Romulan Hyper Plasma and PvP

So this...
/snip (talking about the fix for the Rapid that folks got instead of the Hyper)

The Hyper-Plasma Torpedo is built around the concept of multiple targetable Plasma Torpedoes (as seen used by D'deridex NPC ships) and functions as follows:

- The Standard Fire launches 3 targetable torpedoes at the primary target, over the course of 3 seconds. Each projectile deals approximately 68.8% of the damage that would be dealt by an equivalent standard Plasma Torpedo.

- Using a Torpedo Spread upgrade results in 2 targetable torpedoes of approximately the same magnitude as the primary fire, heading towards 3, 4, or 5 targets at Rank 1, 2, and 3 respectively.

- Using a High Yield upgrade launches 3 targetable High Yield Plasma projectiles at the primary target, over the course of 3 seconds. Each projectile deals approximately 45% of the damage that would be dealt by an equivalent standard Plasma High Yield.

I can see playing around with targetable projectiles in a place like Ker'rat where you might run into folks that won't obliterate them... but in general, they're just going to get lost to AoE, eh?

I can't remember the last time a D'd hit me with those...can you?

Course, maybe in Ker'rat, eh? I've been dorking around with a double THY 2x Plasma, Cluster, Tric build there. Sure, the majority of time they're disappearing to CSV, FAW, Theta, EWP, mines, pets, or just being shot... but uh, it's kind of funny when all four hit.

edit: And yeah, I'm curious about dropping out a THY Omega, the 3x THY Hyper, the Cluster, Tric, and new Breen... but I'm just flaky that way.

Interesting point, but, Ker'rat (or what is considered PvP in ker'rat) and PvP are two completely different situations.

    Two things:

    1. In PvP you'll be watching for FAW or CSV to drop off, then time it like anything else. Also, given the amount of spam we have these days psuedo-AoE stuff is already hitting its max number of targets. I've watched tric mines walk right though AoE because there are too many other things to shoot at.

Edit: Also, if the Reman set boosts these then they will be fast. Plus since they're not on a long cd like trics they'll be coming in faster than true AoE PSW can come off of cd. It's probably going to be GW for targetable projectile suppression if these get a lot of play.

    2. *Ahem* *taps mic* Is this thing on? It is? Ok...

Borticus, "reducing" the damage to 45% per PHYT is still going to produce out of whack damage if the "one crits all crit" function is still active.

"Size" has carefully been removed from the BB code or I would be using it.

I brought this up in the the thread I originally quoted.

    "Regular 3x 68% = 204%

    THY1 3x 45% of 300% = 405%
    THY2 3x 45% of 350% = 472.5%
    THY3 3x 45% of 400% = 540%

If it follows the 300%, 350%, 400% for HY Plasma... as compared to a normal Plasma torp."

A THY3 Hyper will do ~140% damage more than a THY3 Plasma if all three hit...

...I hadn't even thought about the "One Crit, All Crit" chance.

    That could be painful.

As to the rest - it almost always seems that there's spam on the board. Sure, Target A's FAW may have fallen off - but Target B's CSV is running or Target C's FAW is going - or Target A-E has dropped Theta, Mines, EWP - or there's just a buttload of pets out there.

I have to admit though, I've been on both the receiving end and delivering end of that targetable projectile that seems blessed and never gets hit by anything before reaching the target. I admit, I had a deer in headlights thing going on when one was coming toward me. It was like, no way - something's going to hit it... watching, waiting, watching, waiting, boom...lol.

Keep in mind KHG 3 part now gives AoE defense boost. Though I haven't run tests to confirm it works on torps/mines, just assumed it does.

So we can make the targetable projectiles have a defense rating that makes them hard to hit? Considering you basically get 1 shot at them if they're launched under 2 km, that's diabolical. See, this kind of thinking is why I read forums. :D
