Melee and the weapons we love to use.

Klingons are known for a love of melee combat using hand held weapons, to see the eyes of our enemies up close and personal, so why does the faction have no speciality in melee combat?

Even our allies, the Gorn and Nausicians, have a similiar love of mele combat. Why do they not have special mele combat kits and abilities?

What is missing melee weaponwise in the KDF?

What melee kits would you like to see added and why?

    The mek'leth is missing. I want a mek'leth

And we all want our personal d'ktahg, or in Deyvid's case, his lucky one

I would like to see Weapon master kits that give us special attacks with the weapon that the kit covers.
The Bath'leth should be easy enough to do as some moves already exist and more can be found online or in books on its use.
The other weapons of the KDF could be as easy as well.

Targ Handler and Saurian handler kits would be awesome as well.

Just discovered swords (thanks to coliseum mission) and tho my shard bat'leth looks great on my back drawing the falchion from my back looks better- gives me a little ninja flavor. The battle moves are pretty cool too !

A tanto (wakizashi) and kitana combo would be great.

As I stated elsewhere - Martial Arts should be useful. I would go so far as to suggest a "weapon" that when equipped simply improves your Martial Arts abilities with melee weapon quality mods, etc.

I'm also fairly certain there are at least two Klingon weapons NPCs use we cannot get. Daggers and Mek'leth are in game, and seen in the hands of our opponents. Heck, there are examples displayed behind the merchants on our Fleet Starbases of in-game weapon models we cannot select...

Speaking of - why are there no Melee choices when buying Fleet Advanced ground weapons (and presumably Elite as well)???

EDIT: last thought - wouldn't mind seeing a melee whip in game... the animations from the Ferengi energy whip would work just fine for it, just not an energy-bolt-throwing weapon, an actual melee whip... possibly some kind of stun damage? Just a thought, no real demand on my part. The above is far more important! :D

HG set has melee combat bonuses.

Close Combat Specialist kit is darn good with melee weapons.. though I agree wholeheartedly that the kit should use the WEAPON not bare hands.

Perhaps the best way to do this is to remove the generic attacks for klingon weapons and replace them with 'sequence' attacks.

Its already in the game anyway.

So, instead of left swing / right swing / knockback change these to:

Swirling weapon aoe attack replaces left swing.

Single target damage attack replaces right swing

Knockback attack still does knockback but also adds a short stun.

    Close Combat kit changes:

Sweeping strikes can be changed to 'Strikes' and again, be weapon specific

If unarmed then do what sweeping strikes does now.
If melee weapon then have the melee weapon do the 'swirling weapon attack' at triple speed of normal AND add a swirling kick at the end of it.

Finally, I would add a universal debuff to encounters:

Ranged is attacked by melee opponent in melee = -50% accuracy. Hard to aim when the bat'leth is cutting your TRIBBLE off eh?

Melee is attacked by range at more than 2m range = -50% defense (or aka, the ranged weapon user has a higher chance to the melee and crit him).

I'm a Naucassian Sword man myself, I really enjoy that weapon even if the stats of an uncommon and a rare are almost/if not totally identical.

Yes I'd also like to see the D'tang knife as well.

I'd like my gorn to be able to throw giant slabs of rock like the npc's do. Barring that, let my gorn be able to rip a tree out of the ground and use it as a giant club

I think the Mek'leth would easily work with those mattle moves you describe.

    On a more light-hearted note:
I thought Kitana used deadly steel fans and not a wakizashi.:P

    DaHar Master

Train 1000 warriors who each survive 100 battles

    Survive 1000 battles

    Survive 100 Honor challenges.

Do we need a DaHar Master ground kit? What would it do?

I like to use these two melee weapon Shard Sword of Kahless and Tholian Crystalline Sword. But Shard Sword of Kahless is my preferred weapon.

The biggest problem is the ground fighting system itself.

What does what "kit" you use have to do with melee attack choices? Absolutely nothing.

Lunge and sweeping strikes are melee attacks and should not be part of the kit abilities. With physical hand to hand, either the fighter is able and trained to do them or they are not. Thats the case for all natural weapons like claws, bites, and martial arts as well.

The basic attacks for MA are too arcane. If one knows the right left attack, right attack and gets things just right they suddenly perform a round kick or a whirling sword attack. Bad system.

If someone walks up to Joe Borg and points his antiproton pulse wave MK XII at the back of his melon and pulls the trigger it should ALWAYS be fatal. Instantly FATAL. Not 15 PTS of damage. Not 98 PTS of damage.

Klingons do actually have an I game adv in ground fighting in the form of their racial innate passives.
