I recently made level 50 and have an assault cruiser. I am a tactical captain and have tried a shiop build using various guides. I mostly do episode missions and PVE etc.
To show my build I will use pics so hope this comes across ok and makes sense.

Weapons are anti proton very rare XI beam arrays and 2 XI very rare photon torps.
Shield, Engine and deflector are the assimilated borg set.
Amoung my devices I have a subspace field modulator.
Engineering consoles are: XI rare monotanium alloy, XI rare Neutronium alloy x2 and an XI rare field emitter.
Science consoles are: XI rare shield emitter amplifier and XI rare field generator.
Tactical slots are XI common Anti proton mag regulator x3.

My stations are powers as pictured above are:
Lt Tactical: Tac team 1 and torp spread 2.
Ens Tactical: Fire at will 1.
Cmdr Enginnering: Epts 1 and 2, Aux power to structual integratory 3 and Aceton beam 2.
Lt Cmdr Eng: Eng team 1 and 2 plus reverse shield polarity 2.
Lt Sci: Polarize Hull 1 and Science team 2.

My Doffs are above.
Skills:
http://www.stoacademy.com/tools/skillplanner/index.php?build=Phil3822_2160
I mostly use my ship as a healer for me and team. Row 7 of my powers uses the space bar keybind as per Hilberts guide.
This is my first proper build and my first one publishing on here so go easy on me
Comments
I use 5 x Mk XI/XII Borg phaser arrays 1 MKXII Borg DBB, one Borg Mk XII quantum torp fore and one borg XII tricobalt aft.
Electroceramic armour due to plasma resistance (XI blue) and one EPS
Field Generator and Borg console
Phaser consoles
MKXII MACO shield, rest borg
aux battery, shield battery, engine battery, subspace field modulator
BOFFs are:
ENG CMDR: EPtW 1, RSP 1, EPtS 3, AtSIF 3
ENG LTCDR: EPtW 1, AtB 1, EPtS 3
TAC LT: TS 1, BFAW 2
TAC ENS: TT 1
SCI LT: PH1, HE2
Basically the default tanking setup and it works well. If you want more emphasis on team support you can include ES3 or TSS2 in there
Get the Forums Enhancement Extension!
contact me ingame @deepspacejunkie we can meet up and ill help you out, i got a really good build for that ship you can use. i promise by the time i am done with you your ship will be damn near immortal. The build takes a little practice to use but i will help you out, i don't need anything in return i just like helping people out
you can use the builds you find of the forum but without learning how to use them its useless ill help ya out with a build and how to use it, also i teach you a few ship building tricks this way you don't always have to goto the forum for help
Get assimilated module console.
Put MACO shield when you can. MACO deflector is better too.
And Aceton beam is useless, put some better skill.
[Combat (Self)] You lose 6549 (7572) Cold from the torment of the underworld.
In-game handle @Janetza
don't listen to him, that is just one very childish mans opinion he seems to forget everyone was new once even him and i am sure he made even worse building mistake when he first started..
and using full sets is great but a real player understand what the benifits of each piece does and can mix and match them,
For example my current ship i am using is the Fleet Tactical Escort, i run with
MACO MK XII Def and Shield with BORG engine
OR
MACO MK XII Shield, Omega DEF and the Borg Engine..
i use the omega DEF for extra accuracy, the MACO shield is the best shield vs the borg and the borg eng has nice turn rate and speed boosts, ill use the MACO DEF from time to time for the extra shield boost..
Like i said bud meet up with me in game ill help you out
You should be in an escort!!!
But..with that in mind? two DBBs up front with quantum torpedo and one other of your desire. You could put both photons up front as well!
Four turrets in the back of the boat.
With this...you should alway be facing your target. I do something similar on a Recluse carrier and can contribute a lot of DPS if needed....
Beams are pretty weak and most would be surprised at how effective turrets are on the back of bigger ships can be.
I also recommend two pieces sets with two piece sets: maco deflector and shield, borg engine and console or omega defelector and shield and borg engine and console.
The third procs for the set bonuses can be dropped in favor of the passive hull regen of the two piece set. The BOFF power should handle your shield heals!
Again..not a a fan of cruisers since most already run those and a good tac escort that can deal DPS AND tank are few and far between.
Glass cannon is apt for a description but I've been able to survive in far more situations than I ever thought I could!
Up front.....quad phaser cannon, quantum torpedo, phaser DBB, phaser DHC.
Back.....three phaser turrets
Maco deflector/shield (or omega)
Borg engine
Borg console, universal TRIBBLE console(theta radiation vent), neutronium alloy
shield consoles (+ capacity)
four tac phaser consoles
Aux battery, deployable turret
Com Tac: Tac team, attack pattern beta, torpedo spread 3, attack patter beta 3
lt tac: tac team, cannone scatter volley
ensign tac: Beam overload 1
lt. eng: EPTS1, EPTW2
lt comm sci: hazard emitters, transfer shield strength2, gravity well 1
This has a superb alpha strike and the capability to do crowd control. Kind of a glass cannon but has enough heals to do what is needed. You might die, but you die far less and you are a good dps dealer!
Cheers
