Pls recommend a tutorial for social hub mission

I am new to the foundry. Can someone please recommend a tutorial for making a foundry mission that takes place in a social hub. I just want to learn the basics. Like how to make an objective to talk to someone on ESD, use a console, or go to a waypoint. I have found tutorials for doing this in custom maps, but I can't figure out how to do this in places like ESD or DS9.

Let's start simple. Suppose I want to have someone go to ESD and talk to someone at the club.

Can someone pls recommend a tutorial that would show me how to get started working with that map or just list the steps for that mission?

I tried going to the story board tab, dragging an indoor map to the board, selecting ESD and selecting a person in the bar and entering some snappy dialogue... but when I test run it that person has nothing to say to me.

Thank you for your time.

I'll cover this in the next Foundry Essentials for Primetime UGC. Basically, you have to start on a "Cryptic Map," and there are limited objectives that you can do. If the first task is "Dialog with Contact" then you specify a contact on ESD. You can't customize anything. Then the door to the next map is interacting with an object on ESD or reaching one of two markers. Or, you can make the player go to ESD, talk to a contact there, and then leave, and fly to a system as the door. I don't recommend that. It makes people mad to go to ESD just to talk to someone and then have to fly somewhere else.

Basically, the first map in the story board is a Cryptic map, followed by custom maps.

Thank you so much for the info. I have it setup now, but it won't complete. I got the Grant Dialogue window figured out I think. I select cryptic maps, I drag dialog with contact, select a character on a map, enter a few words like "hi, how are you?", and it seems to be ok. But when I go to test it it doesn't seem to actually finish. The name of the mission remains in the mission list as if there was something else to do.

Am I missing a window that goes after the "Task-dialog with contact?"

I had the same problem with a push the button type task at a console.

Really want to nail this before I start creating more complicated stuff.

    Thanks for your time.

Hm, I'm not sure that I understand. I've never used Cryptic maps in my missions. Can somebody else help out?

I just tested talking to DJ and the mission finished. You're not actually on ESD. You're in the Foundry's test version when you playtest the map. The name of the mission you are testing will always be listed in that spot, even after the mission is resolved.

I published it and got a reviewer to test it. It wouldn't finish for him either.

I've tried it on the Academy too. The KDF version as well.

I think the Grant mission box is fine.

After that I selected cryptic map, Dialog with contact window, selected Artok on the KDF academy, he says hello, and then it should finish. The only thing after that is the finish flag. Does that sound correct?

Once I test it he says Hello ok, but the mission still looks active in the mission window. It doesn't finish just like when the reviewer tested it. I've tried this on different maps so I can only assume I'm leaving out a step or window or something.

I would like to create a series of characters to talk to but if I can't even get the first one to work correctly, then I must be doing something very wrong.
