Ideal modifier for Phaser Turret?

I haven't yet upgraded my Phaser Turrets to anything higher than my MK XII [Borg] and was trying to figure out which modifier I should go for.

I know [critd] will give me the most in terms of damage (I'm running Phaser DHCs with [critd]x3), but would it be better to go with [acc] for the increased accuracy and, by extension, more opportunities for the Phaser proc to kick in?

My fleet mate and I tested the difference (using a parser) between a [crith]x3 and [acc]x3, and we found that the the [crith]x3 had approximately 60% accuracy, but 160+ DPS (with no buffs and just a single turret firing on me with no buffs and my 80% defense). The [acc]x3 had approximately 80% accuracy, and 150+ DPS. I'd imagine a [critd]x3 would have approximately the same accuracy as the [crith]x3, but higher DPS. This was out of about 250-500 shots.

If I wanted more raw damage, I would go with the [critd]x3, but I chose Phaser for the proc over Antiproton. I'm doubting that there's going to be a huge difference in DPS between [critd]x3 and [acc]x3 turrets.

Thoughts?

I thought the [ACC] Modifier gave a bonus 2% more base DPV per [ACC] modifier on top of it being more accurate?

Anyway... I feel that the more shots that land, the more damage you can do over duration. If you are fighting something with high defense [ACC x3] is the way to go in my opinion

Yes ACC x 3 is the best way to go with turrets

    yes, do what simon says.

if not you'll get this horrible beeping sound and the buttons won't respond until you take out the "D" batteries and put them back in.

The above are pretty much 100% true. More Accuracy may not always, 100% of the time be the *best* choice, but it's never a bad one in regards to PvP, especially as there are many powers that buff Defense, but only a few ways to pump Accuracy (the skill, weapon mods, char trait, and I believe Omega Def are the beginning and end of them).

I recently changed up all my fore weapons, my damage just couldn't stack up to my peers so it was the only way. Until you totally upgrade the fleet turrets are better then the Borg ones.

From what I remember (may be wrong though and if so, I'd appreciate some corrections) if accuracy exceeds the targets defense, everything over goes to critical chance. Considering this, you can't go wrong with acc x3.

Here's the original spreadsheet featured in STOked 76:

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/124307/STOAccuracyvsDefense.xls

Bonus is 1,25% crit chance and 0,05 severity per 0,1 Acc overflow.

Simple example. Your own acc is 0.6 (or 60), your opponent has 0 defence. +.6 difference means 7,5% bonus CrtH chance and 0,3 bonus CrtD.

    Also some fleet deflectors.

Drops. But MK XI [acc]x3 isn't that bad...about 1 mil EC.

    Get the drops yourself....
Hawk the exchange and hope for a pve kid to post one wrong... or for someone to fat finger it and forget a zero. :)

Frankly don't let everyone convince you that accx3 is the only way to go... I do just fine and honestly I don't have many accx3 weapons... for the most part my escorts run crth weapons... with perhaps accx2 or 3 for turrets.

Really something like [acc] [crth]x2 can be a better choice, in many cases... and happens to be much cheaper.

i usually run mk XII borg turrets because their price is basically 0 and they deal more damage a shot then anything else i could afford. they have 1 acc mod at least. my forward guns are acc2 minimum, and i still see them miss fairly often, and im using omega deflector, 9 to targeting, and have the accurate trait. my acc 3 single cannons on another character literally never miss, they are great.

Is there a particular reason why people don't like [critd] anymore?

It looks like the ones with a mixed amount of [acc] and [crth] cost around the same price as [critd].

I personally find the most useful weapons the acc x3. I do have some ctrd x3 and ctrh x3, but those miss like crazy. You can definitely equip them when you have a team with lots of cc (tractors, warp plasma, etc) since those slow the target and lower the defense, which would make you ctrd/ctrh x3 to not miss anymore.

Hmm...I don't really have that many problems with hitting what I'm firing at, escorts included.

Sure, I miss every now and then, but when I do hit and get a critical, I figured the [critd]x3 makes up for the difference.

I picked up a phaser turret mk xi [acc]x3 yesterday for half the price it normally goes for. I'll probably go with mk xii [acc] with a mix of something else for the remaining two aft weapons.

    Tested this over the weekend.

Against a ship with 81+% defense, my DHC with [critd]x3 had an accuracy 80%+. I only used a single DHC and no accuracy buffing abilities (I do have the accuracy trait for my char). This was out of approximately 500 shots.

I will continue to use the [critd]x3 on my fore, but will definitely swap out the aft with a mix of [acc] turrets.
