You're all aware of the suggestion to convert the top-rated Foundry missions into official mission content. This would give new content to the game, more players and hence more money, etc etc.
But doing so would mean going through hundreds and thousands of missions in the first place. It's quite a lot of work to do so for both factions, and the only gain to Cryptic is in the long-term.
So my suggestion is this:
do this idea, but ONLY for the KDF.
It gives the game new content, and because it's KDF content, an actual reason to try out the KDF (and those who are already playing KDF more reason to play). In addition, it fleshes out the KDF even more, and it's much less missions to go through beforehand.
Perhaps a total of 20 top missions can be added. That won't bring us up to par with the Fed side, but it'll be considerable progress on that front.
What do my fellow warriors think?

I think it's a bit of a cheat, what I mean is we put money into this game through subscriptions, lifetime subscriptions and Zen and yet Dan Shahl in the last ask Cryptic stated they were looking into doing this. If this does go ahead it's basically us fans how are now developing the game rather than the company we pay to do it.
I personally feel this is a cheap way of doing things. They should be developing their own missions, telling their story not take out money and then take our missions and still they get paid. So many kinds of wrong there I feel.
Yes, the game should have official content, but let's face it: the devs have their hands full even without making new content themselves (mission content I mean).
And when should is unlikely to be done, would you rather nothing be done at all?
Been playing STO since Open Beta, and have never regarded anything as worse than 'meh', if only due to personal standards.
I have nothing against the game reaching it's full potential, quite the opposite. I have an issue with the Dev's basically using members to do their job for them. We paid money to play this game, why should we do most of the work as well? I didn't pay to get my peers and friends to make the game. If this idea goes ahead do they get compensated with something for it if Cryptic uses their missions? Like a free lifetime sub, or the equivalent of free Zen or something if they are already a lifetime member?
The community/foundry missions are already there in the community section, they have the bulletins/foundry spotlight so I say they need to just make their own missions, tell their story to us, which started with the Path to 2409. There has been a severe lack of direction since launch with the storyline.
You say they are busy? Season 6 was such a let down, they are charging us unrealistic prices for the top end ships, 2,000 Zen to get the Fleet Vorcha for example for a single unlock. The only real new content they gave us was endless grinding that gives advantages to larger fleets and several repetitive PvE Queues that are boring after a dozen times. I really think they need to focus on getting what us players really want, and the majority want KDF and new missions, original missions, rather than copied fan made missions.
I am not trying to sound like a whiner, just expressing my disappointment in Cryptic and think if they do as you suggest with the foundry missions they are going to have a lot of disappointed members who will feel cheated. Trying to put another point of view into this discussion.
I believe it would be a great idea and it would satisfy all parties. It would also put the "fear of God" in the current Cryptic employees as out sourcing always does.
As for feeling cheated... I'm afraid I just don't see how that's an issue. We already pay to play this game (with our time, even if not our money), so if Foundry mission content becomes official content, the authors will have their hard work pay off even more. And every single player would benefit from it, because of the extra value with no further payment (again with time, mostly).
I'd like the official storylines to continue as much as the next guy. But if Cryptic can't continue them for whatever reason, regardless of what we say/advise... there's little we can do about that. In the meantime, my suggestion would expand the game just a little, which is overall important to the game's success.

I personally like that idea alot, it seems the best way to go and as you say satisfy everyone.
Unfortunately I doubt we are going to see eye to eye on this, I feel this is wrong, you feel this is right. Let's leave it at that and see what the rest of the community here has to say on the subject.
Thanks for your input/discussion and I appreciate you point of view, even if I don't share it. Qa'Pla fellow warrior.
But thanks for saying that. And same to you, Qapla'
