Omega Marks - 1500
Borg Neural Processors - 7
Dilithium Ore - 1000
Character 2:
EDCs - 89
Rare Salvage - 24
Omega Marks - 2000
Borg Neural Processors - 9
Dilithium Ore - 2000
I'm reasonably happy with the marks having seen the first few projects on Tribble and the rate at which I can earn them through STFs, but the rest kinda leaves me a bit disappointed.
114 EDC
2 Proto engine
22 Proto Salvage
1 Proto Shield
1 Rare Deflector
4 Rare engines
26 Rare salvage
---
3000 Omega marks
13 BNP
4000 Dilithium
Pretty shameful.
This is pretty interesting - I have 7 more EDC than you, 4 more Proto Tech, 18 more Proto Salvage and 14 more Rare Salvage (though no Rare Tech) and yet we both get the same?
I'd like to know the minimum we can hold back to get the maximum return from the Omega Marks and the Neural Processors - the Dilithium is irrelevant.
Which means that either the conversion is based on more than just what items you have...or its bugged to hell.
There was a post in this thread a few pages back that claimed that it's on a tier system. Effectively, if the amount of items you have falls into one ring on the dartboard Cryptic uses while blindfolded/drunk/both, you get X. If it falls into ANOTHER ring, however, you get Y. It's the dumbest way they could have possibly handled the conversion, short of simply deleting all of the items and leaving a troll face in your inventory. Why wasn't it on a per-item basis? Why do we need to be Tier 3 before we can use what we've already earned? And why, for the love of Q, are there no Omega mark rewards for Borg story missions?
I'm so glad I do not have stockpiles of resources and got lucky on my sets. Was once ripped when emblembs were converted...would suck to be ripped off again hehe.
"Cryptic Studio’s Jack Emmert (2010): Microtransactions are the biggest bunch of nonsense. I like paying one fee and not worrying about it – like my cellphone. The world’s biggest MMO isn’t item based, even though the black market item GDP is bigger than Russia … microtransactions make me want to die.”

What can I say, I'm a hoarder. Plus I was paranoid I would not have enough to buy the proto PSG, which I have never had drop, and you can see I have tried for it.

Sorry, I should have clarified. It's not obscene what you collected, it's obscene the rate of exchange for what you had. With the proto gear alone you're looking at well over 210k dilithium.
well, here's a data point for you guys to use as a reference point.
Drexela: (has done a few STFs, but did not have any EDCs or tech laying around)
no crate...
anyways... My hypothesis about why they do the teirs has less to do with wanting to rip people off and more to do with the mechanics of how the crates work. Basically, I think there are several sizes of crates and some sort of algorithm decides which size you get.
I don't understand what the hate is for the small amounts of dilithum.
from the looks of it, reputation projects don't require dilithum anymore, and your going to get a lot through all the other events for your fleets and your own use.
maybe i'm missing something here, just don't understand the hate.
i didn't have much so i'm only looking at 1000 omega marks and 5 processors and no ore. i wasn't going to turn my stuff into dil since i figured the marks and processors will help me more (i don't really like elite much to be honest).

You're still going to have to pay dilithium for gear if you want it.
And whilst yes, many players will have the Mk XII space and ground sets, most likely they'll want the 'Adapted' sets. And the new Borg sets (Mk XII) and quite possibly the Romulan stuff - this will all cost Dilithium - hundreds of thousands of Dilithium.

This ^^^
You also need Borg Neural Processors at 10 per Mk12 item. Currently someone with 100's of edc's and 10's of prototech are getting 15 or so.

Fleet Base projects still require (copius amounts of) dilithium.
Omega/Romulan stores still require dilithium.
Dilithium store requires dilithium.
When you can cash out 100 proto salvage for 230k dilithium today versus 8k on patch day, I'd say that's a fairly sizable reduction. If we were getting, say, a third of that amount in dilithium and some additional OM/BNPs, that'd be another ballgame. But right now as it stands, it seems like we're getting the pretty short end of a very long and girthy stick.
plus in playing on tribble, the omega marks seem easy to come by if your gettting like 60 for one STF elite. 15 of the NP is only 15 runs of STF elite. The loot I have now is hundreds of runs being turned into 15.
So I cashed in about 250k worth of dilithium, but this is what I was left with... 6 more points for your record. I have included commodoreshrvk's "tier system":
Charlie 1:
404 EDC, 50 rare salvage, 10 proto salvage, 2 mk12 standard requisition
=> 3,500 OM, 15 BNP, 8k dil (tier 8)
Charlie 2:
187 EDC, 20 rare salvage, 10 proto salvage
=> 3,000 OM, 13 BNP, 4k dil (tier 7)
Charlie 3:
41 EDC, 20 rare salvage, 6 proto salvage, 1 mk12 standard requisition
=> 1,500 OM, 7 BNP, 1k dil (tier 4)
Charlie 4:
21 EDC, 20 rare salvage, 10 proto salvage
=> 1,500 OM, 7 BNP, 1k dil (tier 4)
CGK:
54 EDC, 20 rare salvage, 9 proto salvage
=> 2,000 OM, 9 BNP 2k dil (tier 5)
Gul C:
6 EDC, 10 rare salvage, 10 proto salvage
=> 1,500 OM, 7 BNP, 1k dil (tier 4)
I hope these examples help...
I would really like to know what the thresholds are between tier 4/5 and 6/7/8 as I think that is what I will aim for on my alts / mains.

Nope. That last one got exactly what it says. He also got more than my Fed Sci, who had 9 EDCs.