i do a simular build with my Carrier, except instead of DBB i use Regular Single cannons, they do the same DMG and have 2x the ARC and allows me to use the Cannon Rapid Fire which boosts both cannons and turrets..
but for some people DBB work better everyone has their own personal pref
I prefer on the recluse:
DBB, DHC, quantum torped up front
three turrets in the rear
phased tetryon since tac consoles will buff your pets
Kar'fi:
same setup as the escort but with disruptors and orion interceptors or slavers. I prefer slavers for the ability to steal loot.
This site needs IMAGES!
Yes it does, i use a VERY simular on my Tac escort
Maco MK XII Def and Shield
Assimilated Eng
Fore: 4x Advanced Fleet Anti-Proton DHC MK XII DMG3 ACC
Aft: 2x Advanced Fleet Anti-Proton Turrets MK XII DMG3 ACC, Advanced Fleet Quant MK XII DMG3 ACC
Tac: 4x Anti-Proton Mags Mk XII
Eng: 2x Neutronium Mk XII, 1x Assimilated Console
Sci: 2x Field Generators MK XII
Comm. Tac: TT1, CRF 1, APO 1, CRF 3
Lt. Comm. Tac: TT1, ARB1, APO1
Lt. Tac: Spread 1
Lt. Eng.: EMPTS, RSP
Lt. Sci: TSS 1, HE 2
Doffs: 1 Warp core engineer, 2 shield dist. officers, 2 damage control engineers.
First off I'd suck Projectile Weapons down to rank 3-4, and projectile weapon specialization down to 0. Energy weapon specialization could stand to go to 6. I don't know about starship maneuvers; I use a 6, myself.
Structural integrity should go up to 6, hull plating down to 6, armor and weapon performance up to 6. I'd also transfer 3 ranks from hull repair to shield emitters.
Warp core potential should go down to 6 as well - you get less than 1 full point out of those last 3 ranks. You can probably see the pattern here; diminishing returns in a big way. Keep in mind that for each stat, rank 3 gets you to +54, rank 6 to +84, and rank 9 to +99.
I'd also consider a boost to combat specialist on the ground, if you can afford it.
For BOff abilities - You've got a ton and a half of points in Attack Patterns - use them, and put APB into your Lt. Tac slot. Consider dumping Science Team 2 and put in Hazard Emitters 2.
Use some more powerful DOffs - the whites just don't have the energy you're looking for. You should try to get 2 purple Conn DOffs that drop tac team cooldown and boost Attack Patterns - with those you can cycle one copy of TT non-stop. You may also want to consider Warp Core Engineer, which has a chance of boosting your power considerably to all systems on the use of emergency power. IMO I'd also ditch the Maintenance Engineers.
The cycle I use on my cruisers is EPtW1 x 2, EPtS2/3 x 2 (preferably 2 copies of 3), TT1 x 2, A2SIF3 x 1. This makes them pretty sturdy and gives them solid firepower. If you are extremely keen on using your ship as a healer, during retrait you should bring Auxiliary Performance up to 6 and may consider using EPtA instead of EPtW - this will deprive your damage output but will up your defensive output to at least some degree.
For consoles, dump the Field Emitter for the Assimilated Console, and get blue antiproton mags mk XI. I'd also put in neutronium armor consoles - some advocate monotanium. Note that armor consoles do have diminishing returns to at least some extent, so each successive armor console will do less and less.
In general the old "base standard," and probably still popular, is to try to get Mk XI Rare for most, if not all, consoles. Since the introduction of Mk XII, though, Mk XII green is just as good and anything else above it is better and PAINFULLY expensive.
For shields, dump the Borg shield for the MACO shield (you still get the 3 piece proc with the assimilated console).
For weapons I would strongly consider Mk XI Very Rare quantum torps - you should probably get these from Roxy because they're murderously expensive elsewhere.
Some of this stuff is going to be painfully expensive. The DOffs may cost you 3 mil EC each (or more), but you can get some free by doing the colonization missions, although these may take up to a few weeks to reach fruition. The antiproton mag regulators and the neutronium armor consoles are also going to be costly. But you don't have to get it all at once.
This is all IMO, people will probably chew on me for advocating a cruiser for a tac. Although I will say that an AC is a good cruiser for a tac, consider the Excelsior-R, the Tactical Odyssey, and particularly the Regent. IMO the Tac Ody is best for when using the three-pack, so unless you have that you may find it a bit of a letdown. The Regent is a side-grade that you may enjoy.
EDIT: RESTAT, NOT RETRAIT. Sorry about that!
Nothing wrong with a Tac on a Cruiser, i generally use my Tac in sci vessels or cruisers, my favorite combo is my Tac officer with my D'Kora it is a match made in heaven imo lol... i have a so much fun with it.
Thanks for all replies except the above quoted one. If you read the title you would realise I was asking for advice. I will now however give you a little bit of advice, rather than coming on here and posting utter rubbish both in content and English please read, think and understand before posting. Your post was not only nasty and poorly written it was irrelevant. And by the way, this forum is kind enough to have the ability to spell check for people like you.
Thanks to others again, I will take on board some of the advice. And thanks spacejunkie for your offer. I will try to find you when online.
lol, troll
