Not 100% sure but i did a mission in the new sector block called Beta Lankel.
The system is crawling tholians and you have to scan some relics. as i finished i hit the warp out button, and i saw what looked like an iconian ship and my bridge officer mention a strange ship but alas i was already on the way out.
i did the mission again and nothing appeared, so its probably one a random turn up (or i imagined it as my ship warped out).
anyone seen anything in that system? could be a possible fight with the ship or could be something else.
I think there may be some random encounters scripted into the new Patrol missions. I did a full patrol run on Tribble during the test weekend and saw nothing out of the ordinary. Yesterday I did a patrol through pretty much the same systems and in one of them the Enterprise came in to assist.
The universe has a wonderful sense of humor. The trick is learning how to take a joke.
Yep, it's there. The Beta Lankal system is the only place I've seen this ship besides the end of the "Taris" story mission.
It seems to be eerily off in the distance after one of your bridge officers notifies you about an unknown vessel. If you try to get close to it, it will scan the area, then warp out.

It appears (and even briefly talks to you) in one of the Undine arc missions.
Basically it's another artifact of Cryptic pretending STO has a story.
Is it just me or does the Iconian ship reminds you of the ghost rider motorcycle?
I was thinking of the Shadow from Babylon 5, myself.
How the Devs see Star Trek, apparently:
Star Trek: The Original Grind
Star Trek: The Next Grind
Star Trek: Deep Space Grind
Star Trek: Voyage to the Grind
I was thinking of the Shadow from Babylon 5, myself.
Shadows. They're a species, not an individual entity.
And while there is a vague resemblance to the scout vessels we see during the Shadow War, the Iconian ship isn't anywhere near spiky or crab-like enough.
Speaking as a very well-respected member of this dubious Starfleet that will be destroyed soon,
I must inform my fellow targets and victims of this great United Federation that that was not an iconian ship designed to scout and plan a future attack on this weak quadrant that will soon fall.
This was merely an illusion perpetrated by your obsolete and pathetic sensor technology, and is a simple case of space gas reflected off a space weather balloon. Some might accuse me of playing demon's advocate, but I must assure you that I am not a traitor and that I will die alongside the rest of you when this galaxy falls beneath the might of the iconians.
Please heed no further notice to other incidents of space gas and space weather balloons, my fellow victims of the coming onslaught. It is nothing to be concerned about.

I got a few screenshots:

---- There's a Tholian Orb Weaver down there, not caring at all about the Iconian ship.
