several members of our fleet are experinceing incredible lacks in dps while using escorts equiped with cannon weapons. This is seen in pvp and pve. I have seen it myself and cannot believe the single figures that are reported on screen.
I could not bring the shield facing down on a STATIONARY cruiser that had no science shield capictors or regen consoles (all this while using ALPHA strikes and Rapid fires.
I must say the highest damage rating was no more than 200 ( alot less than 10% {Crit hit})

The most likely culprit is distance.
Dual Cannons suffer the worst drop off in damage due to distance, with the optimum range from a pure damage standpoint being 2km.
I let a Defiant refit blast my Sci-Oddy when they came out, I parked and he spent himself trying to kill me. He finally did when I took too long getting a soda from the fridge.
I'd guess poorly speced escorts as well, even an oddy not moving is going to have serious trouble against sustained escort fire. When the escort is fully on target its a nightmare, but it often isn't in PvP.

I was just challenged to a 1 on 1 with another Vice Admiral Defiant player. I think he gave up when it was 3-0 my win. I just upgraded all my stuff to very rare Mk XII weapons and all consoles. I was quite pleased with the results.
Make sure you're also using the right Tac consoles to compliment weapon types, and also stack the weapons. I use 1 Quantum Torpedo (the new wide angel version) and 3 Dual Heavy Phasers on the fore, and 1 Mk XII Quantum and 2 Heavy Phaser Turrets in the aft.

i have a defiant, armitage and this new starbase T1 fleet escort ugly thing...
infected space elite, on/in beginning there are two spheres and a cube.
while the other 4 dudes concentrate on the cube, i take down those spheres.
the sphere has app. 200k life/hit points.
with my defiant i need 10 or less seconds to destroy that sphere, with all cds.
this means i have a 20k+ dps, BUT ONLY WITH DEFIANT.
i tried it many times with armitage or fleetescort thing but with them i need at least 20 sec
the "same" setup, same weapons, same power levels, same boffs, evry thing the same, but cant reach that defiant dmg output :eek:
