The reputation passives being a permanent selection is something I have seen many players complaining about and I too feel a need for change. (This post is mostly in the hopes that a dev or someone that can communicate with a dev and relay the message reads it, but feel free to voice your support)
The main reason being that some of them sound like a good choice but then end up being ineffective. For example I do a lot of ground STFs and both my weapons which are both single shot weapons, not aoe, full auto or anything else that adapts quickly, adapt before my integral remodulation recharges (usually have 5 secs left on recharge when second weapon adapts), so I picked the Omega Tier 3 passive that slows borg adaptation thinking it would solve my issue. I was wrong, still have about 3 very annoying seconds before my remod recharges. I would gladly change to the shield recharge passive since its useful outside of STFs, but that isn't possible. Others have issues with the healing and shield boost passives not being useful compared to the damage ones and want to change it. Another issue is there is no way to test out the passives to make sure you will like it other than doing it on the test server which would require you to grind through the system there too which is not something a lot of people have time for or even want to do, myself included.
So as a dedicated lifetime member, here is my proposal; make it so we can use respec tokens to change the passives, this seems like something we should already be able to do anyway in my opinion. That way instead of just hoping that you pick the right one, we can try each one out and then make a choice based on what you think is more useful, not what you hope is more useful. Plus I don't know about other players, but I have only ever used 1 respec token, and if I had to guess I would say that by now most players have found a skill setup that they like and won't change, so you can also think of this as a reason for people to buy respec tokens, as I am sure people would like to test each ability.
The devs have said they're working on a respec for reputation skills, probably through a project that resets your rep skill points. I've also heard some player's have had their rep skills reset after respeccing their captain skills. Probably a bug or oversight.
I was thinking about choosing slower adaptation myself, but I may just opt for the shield regeneration instead.
Hmmm, i was unware of that the devs were working on this, I spent a lot of time searching the forums to see if anyone else had made a similiar post, but couldn't find anything. Thanks for the info, I am tempted to try to respec now and see if it works.
I opted for the shield regen passive, because I'll be fighting more folk than the Borg in general, and I do fine on the ground against Borg as it is.
Yeah, I opted for the shield regen because we're not going to be fighting the Borg forever, and once you have a full ground set for the instant Remod... well, all in all the slower adaptation perk is kind of a waste.
My only real issue with the abilities is the nanite end ability for omega.
It basically makes my medic feel like its all of a sudden become useless. Once everyone has got that they won't need a healer, just pop it whenever someone drops. Good job...
Next they will be dishing out AoE pulse damage that renders weapons useless.
Heck if were lucky we might even be able to get a bot to play the game for us. That sure would be cool

Isn't the cooldown on those nanites 10 minutes? Or am I not remembering right?
There is actually another reason that i would like to see them offer respecs on this (and racial traits) as well. Whenever major rules changes have happened in the game, they have often nullified or completely changed the effect of a trait or skill in game. With skills we have been able to adapt to the changes by simply using a respec and adjusting appropriately. Traits are another story. Crossfire made worthless a large number of traits, or vastly effected their efficacy. Considering time and effort was often put into builds that used these traits, its a bit silly to not allow us to adapt to make our character suit the new system. I've posted on this in the topic in the past, but it has been some time. To make a specific example however, Crossfire nullified the value of one ground trait in particular: Fury. Fury is the Andorian trait that causes an increase in damage as your health drops. The problem with Fury is that you are likely dead before it actually provides a useful benefit. Since being dead does not allow you to use the trait in question, there really is no point in having the Trait. Other traits were also damaged in the restatting of numbers such as Peak health, Resistance, etc. Now take this to the new system. Suppose for a moment that a particular trait is good now, and due to an unforeseen 'rebalancing' it is nullified or made useless. Do you think it fair to force us to keep that Trait, when we could not have properly expected them to destroy its value? That's the danger of Nerfs without Respecs. I've personally not picked up any of my new Reputation powers yet, because I'm watching and waiting to see what the assessments are of them. Even so, I really hope they allow for a respec of this and Traits. It really is only fair.

I thought of a respec for racial traits a while back too, would love that since my first toon (which was made about a month after launch when I first started playing) has traits I don't really need since at the time I had no idea how the game worked or because change has made them useless, like these new rep passives I just picked what sounded good/useful at the time and now i am stuck with it. That is why everyone needs to post about it till the devs see it is something we all want and would improve the game quality. Unfortuantely, despite the fact that I have been told it is on the list I was still unable to find a post from a dev saying that they are working on it or even acknowledging that people want this, so until then I don't see reason to think otherwise, since only a dev would actually know that it is being worked on. If anyone can relay a post from a dev stating this, or related to the topic, that is recent enough to take affect in the near future then please do so.

To be honest I was kind of expecting the tier 5 ability to be completely different for the three classes. Like, Science gets the AoE revive & heal, Tacticals get an AoE ally buff & enemy debuff, and Engineers get some sort of AoE super-shield booster.
Having all classes get the same is just plain lazy.

It's further made lazy when there's no choice when with the previous four tiers there's a choice. I don't really care about a ground ability. Why is it shoved down my throat? I get irritated with ground combat in general. We might as well not have personal shields they're nearly useless but are ****ing amazing for computer generated enemies. Gets underneath my damn skin.
But back to the laziness, why do I have to have ground **** shoved down my throat? I wouldn't mind it if any of it made a real difference. As things stand, it really doesn't. I will still do the whole duck and cover thing or else get ***** by the typical elite borg drone or whatnot that has a modern day 2409 version of the tommy gun.

Thank you for your time.
Personally thats a very very bad idea - in my opinion respec tokens are far too precious to waste on a single skill or a five tier tree skills (5 in all) - They are costly as it is in the CStore.
Also keep in mind they are costly to earn - that is the Personal rep system. It cost a player to progress through the thing.
Make the Personal Rep respec to use Fleet credits or Marks, thats a better option and more suited for that system.
But general respec tokens - Leave those alone and where they should be, "General Skill Tree resets only"
A member of our Fleet did a normal respec this weekend and it reset his rep skills also.
while that is cool and all...i would much rather be able to respec just my rep passives, because like everyone else has said, they are found to be useless.
and no i do not want to pay 500+ zen for a rep passive tier respec....250-300 zen is much more reasonable.
yes i have supported cryptic/pwe once every 2-3 months for if something cool is out and looks worth getting....but i do not want to be paying 500 zen every time i want to respec if i make a mistake in repsecing....
with as much as this TRIBBLE costs i would think you would get both passives per tier.. or at least be able to switch them freely.

What a terrible post. Can't someone else say the same thing? Why do I have to have space abilities forced on me? Ground is everything, space combat is boring TRIBBLE.
The way STO deals with selectable traits is pretty poor, the racial traits are awful and after all this time the number of people stuck with bad traits that can't be changed is just wrong.
Q: (wesleycrasher) When will we see the much anticipated re-trait token in the c-store?
Dstahl: This has recently been moved up in the schedule so that it will release with Season 8.
So Re-Trait tokens are coming in the first half of this year, according to released info.
Maybe just following the site posts would solve most of these concerns,
I wonder how many ignore them and then complain and ask about things that were already answered to in the main page posts.
About the rest, please bring back doff system alive as it was prior to dilithium extortion on academy services.
I still dream from time to time about using the Gateway to doff off-game in spare minutes as we were told
