Basically, my options are Atrox, Recluse, or Dykr, namely cause they all look sufficiently different to the regular ships that it fits my char's concept. So, compare and contrast, please?

Don't own any of the ships but depends what you want to do. The D'kyr is basically a nerfed Nebula-R with a pet and a different skin. The other two of course are carriers, so maybe you ought to speed level a Klingon off the Mirror Event just to take a Voquv for a test drive and see how you like that sort of combat before plunking down your hard-earned Zen/EC. Also you're forgetting the Orb Weaver.

I recently asked a friend about D'Kyr because he owns one, I was also interested in it since it is much different than your run of the mill fed ship design.

That being said he hates it, is only one person mind you and from what I understand he is more of a escort flyer. But the more I look at it, the D'Kyr I agree with Regi its a nebula with a little pet which doesn't seem worth it.

I own a Atrox but not a Recluse currently. If your going for a carrier I say go for the Recluse. Like Regi said maybe should try a voquv? They are practically the same short of some stats and a slight boff seating.

I forgot about the Weaver. I'm just basically looking for people's opinions. Note I've not played on a Nebula, unless that was one of the earlier Science ship tiers, so, again, just looking for people's opinions.

    Weaver > All

Weaver's Bridge > All other bridges

The main thing you lose out on is maneuverability. But there are ways around that.

Better Boffs, shields, impulse and versatility.

The Nebula is a Tier 4 ship, but has a Tier 5 retrofit with appropriate stats and a new skin.

I've never flown it, but folks have said that it's more along the lines of a science cruiser in terms of mobility, and should be flown with appropriate tactics and loadout.

You could always try the Science Odyssey, but given your requirements that would be too much of a "typical" cruiser for your liking.

And yes, the Orb Weaver and Recluse Carrier are there if you're lucky or filthy rich :D

I'd guess those ways around the manuverabilty would involve having Aux to Dampeners available, or dropping in a RCS or two?

    1) High Engine power
    2) RCS consoles
    3) Evasive Maneuvers Doffs
    4) Deuterium
    5) Specced into Impulse

I dont recommend Aux to Dampners since you cant run Aux to SIF.

With the 5 listed, I get almost 20 degrees per second and plenty of "burst" maneuverability which is enough to run Dual Beam Banks and Torpedos, and all forward facing science abilities.

ericsonxx, I own the Atrox carrier, and I got it one of the first days it has been available.
This is my argument for the ship. Right now the recluse is a little better, but the chances of the rescluse getting nerfed are way more than the Atrox getting nerfed.
Also, I think that the Atrox is better in the first place.

1st question for you. What type of role are you looking for? DPS, support, CC?

2nd question. Once you answer #1, are you looking for a build also, because I will gladly tell you my Atrox build. (I just don't want to waste the time putting it up here if nobody will read it.)

It has the same maneuverability as a Nebula, which means 1 less turn rate than the D'Kyr. It's not that bad, and the 10th console slot means an RCS can be thrown in there to put it on par with the other science ships. Still, it's D'Kyr --> Nebula
    >Weaver in terms of distance between them.I'll not rant again on the subject, but it is sad that Cryptic is producing new ships that are far better than ones already in the CStore, while refusing to bring those ships up to par w/ abilities and the like. :(

Cause God knows when I'm gonna scrounge up the 50 or 70 mill for either one. Unless someone here wants to be crazy nice and hook a guy up.
