with the actual torpedo stats?

    EDIT: Nevermind, got it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/58729097@N06/8285296783/

It sounds like it works like the high yield salvo romulan ships are so fond of doing.

Really not liking the lack of any type of Acc mod at all on these weapons they are releasing.

awesome :)...they are getting that much closer into letting me turn my atrox into a reman warbird :D (weapon and ability wise...was just missing the x3 HYT) would you happen to know the cooldown between shots on that?

The Romulan Plasma weapons can be had in [Acc]x2 - I've picked up a set of Mk XII DHCs and Turrets (separate unlocks - tsk.) for my Kar'fi and they're very nice - expensive though.

I wonder if we will be able to use that with Torpedo-Spread... A High-Yield Torpedo-Spread, that could make my day :D

If we are not able to use Torpedo-Spread with that launcher, it will be a nice weapon for the back of my Atrox, Omega-Plasma-Torps for Torpedo Spread in front then...

Yes, it works with Torp Spread - 2 Torps at up to 5 targets :)

The issue was that Cryptic decided to push half-finished content to the live servers and pray that nobody noticed until they had time too actually finish it.

The entire reputation system is riddled with things like this.

Cryptic had a ton of time at the start of Season 7 to get their content in. Everything took 40 hours to do so a player would get to Tier 5 in 60 days at the earliest. Now it takes 30 days to get to Tier 5 at the earliest. So the devs lost a couple of weeks in secret development time where they could get incomplete items finished by the time anyone got to Tier 5 and no one would have known.

I agree, people complained about the length of time it took as well as the resource input so the devs changed it. Yes perhaps this lead to unfinished stuff, but that's what happens when you introduce deadlines and then push them back.

Personally, I preferred the reputation system as it was at launch, it took me longer and cost me more in terms of resources and would have been more of a challenge. Now it's just a mindless task I do on logging in as all it requires is EC.

I just think that at the cost of consumables, dilithium, expertise points and Romulan Marks and Omega Marks. They should leave the items as they were made.

The Regenerative passive skill that they are nerfing. Leave it alone! We paid the time and resources to get it! I don't care how many people are crying about it. The Borg PvEs is hard enough and isn't balanced in themselves. The darn gates can continue firing at you from close range all the way out to 22.5km (its happened to me several times). The game says 10 to 15km (15km on very few weapons) range on weapons, That is the way it should be across the board.

If they are talking about game balance. Allow more than five players to go into the Elite mission that you have to save the I.K.S. Kang, or the ELite ground missions or against the Borg Queen in any difficulty setting.

So if you aren't going to "balance" the difficult missions. Leave the items that we are putting our hard earned items into alone!

Cure Space Elite? I don't remember the last time any of my groups failed at CSE's bonus... it's face-roll-easy if your team knows what it's doing.

EDIT: BTW, I heard that you can reset your rep-skills with a full skill respec-all (not just partial). Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Yes - I've done it on three of my characters (I was respeccing them anyway) - make sure you hit 'clear all' and reallocate all your skill points or it won't work.

You don't push something to active service if it's not ready. End of story. Tardiness can be forgiven, foisting incomplete and broken work as a finished product cannot.

Amusing (but in no way surprising) follow up:

The T5 Romulan rep set is identical to the Mk XII Prototype Reman set.

Do we think this is more placeholder equipment or is it supposed to be the same with a different visual effect.

not good.. have that one already and it is resting in the bank..
such a shame - cause it's wonderful, but useless in comparison to KHG.

Being asked to grind to T5 rep and dropping tens of thousands of dilithium just for a slightly different skin is almost as ridiculous as having a not insignificant number of items related to a highly hyped change be completely non-existent.

The Romulan space set is not exactly the same as the Reman Space Set. The Romulan shield gives a completely different look. It is not the gaudy look that the Reman shield has. For the deflector, Reman has +3.5% to Stealth Abilities while Romulan has +1.8% to Stealth Abilities and +1% to Starship Stealth Detection. For the shield, Reman has 7829.2 Shields and 136.9 Shield Regeneration while Romulan has 7227 Shields and 150.6 Shield Regeneration while Reman has 7829.2 Shields and 139.6 Shield Regeneration. For the engine, Reman has +26.2 Starship Maneuvers while the Romulan has +26.2 Starship Attack Patterns. Sure they are minor differences, but they are not completely identical.

With the new test vendor on tribble's DS9 they're easy to compare. (So no I didn't take screenies, apologies).

Those are just very minor differences which barely have any impact at all. The Romulan Advanced Space Set is (currently?) an almost exact copy of the Reman Set and the Set Bonus is one and the same. Even the description is identical and actually refers to a Reman Set. I therefore hope this is just an accidental copy & paste error and not the actual Romulan Set we will receive on T5. I mean why would they offer the same set twice on T5? It makes no sence.

I would agree with the deflectors, but the shields and the engines have significant differences. +26.2 Starship Maneuvers gives more ship defense while Starship Attack Patterns improves the Attack Pattern skills. Whether they will further change these sets are different, I don't know, but I doubt they will change the look of the Romulan Shield since it looks different enough. Would be nice if they had different set bonuses.
