So why did you do that? And when will it be back, or will it?

I assume its not ready for deployment. When Season 7 went live, they had over 2 months to go before someone would reach Tier 5. Now, it only takes just over a month to get to Tier 5. So they have less time for things to get complete and if they take it off the list, then they can put it back without people complaining about it not being available, but says its available if they don't get it done on time.

I'm sad, it was the item I wanted the most. I love flamethrower :(
I hope to see it back soon. And not being underpowered.

Removal almost certainly means massively overpowered or some other exploit.

If it just didn't work they would leave it in.

When they put it back, they need to add an FX when you kill something with it, they burn up like the Borg Queen in First Contact.

That was 'melting', not burning up with the Borg Queen.

Thank god that there are no cute, girly dresses in this game. Otherwise I would now get the flamethrower for a BO named Dorothy with pigtails and a white and blue dress. Oh, and red shoes.:D

    This.

It will return to the project list soon, but there are a couple bits of new tech that need to be installed before this weapon lands in the hands of players.

Fair enough. I hope it gets installed soon. It's about the only Romulan Gear Item that has piqued my interests. ^.^

Something like this would be nice for the winter event. See how the snow men like it when we crank up the heat.

Darn, well, better to have it gone (I HOPE not for very long), and return usable, than broken completely.

Color me a little bit jaded here Bort, but isn't it rather bad form to push a system to live that you know is unfinished, with the hope that you'll be able to finish it before anyone notices, especially when said system is one of the biggest selling points of a major update?

As mentioned, there was no way to finish it so fast when it was released, because it's a time based reputation system. Since they changed it to be shorter, people are faster, but that was not planned. If it haven't been changed, you wouldn't even know about it, as planned.

It's pretty common to add unfinished stuff to MMOs. Most raids and endgame content are not finished when a game is released, because people have to make their leveling first, then find others to do the raids. Even if you are hardcore and finish the leveling fast, you can't do the raids solo. And while they do that, you can finish it.

However, if they had delayed the new romulus release for 1-2weeks, saying "the flamethrower is not finished, but everything else is", people would have complain, saying it's just a gun, how they don't care, and "release it, you'll finish the gun later" (what's they are doing right now).

I want the flamethrower badly. It's the biggest reason of why I'm doing the Romulan grind. However, having to wait for it while everything else is available is the best way IMO. In any case, the flamethrower is not ready, so it's not a big change.

no one should be reach tier 5 for another 2-3 weeks (give or take) so they might be able to sneak it back in before anyone even gets there.

If the flamethrower was the only thing borked about the system, I might agree. But it isn't, not by a long shot.

It's another 4 days until me and my fleet mates reach Tier 5. In those 4 days, Cryptic will be rushing to get the flamethrower out and we all know that rushing leads to some boo boos.

if they fix the "video lag", then they have a few more instances of plasma fires producing bad FPS to fix

It will return as soon as the Devs come back from their christmas/new year vacation.

They needed to take the flamethrowers with them because they forgot to thaw they birds in time for the christmas dinner and the flamethrower was the only way to get the job done in time.
