After some time after the latest Ask Cryptic , I'm still waiting the Galaxy X Dreadnought Saucer Sep. They said that it was going to be released in an update soon but its going to take long? because I want so much to play with this ship but without the saucer sep. it makes impossible.
Is there any release date +-? or at least this month??

I don't think there is any real recent info...they were planning to release it like early this year. But because there were problems with a Galaxy pack they were planning and they put it off.
I thought the official description of the Galaxy Dread stated that it could no longer separate because they installed that big-TRIBBLE lazor cannon through it, and that therefore, ripping off the saucer section to fling at enemies like a giant kamikaze frisbee is out.

No they were working on it. It has been seen on tribble afew times and I believe somewhere in the description of the lance it refrences a "shotgun" mode for saucer sep.
Too lazy to hunt it down right now tho.
As a time traveller, Am I supposed to pack underwear or underwhen?

But I recall the shotgun thing too, short range powerfull blast with wide arc. The Dread saucer sep never got finished yet because of some techincal aspects.

The spinal phaser get in the way of the saucer sep you want to break the spinal phaser
No saucer sep for the Dreadnought. This would be the final nail in the Gal-Rs coffin :P

I do remember them saying something about setting the Dread up for the saucer sep. there was some kind of graphical issue that they were having to work through. As far as I know it is still being worked on. but no there is no release date yet.
*Me*Why don't you just step away from the weapons console. I don't think a "graphical issue" would keep them. I mean, the saucer sep on the "Monarch"-skin on the Gal-R still doesn't work visually. Since 2+ years.

The whole Gal-X saucer sep' doesn't make much sense to me, which part of the ship gets the lance? It looks like the saucer would, not the "star drive" section, which negates the whole point of the purpose of the separation ability. It seems to me that they more or less welded the Gal-X primary and secondary together when they refitted it.
That's what it says in the description, yes. There was talk based on some faked screenshot someone photoshopped awhile back about a "shotgun" mode for sawing off the saucer, but that was just photoshop. People, however, have taken to believing that this was somehow real. It isn't. The evidence is quite clear on this, you can clearly tell it is photoshopped, as the fake images are depicting an event that can't actually happen. PHOTOSHOP IS NOT REAL. Don't fall for obvious shoops.

it not possable unless you whnt to brak you spineal phaser it linked to you deflector
I really was going to let this one to and not post, but the ignorance and misinformation is just to much.
Fact: the Galaxy X phaser lance has a shot gun mode right now on holodeck. You can see it yourself by bringing up the power window in space and reading the description. The picture of it was a tweet from long ago.
It has been stated that when separated this shotgun mode works on he star drive as an AOE cone. The saucer will fire a beam overload like ability.
For all those galaxy r whiners: wake up! That ship is already dead. It's been killed for a long time.

It wasn't all photoshop by a player which led to the speculation. It was information passed onto the community by someone at PWE.
Also, the Spinal Phaser Lance weapon ingame states two firing modes, the second for saucer sep. Its not all random speculation based on a photoshop.
And CAPSLOCK MAKES YOU LOOK DUMB!!!1
The graphical bug in question, iirc, is the fact that the Dread's Spinal Phaser isn't lined up correctly. When you look directly at the front of the ship, the weapon isn't straight.

There are two things on this.
1) First off, if the phaser is going to be a "spinal phaser shotgun," then it's going to act like a sawed-off shotgun, and the origin point of the weapon (which is almost certainly in the neck of the ship) is going to have to stay with it. This implies that the rest of the weapon is designed to refine the beam into a precise, pin-point strike. The phaser shotgun remark indicates that it releases the energy in a diffuse short-range manner without it, acting in accordance with rifling principles. This may not be the most realistic for an energy weapon of course, but it makes sense from a "gut level" or storytelling perspective with people used to ballistic firearms, in other words, us.
2) The saucer's energy sources are pathetic. It has a little bit of antimatter, primarily for very short duration micro-injections into the impulse engines for emergency thrust and fueling the very few photon torpedoes it carries (which don't even launch in STO), two good impulse engines, and a few auxiliary generators. While this is plenty to keep an impulse ship running and do some light defense, it isn't anywhere near enough to power a weapon like a phaser lance. That needs a direct line to a warp core. It's also been fan-speculated that the Galaxy-X has MULTIPLE warp cores, or at least a much larger one than standard.
So while the saucer may carry off some gear for the lance, the lance's core systems and power source will remain firmly with the stardrive section.
Putting saucer separation on the Galaxy-X is the one thing that would make me consider buying this ship, especially with it's Assault Cruiser classic layout.
As long as the saucer sep is on 5min cooldown, it's not much of help tbh.

Means you can equip dual cannons..might not be to much use in PVP...but in PVE you can leave you saucer dead and as long as you don't die can use the cannons effectively.
They should just allow the dread to use the sep already...who cares about the 3 pack.
