Armor Console Question(s)

So...eventually I will try and get into some pvp but I was curious about armor and such.

What kind of armor is usually used, is it different than Neutronium Alloy? How many armor consoles are smart? How many Neutronium would be the minimum if I chose to use them?

Keep in mind I usually put Starship Hull Plating and Starship Armor Reinforcement to at least 6 in my specs.

You don't know what damage you will run into so Neutronium is usually best. I usually use 2 or 3 of them.

How many eng console slots do you have? One or two neutronium is generally best but if you have 3 or 4 eng slots you can run a combo of neutronium, diburnium (phaser/disruptor), and tetraburnium (plasma/tetryon/polaron/antiproton).
Ideally you'd keep your shields up all the time so heavy kinetic resist wouldn't matter as much.

Well various, I have a bunch of characters and I will still be making more! I fly all sorts of ships...all 3 types of captain and I have or will have about one type of about every type of ship in game.

In general 2 Neut armours is all you need... after 2 diminishing returns start to really make more pointless. At that point you are better off loading what ever makes sense on your build... Borg Conosle needs a home... RCS perhaps.

One Neut armour for the most part is all you really need... however when you get debuffed by other players in pvp having a second one will help for sure.

As Bob says some of the specific dmg types can be nice... to be honest I always just go Neut and suggest most people do the same... it protects you accross the board... unless you happen across a premade that all run phasers or something It think the neut is the way to go.

A lot of escorts are using Disruptor energy these days, perhaps use a Diburnium Hull Plating console on top if RCS isn't useful for your build? :)

    This ^

Of course it does depends on how many engy console slots you have!

:) I confirm that, also bring specific consoles in you inventory and swap if you see that they are better suited for the opponent

Not always as if you take 3 then due to diminishing returns you have a buffer against -10 or -20 resistance which will only drop you a few %. While 2 Neut armours will mean -20 resistance really hurts.

Diminishing returns doesn't start to kick in hard until you get near 100 resists. The %s are very misleading to most people. IE going from 0% to 50% resistance and 50% to 75% have the same result of reducing the damage in half even though it doesn't appear that way.

Even with that said though 2 are usually enough simply because of the resistances you can get from abilities.
