so i've been watching the "personal reputation" system rewards from afar and i have to say.
they are complete BULL**** and a slap in the face of the pvp community.
why do you ask?
well, all of the bonuses you can get from the "personal reputation system" will drastically effect your ability to pvp. and the higher the teir the more drastic it is.
example- one of the rewards: 2.5% chance for beam damage to count as kentitc and have 100% shield pen chance.
now, we have a hard enough time with the regular procs of weapons, but this is insane. imagine a beam overload getting that proc and instantly vaporizing what you hit?
the siphion drone "fix" on tribble doesnt actually fix anyhting. it slightly slows down the drones drains but they still drain unlimited and rumor has is power insulators don't have any effect at all. (and if they do its completely negated by the fact that the drones have an unlimited drain)
assimilators need to be limited to 1 drop at a time, new drop replaces old one. this wouild completely fix this console.
tricobalt mines are making a comback. HOWEVER the mines themselves are fine. its the way theyre used and the "confirmed" bug about if one crits, they all crit that is the major issue.
tractors are still amajor issue with pets because now they chain tractor. maybe having it so only one runabout per squad has the tractor beam would fix this.
the science skill tree is still a mess.
borticus has all but said we're on the back burner because of "season 7". just like when "season 6" came out, and "season 5" came out too.
Borticus was also caught in a couple of lies in my "breaking news thread".
that thread pointed out that the personal reputation system currency and fleet marks couldnt be earned by pvp yet had huge impacts. he flat out said that they cant see a reasonable reason to tie those rewards to pvp, because pvp has no borg and has no fleet connections.
well... with season 7, all kinds of "team" pve will be getting fleet marks as rewards, and the foundry daily has fleet mark rewards. how are those "fleet only" types of things, yet TEAM pvp isnt?

then as was mentioned, he said that there are no borg connections to pvp, well it was kindly pointed out to him that kerrat and otha were completely based around the borg and still pvp.

Look, i know things are hectic, i know they don't care hardly anything about pvp, i just want the lying to stop and we get some flat hard numbers on when things will be done.
almost 3 years in and we're still waiting for those "promised" maps and gameplay additions.
I'd also greatly appreciate any "rewards" that have an impact on pvp have a way to EARN them via pvp. it makes no sense that the best items to have for pvp can only be earned through pve.

Just a few notes.
There's a display bug on Tribble right now that's indicating that you'll get +30 Weapon Proficiency or Weapon Training from some of the Romulan options. These are incorrect; the alternatives to Crit Chance are Personal Shield Systems and Starship Shields Systems.
The 5% Placate here is a bug - that was there as a placeholder. The alternative to Shield Regeneration is actually a 2.5% chance for your energy weapons to proc Kinetic damage with 100% shield penetration.
Within the scope of STO, Romulans are intended to primarily use Plasma weapons. We're also adding Plasma/Disruptor hybrid weapons to the Romulan reputation system, and some NPCs may be retrofitted to use these.
Unlike Jam Sensors, this Placate proc isn't fragile, meaning you won't break it from dealing more damage.
We'll be re-implementing these eventually, but they won't be in right at launch.
One of the new suites of consoles available in the Romulan reputation system has a function similar to this. It essentially adds a Plasma proc to non-Plasma space weapons, and if you're already using Plasma space weapons it increases their raw damage. This is in addition to having other functions, such as science stat bonuses.
These are always on - they work much like investing skill points. That said, the fact that there are two powers displaying weapon skill is a bug. Sorry about that.
As mentioned earlier, this is a bug. There shouldn't be any duplicate abilities; some of these were still placeholder when the patch went to Tribble. Sorry about the confusion.
We are closely monitoring feedback from both our internal QA department and public testers on the balance of these abilities. The tier 5 abilities are intended to be powerful, but they shouldn't be game breaking.

I've been on tribble. Looked at the reputation system. And it does not have ANYTHING concernign what ever you just stated. So I'd like to know if perhaps your not confusing it with the Borg Cutting Beam Set peice weapon?

I mean, there's the hint of the Rom console that adds a plasma proc to anything - so have to figure there's going to be a Rom secondary like there's the Borg secondary... will be interesting to see what comes of that.
They have delayed a patch, because of instability issues, unlike some other companies we can name, that just happen to run the forum.

Remember me telling you a week ago that I was worried about that placate. This is another uneducated decision by cryptic. Its unfortunate that the staff of cryptic can't even get on the same page. On one hand, we got Bort agreeing there should be no abilities that can't be countered. Then you got their devs and programmers designing horrible ideas such as a non-fragile placate. Do you guys understand how often a cannon escort running 7 cannons is going to proc this? And all this for what? No doubt in my mind its designed so cubes stop targeting them when it procs. Another broke mechanic revolving around pve'rs not being able to survive a cube...
Ya just give me back Jam Sensers Version 1 already... I want to blind and pew pew people to death again. lol
...but ends up boosting escorts as well.

