Look, OP, you can't have all of the best goodies on one ship, that's just not the way this or any other game works. The first thing you have to learn about any MMO is how player class abilities balance and how to pick from among them. You didn't learn this before spending money on an optional upgrade. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, but NOBODY offers refunds on digital goods.

his problem is, that he simple did not read anything up on what he bought, or how the game worked (also saying that a DSSV is superior to a patrol escort is a fail in it self, considering the current game mechanics)
He buys one ship from the store, and another from the Exchange. He decides the science ship from the Exchange is more fun than the one he got from the store and asks about a refund policy. What's so wrong about that?
What's wrong was that he made his purchases apparently without any understanding of how bridge officer powers work, which are a really simple thing that it's nearly impossible to level up without learning about. That would have earned him some insults on its own just for being so stupid, but then, when someone explained to him how clueless he was about extremely basic functionality of STO in a direct but not overly insulting manner, rather than thank them for explaining this information that he should have been able to learn at like level 20 he responded by calling them a no life basement dweller.
Yeah, i see where your coming from. It's only really worth it if you get the discount for having previous editions of that ship, which last time i checked you guys don't get do you?
But $20 is not worth it for a couple extra HP and Console slots, unless your really into PvP.
The C-store ones are acountwide unlock, Type 6 hull plating, and most of them have a funky gadget.
We now get it for the B'rel retrofit and the Varanus. But yeah, KDF was kinda shafted when it came to the discounts.

Because he says he'd like to be able to use some higher level science powers on his escort? As I've already said, he doesn't say he expects to be able to use them, just that he'd like to. I'd like to use some higher level science powers on my Defiant retrofit too, but I know it's not going to happen.
Because he makes a comment in his first post saying 'unless someone can tell me how to use these powers, I'd like to know if I can get a refund'? Do you really think he was expecting someone to come along and say 'Well, you do it like this...' Anyone who has played the game for more than 3 or 4 levels can blatantly tell that isn't going to happen. I'm guessing the concept of sarcasm is lost on most people here.
And honestly, that post you are referring to where someone explained 'how clueless he is'... If it was directed at me, I'd find it insulting too. "Lt Cmdr skills... they are the ones with the 2 little filled circles and one empty one" like that little symbol isn't plastered to just about everywhere that mentions Lt Cmdr rank in the game. It read like the person that posted it wanted to treat the OP like he was 6 or so.

Also guys, 'superior' means it is better in his opinion. That doesn't necessarily reflect actual in game mechanics. If you ask me, I'd say the Defiant retrofit is superior to the other ships in the game, because that is the ship I enjoy flying the most. It might not be the ultimate ship for taking out others in PvP, and it might be a little squishy when it comes to taking massive damage, but it is still my favourite ship, and so in my opinion is far superior to the others.
