Do you have a weapon and/or console setup that clicks for you? As a race striving to better ourselves, we would like to hear about it! Can't seem to set your ship up just right? Can't last hardly five seconds against another player? Wish to make your escort ship more durable or nible? This is the place where great minds can come together and formulate the best combinations of weapons and equipment for both ground and space battles.

So let the brainstorming begin! Share with us the weapon setup that works for you, tell us what type of weapons you think works best, and tell us what setback you have, and we can solve it!

    escorts/battle cruisers

    4 DHC, aft turrets - any escort or vorcha
    3 DHC, 1 DBB, aft turrets - any escort or vorcha

    I did something strange to my Tactical Escort Retrofit while running SB Defense, put a pair of Beam Arrays on it.

    Fore: Phaser Quad-Cannons, Dual Heavy Cannons, Beam Array and Quantum Torp (3x Purple Projectile DOFFs)
    Aft: 2xTurrets and a Beam Array
    Borg Deflector, Omega Engines and Shields
    Engineering: Armor based on what I'm fighting, mostly Phaser/Disruptor for FM Events, Subspace Jumper and Either Cloak for SB Defense or EPS for Blockade
    Science: Borg Console and Field Generator
    Tac: 4x Phaser Relays

    I found in the more chaotic, catch-up SB Defenses where there are mostly Cruiser beam boats just fire at willing, it allowed me to get more DPS on my next target as I turned, surprisingly effective. EPS for Blockade cause of the constant full impulse running like a mad man.

    Just out of curiosity, how does 1 DBB + 2 DHCs + 1 Quantum Torp (with Torp spread 3) compare to 1 DBB + 3 DHCs, in terms of spike damage? I keep thinking the torps outperform for alpha-strike spike damage, but I dunno. . .

    DHCs on rapid fire can keep shields down and hammer away at hull while beam overload deals the spike damage, beam overloads can have some very nice critz and unlike torps work well on shields too.;)

    Though I don't delve into the PVP section often (if at all) I am curious to see what the pros say on your question.

    I've found that on average 1 DBB + 2 Dhcs will not have the damage required to pierce a shield or erode one away. Leaving that lone torp to smack rather harmlessly against shields.

    You pretty much Need, 3DHCs on an escort these days.

    1 Aft array, 1 mine launcher, 1 aft torp.

    I cant seem 2 do any dmg how can i improve?

    Horizon's xtra durable defiant layout:

    gear:

    4 DHC, 3 turrets (right now i like phased tetryons)

    borg deflector and engines, maco shield

    consoles:

    eng: Cloak, RCS, Borg console (sub Neutronium for RCS if the heat is really on)
    sci: 2x Field gens
    tac: 4x your weapon type

    devices:

    Rechargable shield battery (or regular), Subspace field Modulator (Devidian thing?)

    boff layout:

    TT1, CRF1, APO1, CRF3
    TT1, APD1, APO1
    EPTS1, RSP1
    PH1, TSS2

    doffs:

    3x evasives, 2x shield distros......all purps if you can

    power settings:

    attack: 100/25/50/25
    speed tanking: 25/75/75/25
    break form combat: 25/50/100/25
    aux heals: 25/50/25/100

    notes: spec this baby close to cruiser stats. heavy on defense and power levels. you should rarely ever use the full aux setting, rely on your speed tanking setting for defensive maneuvers and the full aux setting for when you have to throw that TSS and TT to your cruiser.

    notes on piloting: use your cloak wisely, 15 more seconds of you staying cloaked could mean an extra 50k damage in a ten second window when you pay attention to your targets buffs. alpha'ing some guy who has a tac team up is wasting your alpha. this build is about speed tanking. you can easily swap that shield battery for a weapons battery, and only spike every 2 minutes when is comes around. (trust me, you will like what happens when you stop jamming on every power that is available as soon as it is up. stack the buffs people, not enough of you do)

    notes on cannons: they are awesome at 3k from target. get good at matching your targets speed. also, if you go jamming on fire all weapons every 2 seconds the damn AI will jack up your cannon timing. try putting your weapons on auto, and only hitting the button once. focus all your button mashing energy on throttle control.

    It used to be, the order your weapons were was the order they fired. So DBB to the far right always made it last. That doesn't seem to be the case any more. Even with my torp in #4 it fires before my cannons. May be wrong but just a observation. In the past I relied on it for EPIC BO3 critz.

    this is correct.

    cryptic has been so inconsistant with how weapons fire and when, and they said they fixed that last "won't fire" bug.... but it happened to me last night. i have had far better experience when i just stop hitting the button constantly. bind everything else to another key if you have to, leave fire weapons off your main bind tho.

    I've learned a lot just from reading that post without even being in game yet, horizon, thanks. (And if anyone can talk about the Defiant it's horizon, I've seen it before and it's an absolute monster. Thing refuses to die and pretty much makes a mockery out of the other team).

    It punches all other spike damage in the nutz......and then it LAUGHS.

    But put away spread and use high yield.