Would work perfectly... of course I don't think half the Cryptic guys work at all with the other half... so what ever... they have till this launches to either force me on a lifelong vacation from STO or not I guess.
Doesn't help that their own devs can't code as well as they ought to. I understand that globals are easier to program, but... the globals are ironically favoring a certain build, or a certain something, instead of everyone.

and it just... its such a terrible addition, there are no words. all these stupid passives, its just more chance of random i win button going off, turning the player vs player experience on its head. slam forehead on space bar, wait for i win proc, receive victory. it lessens the skill requirement, just waiting for blind luck to win for you, and it WIDENS the gap between pedestrian and min maxed to the extreme builds. again, this is going to hurt low skill players the most, and have a universally bad effect on pvp as a whole.
NOTHING in game would TRIBBLE me off more then some DHC crit, also procing kinetic and killing me even though i have a strong active defense that it takes some measure of skill to keep intact. and when i trap someone is plasma, and let loose with my critH3 guns, am i going to be healing him more then harming him?
oh and every energy weapon causing a plasma proc, good job devs you really fixed the plasma weapon problem here didn't you. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT. so now everyone will be setting everyone on fire forever, regardless of what color your beam is. that wont seem kind of absurd or anything right? this isn't in fact an insult to everyone that just wanted it to be viable to use actual plasma weapons, and have the exclusivity of that proc, right? oh wait it IS :mad:
just like how an actual romulan faction is made impossible by season 7: smoother the romulans with kindness, there will also never be a day were we can equip plasma weapon, that require plasma energy tactical consoles, viably. this kills that, this is their fix. every plasma weapon drop will remain worthless forever, 1/6 of all possible energy weapons we can use.
this is really getting desperate, no one at cryptic is qualified to introduce stuff like this unless they FRICKING PVP. if you devs don't, you CANT know what your doing. and you cant just take away these stupid additions after you introduce them and they prove game breaking! the kiddies NEEEEEED them to kill their npcs now :mad:
this is different from over reacting about ES and RSP, this is a fundamental change to what ends up happening every time you fire your weapon. something you can do 1000-10000 times in a match EASILY.
I do like the suggestion of different procs depending on the type of ship piloted. I think that has real potential, and shouldn't be that hard to program, I wold imagine. Barring bugs, which never happen in STO :cool:
I'm not too proud to say I've been wrong before about cryptics decisions so I'll wait to see the finished product that is season 7 when they release it. This is the last chance I'm giving cryptic to see if they're listening or not. As those stats and passives are now, something has to be done to not completely TRIBBLE up pvp. If they decide not to listen, it'll be the death knell for me I'm afraid. The grind sounds horrible enough as it is. Making pvp even worse leaves me no reason (short of hanging out with friends) to stay.

Ya at this point I would say the only thing saving them is the fact that there is no really good space MMO alternative out there right now... if there was a MMO 90% of my friends agreed was worth playing every night... there really would be no reason to be here.
They have season 7 basicly ya... I will live with a bit of extra grind... if its insane I might be annoyed enough with that alone. If the passives and other junk they are introing are as PvP breaking as they look like on paper. Indeed I don't have it in me to leave and come back again, I'll gift my account to someone. lol
As long as they are not random oneshotting abilities, they:
- are available to all toons and ships
- have an internal cooldown and low proc
- are not p2w consoles
- are in the form of more damage or more healing, just like the doff procs
We will adapt to them, as we always do when there are new things.
Usually we complain because we have no time to test things on tribble and things go live broken, but this time we have this possibility and we can contribute with our feedback to make those power more balanced if this is the case.
Personally, i'm happy with the changes because they add more variables to our builds and they add possibilities to the existing ones.
Remember what happened with the ES\RSP cooldown thing? We complained and then the change was good. Of course there were times when the changes were wrong and we were not heared (psw nerf, bort, c'mon fix it plz), but we should thanks Borticus because this community finally has a dev listening and doing things, and this is good for us and for the game.
So you have found a super fast way to level up reputation to T5 prior to the release of S7? Or how exactly do you test these new abilities?
Exactly. I half expect them to break the replicators while trying to program a boff skill. Like how they somehow broke the exchange over and over again.

I'll just plod along slowly. First thing first, the starbase and building up a good doff portfolio. Maybe they'll nerf the rep system someday, and I'd rather not have sunk anything into that when it happens. But before that happens I need to have a good starship, and its not like the Romulans are giving out D'deridexes at T5.
So starbase and doffs. And saving up for an attack bug. TRIBBLE S7. And pvp for that matter. :P

Anything else - I already got used to the fact that I'm on the receiving end of PvE stick. I don't play PvE outside of Traelus repair mission from time to time to get some dilithium. So I will have zero reputation and no new toys. I don't have DOFFs outside what I get when I level up, I don't use STF sets cause I don't PvE. Why cares about another PvE addition that will make my STO experience even worse?
I can switch to SW:TOR as it has six stories for me to play through (unlike STO which does not have any). And yes, I bought SW:TOR this month in spite of it going F2P live. It can say even more about STO cause I spent on it my monthly MMO budget I intended to spent on Sao Paulo or Regent.
