The KDF doff missions seem a lot harder.....

Even at the basic doffs it still seems nearly a 50/50 succeed fail, I dont recall having so many doffs die or wind up in the sickbay on my Fed side. And you gotta laugh at how many of them require you flat out LOSE a doff to do it?

If it makes you feel better, I lost a Fed Astrometrics officer cataloguing a few stars yesterday. I have no idea how he did it, but I am IMPRESSED!

I think it makes it more realistic for the KDF side. We live more dangerously after all. ;)

C'mon these are things that happen to Fed, too, and excactly as likely.

Also, don't forget that all DOff missions are balanced for purple DOffs with crit traits, not for white starter DOffs - using those on any mission can be risky.

The "problem" here is that marauding missions have a very high chance of failure or disaster if you lack the proper DOffs. While it's tempting to attempt them, and you start out with the proper DOff specializations due to them being pretty common (usually Tactical or Security department, nothing more special), it's often a better choice to collect at least some green DOffs with a crit trait or two first.
On Fed, those assignments have pretty specialized requirements, that's what keeps you from attempting them in the first place at low levels. They're simply locked.

That's the main difference - as KDF you can attempt them, but you have to weight the risk. As Fed, you don't have the opportunity to make mistakes, which keeps you from losing your starting complement too early.
Which is fine, since Fed has all the newbies, and you have to get some experience first to be able to roll KDF at all - and should be able to make decent decisions.

Oh, and ... haven't we all lost some white science DOff some time for rewieving credentials? Or had some medical DOff kill themselves and their patient while treating a caugh?
Hilarious, but not really game-breaking, is it?

Here's Proof of the dangers of Tribbles in the Kitchen, Baked tribble

Though I did have a DOff critically succeed at the mission " Entertain High ranking KDF warriors" with one injury, so that my make an amusing GoS episode for the future.

I've had plenty understandable KDF casualties..

But when you have missions on fed side
    "confiscate contraband"
    and
"fix turbolift" (cant remeber its precise name but im sure not to pick it anymore)

And find out one of your crew died...

That was because he poured the wrong Bloodwine, should have been 2309, not the cheap stuff. Insulting a Klingon or KDF officer is a dangerous thing. :D

Obviously, there is a much higher danger when cataloguing stars orbiting each other near a super blackhole and a singularity event. Klingon scientist do it the old school way. Evac Suits. A Doff mission I fail often.

These missions are worth it, the rewards for marauding are far more interesting than the fed diplomatic ones. You can get free contraband and commodities, which makes endgame doffing more interesting.

KDF DOFFs on average have more negative traits than what your Fed toons will have. They pop up alot more frequently.

    Case in point?
