question is in the title, im considering buying a fleet torp to replace my old borg torp. ive heard a mix of things on this matter so i decided to get some expert opinions on the subject. im interested in either quantum or photons with 2x purple projectile weps officers attached. also does anyone know if the [borg] proc on torpedoes works or not? thanks for the help :)

The [borg] proc on torpedoes only worked half the time and only in a single stf. plus it does nothing against non borg anyway.

I don't think the advanged fleet torpedoes are worth the investment. You are much better off with some nice mk12 purple with stuff like [acc]x2 [crth or crtd]. They are universal useful no matter what and where you have to use them.
As tac i would suggest to use quantums, your tac abilities will make the most out of the higher burst damage, especially together with purple projectile doffs, for others photons, plasma, chroniton or even transphasics are worth a look depending on what your build is about.

well i am a tac but im interested in photons because i run an armitage and have an alternate build centered around the console so i use photons for that

If you are running the Armitage and intend to run a Photon damage console its worth it to go Photon and get a bonus on your torpedoes and your torpedo console.

The Armitage and the Defiant are favorable to Photons; the Armitage because of its console and the Defiant because it can keep its guns on target better than almost any other Federation Escort.

Having Projectile Weapon Officers for your torpedoes (and running dual torpedo skills) makes for a very high rate of fire. With the Armitage you can for example fire a scatter volley from your cannons and then fire several spreads of Photons and hit a target at range, if you are doing Cure Space that means you don't need to get close to the cube to kill the BoPs. If you can get enough spike damage to bring down shields on NPCs at 8 km and let your torpedoes do the rest you can stay out of range of a lot of nasty stuff they try and throw at you. Its a different tactic than some use but its very effective.
My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug. :D

They are all over the exchange, You must have something set incorrectly on your search. and in responce to the original question, I love the Fleet weps. They hit harder than most any other weps out there, Expensive yes. But if you have the Dil then go for it.

I personally think you should get mark 12 or even fleet fear as the
Borg ones are only good for stf's but their DPS is lower than advance fleet gear.

I've noticed an overall dps increase when I swapped my chroniton torps for advanced fleet gear.

If your fleet plans on getting to T5 Fabricator, then wait for Elite Fleet Space Weapons, because Advanced Fleet weapons are not dramatically better than Mk XII [acc] [CrtH] [Borg] weapons.

ive already upgraded most of my weps to adv fleet weps and they have out performed the borg weps by miles in my humble opinion. and i run a small fleet so t-5 is a long way off not that ill upgrade to elites anyways with the being phaser only, i prefer antiproton on my armitage. also that 180 quantum is really pointless on an ascort due to the turn rate lol

Advanced Fleet weapons with [Dmg]x3 [Acc] / [CrtH] will out perform [Acc] [CrtH] if your captain's base critical hit rates are near the normal 2% base stat. However, bonus [Acc] over 100% translate into extra Critical Severity, and [CrtH] increases the frequency of Critical Hits, so the two synergize better than [Dmg] x3 as base critical hit rates go up.

My toon now has 11.8% base critical hit rate unbuffed, so Mk XII borg STF weapons still deliver performance that rivals Advanced Fleet Weapons. As a result, I might as well skip Advanced Fleet weapons and wait for Elite Space weapons instead.
