SO! its been a couple weeks since i last logged in. the first thing i find when i log in....
"gernade skills boost space kenetic damage".
-_- nice to know things are still broken......
^
It did not affect the damage showing of TBR or Torps, so I guessing no unless its unseen damage. I will have to run some matches and see if there is a major difference or not.
from the q/a
SteelMagnum: <major snippage due to wall of text> Were is the GROUND pvp on the 'to-do' list?
Dstahl: Ground PvP is a ways off. Looking at game play data, most people are currently playing Space PvP and so it was the first on the to-do list for a revamp and something that Gozer and now Dods is responsible for. Once we make some headway with Space PvP, then we can consider moving to Ground PvP and developing something that is reminiscent of a Battleground. We have a long term goal to get that type of gameplay into STO because it is sorely missing.
mavgeek: Now that Gozer is no longer with Cryptic Studios, you said at STLV that a new guy was "being brought up to speed" on where Gozer left off on his complete overhaul on PvP gameplay. It's been over two and a half years since we've seen actual content added for PvP, with Gozer gone is the "new guy" who is taking over his roll able to keep up with the changes Gozer was making? And will he be able to keep us update to date weekly on the pace of PvP changes like Gozer was?
Dstahl: Gozer was awesome in that he would keep players up to date on what he was working on. That said, PvP isn't going to change significantly any time soon. We are looking into changes that will improve it, but as you mention it hasn't seen anything new for a long time. Wish I had better news, but this is the reality of where it is at for the time being until we can get some serious manpower to tackle it. That said, I can't imagine us raising the skillcap without resolving this once and for all.
data662: When will fleets be able to attack other fleets and their starbases?
Where's our elite space weapons at tier 5 engineering?
Where's our fleet assault cruiser?
Will we ever see a mirror universe oddessy?
Any idea when the starbase will get a hangerbay?
Dstahl: RE: Starbase hangerbay: This is tentatively scheduled for Season 7 so that you can take a shuttle from your Starbase directly to your Embassy.
(nice dodging of the other questions)
and of course the mention of a personal advancment system which will introduce new items and TRIBBLE....
dark days ahead for pvp....
otherwise... doesnt seem to be much in the way of pvp updates.
as always- I'll add stuff as i learn about it.

Well Duh why wouldnt a ground skill boost a space one??
Quote of the week:
Sci/Sci are the most common all torp builds and a boost is given to further the damage of a Tac/Sci. I can't figure out why they are boosting tac's damage further in a dps centric game and leaving the other captains lagging even farther behind.
... your joking right...
This isn't an actual fix or add in. It's what I saw was being said in opvp the moment I logged on.
If its true it would also explain why tactical shockwaves were that
Much more damaging then science shockwaves. It needs testif and confirmation of course.
As reported by the opvp channel. Test to confirm.
Tac toons buff grenades, I suppose science captions buff tricorder and engineers buff hydro-spanner? What that was Star Wars...

but if its true its even more sad..... i mean i honestly wouldnt be surprised if it is the case. can anyone test this so i can either knock it out or speak it as true?

Can't wait to see the game implode when they lose tons of money when their asia launch fails spectacularly.
Hey, we could have slicers hit all the weapons. New crafting skill and would bring the "slicers" a boat-load of EC. lol
so much for class balance in pvp

IndigoMercy: Are there any plans to improve on the diplomacy side of things? Maybe the ability to create and maintain alliances for trade income? or the ability for fleets to formally go to war with each other to fight for control of resource rich sectors/systems possibly?
Dstahl: The next major update (Season 7) will be adding a Fleet Embassy which will focus on Diplomacy and Recruiting tracks and will require some Diplomatic efforts in exchange for some cool new rewards. The Embassy will be on the new Romulan colony. In the future we will consider branching out into the type of iPvP resource game you describe.

3) You are going to die, just get back up
I m sure it will, Sophie. Systems has already been informed, what could go wrong.

so if everyone gets a ferrari race car theyll all be the fastest driver around? thats the kind of balance youre compairing it too.
this game is more about player skill then ingame skillls. and the pvp crowds player skills are so much generally higher then the average pve'rs player skill that if you give the pvp'rs access to everything. then everything will be considered op by the pve'rs who stumble into the pvp arena further making pvp an unprofitable area.
its all part of their master mind plan to eliminate pvp from the game by way of making it so bad that noone will play it.
the game is dumbed down enough, it does not need to be made even more casual
Playing pong w/Star Trek skins isn't my idea of fun.
The point of classes and other variances in game is to promote diversity of playstyles. This is more fun to me. It does take planning to balance a variety of playstyles and there should be opportunities where each playstyle's role shines w/in the game design. I'd rather they fix the underlying problem and not build on a poor foundation.

GRR where is the ****** report button, you can keep your veiled insults to yourself, sophie.
After 2 years, systems incompetence at balancing a game with 3 player classes and 3 ship classes is so painfully obvious that only the most die hard troll refuses to see it. All the evidence the enlightened mind can glance at, points to even better balance once the possible combos go from 3 player classes, to 6, or if i can choose the same primary and secondary to 9.
Synergy is the keyword here and roles to fill. No wonder Bort had nothing to report to pvp related topics or the Tac/Sci debate. We haven't even started to see the all might OP2.0 coming down the road, obsoleting even more characters and roles. Serisouly Bort, nothing to Report???
Until then all hail friggin tacs, sorry if you wanted to make an eng, move along and be my target practice.

You should really be playing shooters or something if you would like to have every ones toon have the exact same abilities.
This is a MMO and I hope Cryptic doesn't forget that.... to make a MMO any fun at all to play, loadouts for your toons have to be basicly unequal. If one thing didn't work better then the next why would any of us play. Even you sophie spend most of your time in game tweeking your build... if the obvious choice was to just drive the ferrari Cryptic gives you the keys to, instead of building your own personal vehicle from the ground up... 90% of the fun of a MMO would be completely lost.
Honestly crossing the captain skills has the potential to be the absolute worst move they will ever make... and I'm not being dramatic... really if they do something like that, it really could destroy the game.
I thought they dropped this bad idea this past winter/spring when they talked about 1st Officers. People complain about SNBs now. Everyone would have one, and Scis may have 2.
