The emission seeking torpedo, afraid of it?

I have been using this in stf's lately to flush out donatra when she cloaks, and i have been using it in Ker'rat, but it doesn't work all of the time. My question to the kdf-side: Have someone used it on you, and if so, what are your feelings about it?

To me it seems that it is a very nice weapon on paper, but usually it just hangs there in space without ever locking on, and when it does it's really slow moving, in fact so slow that it never hits the target.

Wielders and victims, yay or neigh on the efficiency of this console?

Flew a bop a lot when it first came out. Never worried about it then.

Never worried about it to be honest.
In fact, I think I've been hit by it a grand total of 1 time, and it was rather unimpressive

You don't see many people using it, but that could be explained by how poorly it works.

If you get a good crit with it while my cloak is up and shields are down... you charge up Go Down Fighting for me. I think you'd need a lot of people firing them at once for them to especially dangerous.

I have never even been hit by it, ever. Or run into someone mounting it.

I remember testing it a lot when a friend had one and I still had a defiant, and frankly I thought it was a bit **** lol. You can see the torpedo, and you can hear it, kinda like the beep beep stereotype sound you hear in a submarine, it was easy to evade and once you got about 8km(ish) away it just stayed still and acted like a mine lol.

This is what I hoped to hear, that it isn't just me.

It is too slow. If it was at least as fast as regular torps, it might be worth equipping the console. As it stands now, not - the cloaked ship it should be looking for can just too easily outrun the torp.

Or just hit brace for impact and polarize hull / AtoSIF and wait for the tickle

If you are in a B'rel you can just shoot mines out the rear. The emission seeking torpedo are target-able.

While on the fed side it was received well when it came out the in practice is was never worth it. If you used it the kdf play has 3 to 4 choices. 1) decloak and shoot it down. 2) Get hit. 3) outrun it. 4) lay mines as mentioned above.

While the strategy can be sound it was never practical. It is usually never practical to equipe a console with a cool down of 2 minutes or more for one weapon. A console in that slot for a passive stat boost would be better. There are console like the cheveron separation that take a few minutes to recharge are worth it because you have something that last for more then a few seconds once launched.

This console is in a similar category as the tachyon detection grid. Another cloak detection that only works if the ship is in that area. I never had it detect anything. However it does deserve re-examination since it bounces off allied ships like fighters and fighters will swarm around cloaked ships.

That won't stop you from being decloaked, though... :D

The damage is what is least important for me, the shutting down of the aux system and decloaking is what I like about this, when it works that is. He can press all the abilities he likes, I'll subnuke him anyways;)

That torpedo is for role play purposes only. You can always pretend to be afraid of it when you RP? If it gets ya, you gotta delete your toon tho. lol.
