So I know the console will no longer be part of the Borg Assimilated set. But according to the Dev blog, the stats, (including the +5 to weapon power, I assume) will stay the same. So...even though with the Borg deflector, engines, and a MACO shield you would only get ONE of the Borg regenerative procs, will you still use those three items together? Also, do you think you'll still want to use the Borg console, knowing it will at least boost your weapon power?
Just curious...
Don't let them promote you. Don't let them transfer you. Don't let them do anything that takes you off the bridge of that ship, because while you're there... you can make a difference.

Frankly the other set bonuses (except, perhaps, Aegis) are rather pathetic for my purposes. Plus on one toon that doesn't have the Borg console, I already run two Borg piece plus MACO and he does just fine.
The devs are going to have to come up with a LOT better set bonuses than they have, because they seem to be one nearly-useless active ability combined with a passive ability only 25-50% of the potential users would ever find a use for. Note that I'm going off memory for this, but I'm pretty sure I'm fairly accurate with this assessment.
I run the Borg set on very few toons. Usually I do so until they can move onto bigger and better things. Only my KDF sci atm uses the Borg set currently, and that probably won't be staying forever anyways.
So, pretty much no on this. I felt it was a crutch awhile back, and started to phase myself out of using it. It's really very useful, but really acts as a crutch IMO without using your own skills to keep yourself alive.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Nope. Doesn't proc that reliably anyways, certainly not when I really need it. Tet Glider on the other hand is less impressive but a lot more reliable.

Speak for yourself. I like my 2 KHG + Omega Engine + Borg Console setup
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
i probably will be running it for a while, just until i can get the KHG engine and shield on my fed toons...may add the maco deflector, or stick with the borg one. If i'm correct that should give me 15 more aux power and an engine that basically restarts anytime they get deactivated and has nice stats too.
Nope, already put them through the replicator on my main toons. Still keeping the console to try out the new set in s7
I only used 2 piece borg (Engine/Console) and 2 piece Maco anyways. Now that the console has been changed I saw no point in using the engine despite its faster sector warp speed.....
I have been playing with an Armitage on Tribble with MACO MK XII Shields and Borg Deflector and Engine MK XI (what the current ones become in S7) . Not too much different as both procs were random anyway. I'll probably keep running it on my Eng in the Armitage and might upgrade to the Mk XII Borg ones when I get up to that Tier. I'll see how the 2 piece Borg MK XI + MACO Mk XII works on my Sci captain with a Vesta when it launches, probably transitioning to Adapted set (basically KHG) for the nice Aux bonus.
My two KDF chars (both Tac) were both running with Borg Deflector with KHG shields and engines. I'll be keeping KHG shields and engines but dropping the Borg deflector for a Positron with boosted Structural and Shield Systems for more tankiness, as the three-piece KHG pseudo-cloak is nearly useless.
All my chars will be keeping the console on board, the extra crits and +5 Wep power are nice for everyone, and the extra Starship Graviton Generators it gives will help out my Sci's Gravity Wells. Plus, I'll get the Kinetic Cutting Beam on at least some of my chars, which is part of the console's set.

The 1 thing I hate about the KHG engines. No faster space travel opposed to the MACO engines.
Back on topic: I don't know yet, I've been playing around with the Mirror Qin Heavy Raptor a bit now and really liking it (BoP is just to fragile for my playing style). But when it comes to the sets I've been using the KHG shields + Borg Engines (switch them before combat to MKXII KHG) + Borg deflector and ofcourse the console. For the only downside I'm experiencing is the switch when going into combat. Half the time I forget to switch em.
I will grind to get the Klingon set for my Fed. But I'm tempted to use whole BORG set for my fleet nebula. The shield tanking potential looks great to me.
"Cryptic Studio’s Jack Emmert (2010): Microtransactions are the biggest bunch of nonsense. I like paying one fee and not worrying about it – like my cellphone. The world’s biggest MMO isn’t item based, even though the black market item GDP is bigger than Russia … microtransactions make me want to die.”
Aside from it being fairly slow in sector space (not a big deal in my opinion) it's proved a fairly effective setup thus far.
Really, I dont see how this is an issue? Just carry MACO engine in your inventory and swap it when you travel ?

Yeah...this is why I won't use it. It can proc when your hull is at 99% which can leave you in the dust when you might actually need it. The only time I would use it if I were designing a whole borg ship around the twin sets.
On my Tac Galor ive been using MACO shields + 2 piece Aegis and its not that bad, im still just as good as before, the 2 piece +10% defence while moving is so worth it and is much better than a lot of the 2 piece (and a hell of a lot of 3 piece bonuses - yes im looking at you STF sets)
Easily yes, especially on my tac escort. Getting almost a 3rd of your hull healed reliably with no cost on boff stations is a huge bonus.
Other 2-piece (heck 3-piece) set bonuses are pretty poor compared to that. To be honest the heal proc should be a 3-piece bonus with the tractor beam being a 2-piece.
I heard from a friend who went on tribble that the new Borg set is going to be significantly more powerful than the retro set. Any truth to this?
And on topic:
Without the 2maco2borg combo, I will probably end up going maco deflector and shield with the omega engine, or I might just go full maco set (even though that graviton beam is just... disappointing). I would go full KHG since that set is just sick, but I still have an issue with the covariant shield array. Not as durable as the MACO shield, and regenerates extremely slowly. Even with a TSS2, it still is slow as hell. I am probably set in my MACO shield usage. Resilient, good defenses, and has the power relay proc.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.
Yeah, I'm keeping it. The hull heal was the best feature of the set for my escorts anyway. I believe I may even go for the new cutting beam. I like my quantums, but I've got to at least see what the 2-piece weapon bonus on the new set does for me. So I'll put that beam in the back, between my turrets.
I tried it on Tribble
Maco and 2 pc borg is very weak compared to before. The borg shield proc was pretty large for an escort's healing ability, a cruiser can get away with it but escorts can't use this for anything but brief combat.
An example is the tholian red alerts, your shields will drop fairly fast with the maco and 2 pc borg, but with 3 pc borg I can keep them up for quiet some time. An escort isn't going to last 50 hull hits for the very rare 2% hull heal proc.
HELL NO!!!! i'll keep the console but rest got to go. i might us the engine for travel but that's it. but then again ill try the borg set first. if it upset me dew to TRIBBLE shields then i trash it:rolleyes:
I'm toying around with the full M.A.C.O. set with the borg console and the 360 degree borg cutting beam. I've always wanted a full range beam weapon, I'm more courious as to how well the cutting beam works, and how well the 2 seperate set bonuses will work together.

I did run the 2-piece Borg set on my Klingon though, with the KHG shield and deflector. I will be swapping out the Borg engine for the Aegis.
