If you're unfamiliar with Steam, know that it's a bad time to buy a promo pack... if you can wait, around Christmas they'll be having another mega-sale and you can save like 50-60%.

I have created a Steam Account and purchased the Promo Pack.

I am not using the Steam Version of STO because of my slow internet connection it would take to much time.

Dan Stahl said in the last Ask Cryptic that I don't have to use the Steam STO. So where can I get the redeem code from without downloading the Steam STO?:confused:

    thanks for any help

    Here's what you do.

    1) Buy the pack.

    2) Start downloading the Steam STO. You don't have to fully download it.

    3) Cancel the download.

    4) Go into your downloaded content (on Steam's website), you should see the key.

    5) Log into your STO account on PWE's website, go up to My Account, then go to Redeem Key.

    6) Log into the game, go into the C-Store, redeem your Steamrunner pack.

    7) Go to ESD and buy the ship.

Are they any good as compared to my Polaris/Sol class (which I totally love but I'd much rather have a Steamrunner)?

    You're comparing apples and oranges...

The Steamrunner's better, but not as a Science vessel (it only has an Ensign Science seat). It's a tough little escort that's basically a Jem'Hadar Attack Ship wannabe. (Though that thing always gets upgraded to be the best escort around for some reason, even though it's just a frigate as an NPC and is basically just cannon fodder in DS9)

It's an escort that can take hits like a cruiser. It tanks, with a Tac driver, better then my Flor'Kaht with an Eng driver. Turns great, looks great (despite numerous problems with the model/textures, and is just a lot of fun.

I run mine as a torp boat and spam HY3 pretty much endlessly. Love it.
