So, Feds are getting the Andorian ship eventually...

...let's get the normal arguments outta the way, shall we?

Blah blah, Feds get a new ship, blah blah blah. KDF isn't getting a new ship, yadda yadda. We're only 16% of the player base, etc etc.

And so on.

I am just looking forward to killing another ship that DOESN'T have a saucer, two nacelles, etc to blow up in Ker'rat.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.

While i'm annoyed that it's been close to 10 ships since our last release (not counting box ships and the vet ship), so long as the new ship doesn't have yet another game-breaker (team fortress anyone) and we still have the torkaht...then it's whatever.

That vet ship is pretty sweet, wouldn't mind getting my grubby little hands on it someday (907 days from now).

Course a fleet Pach or a discounted T5 C-store ship would be nice as well.

It's a FED ship which will be piloted by FED players, so even if the Andorian Ship gets ridiculously superiour stats and a 10-console layout like the last additions to c-store/steam it will still be (in most cases) easy prey. A large part of the FED-playerbase seems to think that slapping beam arrays on their ships is the best build this game has to offer.

It's mind-boggling how many beam Vestas and Steamrunners are out there ...

    Its not a surprise.
Back when the Devs annouced the new ships for teh KDF, what they where and that they would be released first before the feds got thiers they set the stage for this.
Its merely playing out on the vessels that where already in the works or had been asked for a long time by the feds.

I'm not taking it as evidence we will never get another vessel made for us, though I have no illusions that we are currently in the limelight at the moment iether.

All we can hope is let them know what we wish and hope it comes in season 8 and the Devs dont follow old habits.

In fact thats all we can do at all. Wait and see if S8 is what we have been told or if it gets set aside again for some reason.

I don't mind as much, but I would love to see more variants of existing models with differences "under the hood" as a quick low-cost way to catch us up. Additional models for those variants can be made at a later date, imho.

I suppose with something as complex as the Vesta or Andorian ships, that's not as easy, but I could see a broadside Kar'Fi variant (with all the specs of an Andorian broadsider and no hangars), a Corsair with Vesta specs, and a Qin with whatever the escort-hybrid they come up with to complete the Odyssey/Vesta/??? set.

Sell enough on the C-store to warrant it and *then* make us a model/skin for it.

Not all of them. two and a half years ago I saw on the engineering reports that an andorian ship wasi n the works. Now I've always liked Andorians, and hated Vulcans, so i rolled an Andorian Tactical toon. So I'm quite happy.

I know what you mean, one of my mates whose been playing longer than me was doing that and complaining how squishy it was! He also didn't seewhy it would be so powerful as I was complaining about.
So I sat him down explained Boff powers and DHC 101. Now his game has been upped and he's quite surprised a the abbillity of this beast.

I'll be able to smash through andorian hulls with my krenn destroyer, and I'm fine with that. I just wish we get at some point a truely aggressive escort, the ones we have are rather tanky but aren't up to par with the dps of a fleet defiant. :(

    We need a shuttle.
    We need a science ship.
Any updated Raider would be awesome. I can't vote for a Raptor if it doesn't have a battle cloak.

More ships for Feds simply means more ships for us to destroy ;) We've made do with what we have for awhile, and we'll continue to do so
    Was named Trek17.

Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.

    Honestly.

I'm still waiting for a Lieutenant General level Science Ship. Don't get me wrong, the Varanus is great and I'd love to see a refit and/or fleet version for higher level players, but even at it's own tier it's still outclassed by its Federation counterparts. The stats and power bonuses just don't compare. That's not even mentioning the refits, fleet versions and C-store ships the Federation side has.

The only thing I can do is just use a carrier and try to make due with it the best I can. It's not really my play style, but if I use anything else it's an even bigger struggle at level 50.

It kinda sux, but it isn't enough for me to switch sides. Hopefully Cryptic mixes it up soon.

Give the Klingons the same ship, but like the Mirror ships, a different console and bridge layout.

Instead of it being a new Shiny ship, make it slightly modified and battle worn as if the Klinks stole the ship and killed all the crew on board.

I use a Beam fitter vesta to good effect... but then Im a science officer that concentrates on my Sci abilities in PVP to truly annoy the primary target I have afew sci heals to help keep me alive longer a decent power setup with a nice spike, and a way to get the hell out of dodge when I become the focus

Maybe Pwe is giving the fed soooo many ships so that they get confused which one to use when and how and never be able to use their ships as well us we the KDF do cos we really get to know our ships if only for the lack of choice...

This is pretty much what we're forced to do. In a way, it plays well into the KDF approach. . .making existing ships adapt to new roles that they weren't really designed for. It's not optimal, but it works.

Why not just make it a cross-faction ship that both sides can buy. It seems like 90% of the work involved in adding the ship is the art resources, making the mesh doesn't have any horrible glitches when you use skin X or paint job Y. And the script bits are surely almost identical between the two factions, with just some names and dependencies changed for faction-specific things.

    :-/

I don't think anything will change anytime soon.
We're still the minority and our very background dictates a minimal variety of ships.

    It's a blessing and a curse.

Cryptic is the entirely wrong company to run a Star Trek MMO. Never have never will.
They did not know what a great licence they took over from Perpetual and made big promises before realizing they couldn't make them real. That is how KDF was created.

First Zinkiwicht old us KDF would come, which never happened and now Stahl is talking the same again.

Cryptic will never make KDF a full faction. Never ever. They will hold on as much players as possible, squeeze out money for PW and then simply pull the plug on the game.

Hello boys, just popped my head in to see what is up. Haven't been playing on here since... August or September I think. I see the factions are still very unbalanced, the Foundry is out of order yet again, PvP is up in arms about an exploit, and they posted a cheese cake mascot on the homepage.

Well all very much the same old, same old stuff going on as usual. I haven't invested much money in this game but I am considering why I would want to when they constantly ignore the life blood of any game, the players?

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year!

Cryptic could with very little work give the KDF some C-store level 50 refits and fleet versions of existing KDF ships.

I'd rather get that than live in eternal hope of them making something new from scratch.

I think Cryptic shouldn't be so concerned with profits per ship rather than profits on the whole. Right now Cryptic loses money on making kdf-ships compared to fed-ships, I wish they could see the bigger picture.

Or, they don't care about maximum gaming efficiency as much and prefer an authentic Star Trek look over the most un-Trek like armaments the game offers as top DPS build.

Show me one ship firing in canon that even looks remotely like what we get if we load up with dual heavy cannons and chain rapid fire and scatter volley.
Not even the Defiant did it in that an extreme way and used beams on the rear instead of turrets.

I know, it boggles the mind that Star Trek fans play the game to enjoy the world of Trek instead of being ueber in PVP, right?

You know, I wouldn't even care if the same persons would not constantly complain over STFs being to hard for them and KDF being overpowered while they seem to believe that six beam arrays should kill everything on sight.
