We have considered merging the KDF and FED factions, but only as a due-diligence thought process. We strongly believe that STO needs both factions and we would rather see the KDF come inline with the FED faction. One of the options we are considering to make this happen is to add other key races and species to the KDF faction, so I'm curious what you might think of that solution if it say meant more content for the KDF, even if that content is specific to a species such as the Gorn or Orions?

Hypothetically speaking, even though the Romulans and Klingons aren't logical allies, there might still be a subset of Romulans that would be interested in fighting the Federation and work with the KDF to do so. This is something we would consider.

The KDF will have all of the new Season 7 content available as soon as it launches later this year. In terms of KDF "only" content, then it will be a little longer before you see something that only KDF can play.

Well I am rather disappointed that season 7 won't include any new KDF content, seems like more cross faction content. I also read that the Romulan faction is looking like to be developed in 2013. I wonder if we'll see a complete KDF faction up to similar levels to the Federation before it happens.

However season 7 is supposed to overhaul the STF's lets hope the loot gets a massive change to make it easier to get our sets.

Thoughts, opinions and such, please discuss.

First, thank you for sharing this and the link. If I wasn't so negative to things like facebook I might go through the trouble of getting on it and the other thing. It is interesting to read though.

Ok, I wouldn't mind an end to the Fed Klingon war. So we can fight the real enemies like the Undine. I'm just not sure on this merging the factions. Worse I'm not sure how it would be received by some of the more die hard Klingon players.

Faction only missions would be the desired, however if it is cross faction or nothing, give me proper cross faction missions.
    Examples:
You send a Fed to fix the replicators. You ask a Klingon to deal with some troublesome patrons in your bar.
When you go to a outpost and a fed shows up, he doesn't talk like a Orion and shout threats at you, they try to convince you that there is another way to resolve the conflict then a fight. Then after talks break down he opens fire.

What bothers me is this. "In terms of KDF "only" content, then it will be a little longer before you see something that only KDF can play." Because while I do not like to say it. We have heard this said more times them one can count.

I'm more or less ignoring what Dstahl has to say, unless he says something that's actually set in stone/written in blood. He's opened his mouth (figuratively) about vague possibilities and random ideas too often in the past. . .all it does it lead to frustration down the road, due to things having a tendency to go in the opposite direction of what he hints at, or nothing happening at all. Maybe things have changed as of late, I dunno. . .but I'm tired of being fed hints and tips that only reflect the 'current' line of thinking, a line of thinking that could be abandoned by the following month.

stumped978: How about ever having the Romulan factions as a playable option?

Dstahl: Probably one of the top features we are considering for 2013, but there are a few obstacles we have to overcome first.

This obstacle has a name: The promise to finish the KDF faction first.

Guess it won't happen and that we'll have a crappy mini Romulan faction instead. Something we can barely play with no specific content, etc, and something that we'll probably consider as a joke, even worst than the current state of the KDF. That's the future of factions, if I understand well what Dan said there: costumes and species, that's it. :)

So, no thank you, Mr Stahl.

Aside from the hint of a future federation Bird of Prey like vessel with Universal BOff slots (WHICH WOULD ROB THE KDF OF ITS LAST BASTION OF UNIQUENESS - only the Romulans deserve a BoP vessel), I was rather happy with even the cryptic answers he gave about eh future of the KDF. We where achnowledged publicly as being a thought for completion in the seasons ahead instead of the " The Devs hate us/the Devs are ignoring us" propoganda that many fedfans would have us believe.

As to a Romulan faction. A full seperate faction can be done if the Devs set-up it up into a split faction.
Remans with thier vessels, costumes and such identifying items can be played as a minifaction tied to possibly the KDF or the feds as a " freedom fighter" sort of arraingement in name only, still give them thier own small base of operations (the Vault) to operate from and use as a go-to like area similiar to Qo'nos and ESD.
Romulans can become a new villian minifaction that align the charatcer with the Selea(?) and what the Iconians have done to those that follow her as the last bastion of the RSE.
GIve them thier own ships and unique qaulities of gameplay and let the fun insue.
