Any way to get a Fleet ship without a fleet?

I don't really have a fleet. Or at least not one with a lot of members. (It is just my real life relatives and friends.) And I hate grinding, and I'm the only serious PvPer in the fleet. As another point in the "problems" column, I have no interest in the fleet Starbase system, so I don't really even know how it works.

I want the Fleet Qin Raptor though. I have enough Dlithium to get 2,100 Zen, so I can buy the Ship Module things. But is there any way to get the Fleet Credits? At least any way that one guy could do all by himself, without a boatload of grinding? I don't have a ton of EC, about 9 mil, but I don't know if that helps at all. Also, I have no idea how to get a Starbase Shipyard.

So, is it just never going to happen, or is there a way I don't know about? Thanks everyone.

You are welcome to use the provisions from Sto'Vo'Kor's Rising. However, since FM are character bound you ll have to come up with a way of grinding 200K Fleet Credits for yourself.

You can join the PvE queues, and get the FM without being in a fleet. Once you have enough, you can dump them pretty much in one go aka convert Fleet Marks to Fleet Credits.

The officer report daily, and the doffs system are the most efficient means of getting FM.

Just mail me in game, and we can see what we can do :)

I figured as much. But the chart on the STO Wiki makes it looks like you can exchange Dilithium or expertise for Fleet Credits, ( http://www.stowiki.org/Fleet_Credit ) so I thought maybe there was same way to do that. As most long-time players, I have TRIBBLE loads of unused expertise that I would love to trade for something more useful.

Hey thanks! I haven't used the Doff system in a while. I got bored with it a long time ago. And I actually don't know what an "Officer report" daily is, so I'll have to check that out. Can you tell that all I do is Ker'rat and some Arena/C&H? :p

In any case, thanks for the offer, I may take you up on that.

hehe, one more reason to get you your fleetship. We've had more people ask for ships, and found solutions. Just PM me, and I'm sure you can be helped.

Just to be clear, you can get fleet credits by donating, expertise, Dilithium, Doffs and commodities (EC). So even without any fleetmarks it is possible, but having a few fleet marks will certainly help. Officer reports are single click missions, so it shouldn't be too hard to make use of those.

wouldn't hurt to have another donator at Sto'Vo'Kor's Rising :) the fleet qin is pretty crappy actually, even the non fleet somraw retrofit is a better ship. it has 1 better turn rate, a very useful ensign station, no pivot point issue, and its quite small. even though it has a smaller shield mod, it has a mysterious bonus shield hitpoints, with the omega shield it has more hirpoints then a qin will. there is also the scourge, with a 17 turn rate but no cloak. both are far better then any version of the qin, retrofit or fleet version.

Fleet Qin is only 20K fleet credits and sounds like he already has the resources for getting the modules, so hopefully not much grinding to do. Also, you'll need to check the latest prices on the exchange, but going Master Keys -> EC -> Fleet Ship Modules might cost you a bit less zen overall. If you go this route, just remember that ship modules are listed under data samples in the exchange.

Edit: I second dontdrunk's suggestion to consider the somraw or scourge instead.

    Hmmm...

What do you generally use the extra Ensign Eng for? EPtW? I would certainly like to have the better turn performance and correct pivot point, but it seems like thi Qin would be a little better at sustained DPS. But then again, with an extra EPtW to keep weapon power up, the Somraw might work too. (The mysterious shield points are a nice, but strange, bonus too.)

I must have my cloak, so the Scourge is out for me. But the Somraw DOES have its points of attractiveness... I will have to consider it.

Dude, Join a Fleet, there are some good ones out there
I've just never been a social person, ingame or in real life. I don't even like having a friends list, if I can't set it to "invisible mode" when I want to. But STO is the closest I've ever come to being a social gamer, so I guess it's "progress" :p

As with the Somraw, I'll consider actually joining a more serious fleet.

havam I read that as a serious fleet as opposed to the one he's in now with just relatives and friends.

Yes, sorry havam. I should have been more clear. I meant 'more serious than my current fleet'. See, I told you I'm not good at social gaming, accidentally insulting people who are trying to help me. :p

One thing you could do is start your own fleet, get its base to tier one, then stop developing it. A fleet of one is generally a bad idea, however this would allow you to accrue fleet credits and provisions.

Then you find a larger fleet with the shipyard tier you need, get invited to their starbase, and shop at their store. You'll have access to their higher-tier goods, but you'll be spending your fleet's provisions, not theirs.

And you don't have to waste further resources on your base once you've got everything you want.

No insults taken here, just misread your posts i guess.

You are more the welcome to become a member of SVR, if your gang of friends is strugling with the Starbase, why not come over together?

Anyways if you need 20K FC, that can be done very quickly if you have 400FM, at 50 a day that is 8 days, if you have EC its even faster. Since you need less FM.

Starting a new single person fleet works as well. But it might not be worth the hassle for 20K Fleet credits.

Either way if you have the fleet credits and need a base with the high tier shipyard, or if you plan to generate the fleet credits through donations to our base, (you ll have to be a member to do so, even if it is only for like 1min) the offer stands.

P.S.: dontdrunk has much more experience then i do with the fleet ships, i trust his advice about the somrow vs qin thing

SVR will soon have a tier 3 ship yard too, just need more fleet marks, and then like 5 days for the project to complete. its as serious as any fleet, a bunch of folks donating and growing it so we can all enjoy the benefit. at the very least, i stomp a mud hole in just about every pug i play brandishing the fleet name. from at least me and a few others that do similar, we should have some pvp cred :P