    If you're hitting hull. If you can't manage to hit hull though I guess that's another issue. But that's pretty much why some people don't use the Torpedoes. They'll tell you its due to skill points or some ****. Whatever.

    Lol. You should follow the advice that experienced pvper posted, damn can't find the post, he said the "stock" ship with 50 power to all levels is the best. I'm sure you'll make the pandas proud :p

    your on the right track, but missing some important details. the stf weapons arent great in pvp, they actually deal less damage then non [borg] mod weapons. the rule of thumb on weapons is that you also want [acc]x2 or better to guaranty hits. having high acc also gives you beter critical hit chance if your weapons accuracy is significantly higher then your opponent's defense score.

    transphasics arent that great, and are just fire and forget against shielded targets. if your an escort you should be trying to blast shields down and delivering high yield torpedo damage through an open shield facing. this is best done with a HY quantum or photons firing every second thanks to doffs. or you could skip torpedoes altogether and use a duel beam bank and use beam overload with it. even if beam overload hits shields, it will still deal plenty of damage to them. torpedoes hitting shields only deal 1/4 of their damage. 4 DHC is also a good, foolproof weapons load out too. proboly best if your new to pvp, and maybe still best when your a veteran.

    on an escort your damage is everything, its best if you use 4 consoles that buff the energy type your using. the type of armor you use should depend on what the most threatening opponent is using. until i know, i use neutronium, that resists all. turn rate consoles make a huge difference on escorts too, try that out as well. if you use beam overload, you will want 1 eps console. in science consoles, its a good idea to use field generators to buff your shield hitpoints, or any universal consoles. if you use tetryon glider or tetryon or polaron weapons, maxing out flow capacitors and using flow capacitor consoles is also recommended.

    the 2 and 3 set bonuses of set items only work if the items area all at the same mx level. you would not be getting the tetryon glider unless your engine and deflector are both at the same MK. if you have an old MK X omega deflector, use that instead so you can get the glider bonus. in an escort, its always a good idea to have the retro borg set on hand. the 2 and 3 set bonuses can give you life saving heals, you can swap back and forth between it and omega gear depending on if you need offense or defense more.

    Being a traditionist, I like 1 DBB (BO) + 2 DHCs (CrF) + 1 Torp (Hy/Ts) for the well-timed shield pop, Cannon hull weakening Torpedo follow through. The admittedly I am out pratice on the timing.
    Also I like a good all turrets plus Dem combo for the light show.

    I didn't get a chance to fully explain my set up before becasue of my time crunch, so let me recap for a bit. Currently, I have on my NX class escort ship:

    Bow
    Dual Antiproton Beam Bank (acc) (CritH) (Borg)
    Rapid Reload Transphaic torpedo launcher Mk XI

    Stern
    Antiproton Beam Array Mk X (Acc) (CritH) (Borg)

    Consoles/equipment
    Engineering: Parametallic hull plating Mk X
    Science: Shield emmitter amplifier Mk IX
    Tactical: Universal Grappler, Antiproton mag regulator Mk XI
    Shields: MACO resilient Shield array Mk XII
    Engines: OMEGA Force Hyper Impulse Mk X
    Deflector: OMEGA force tacyon deflector Mk XII

    Now, I DO have the complete borg assimilated gear, which includes the universal console, the deflector, engines, and shields. However, I didn't find it that practical on an escort ship since there isn't that many spaces on it for the parts and that I only get an assimilated tractor beam in addition to my grappler. So I just keep it in storage until I need it on my mirror class assault cruiser, or for those sticky situations where I might one day need it. By the way, what other things can the full borg gear do for my ship other than give me a tractor beam?

    Now, before you ask me why am I fly an escort ship, I would just like to say that even though assault cruisers are stronger and more powerful, they are clumsy and turn like a beached whale. You just can't fight with style in those clunkers like that. All you can do is just fly in circles, shoot from the side and hope you don't get broadsided by a torpedo. I like escorts becasue I can out-manuver most ships and fly circles around borg cubes. And I like the Nx class best becasue I love the ST:E TV series. In the PVP games, escorts can get out of almost ANY sticky situation, but I want to be able to last longer in a staring competition against an assault cruiser or oddesy cruiser. Have any ideas?

    my keyboard is covered in beer damnit! :D i did a damn spit take once i realized you were actually asking how to make your tier 1 nx better, all decked out in end game gear as if that was somehow a viable option! dude, use your ship token to get a fleet escort and get back to us, jesus christ!

    you are not flying an escort, that ship is only slightly more capable then a shuttle. fleet escort or advanced escort. if you got to level cap you should have 2 tier 5 tokens, or you can buy ether for a handful of dilithium

    you can equip the borg console, deflector and engine and still get all the heals the borg set offers. you get the tractor beam if you equip all 4. right click on a piece of the set and look at the bonus you get for how much of it you have equiped. do the same for all the sets you have.

    I recently switched to target subsystem shields III and it works wonders. Who needs all cannon builds when you can do surgical strike with single beam and nuke target's hull. LOL the 40% chance to disable shield facing is priceless, especially if you time it after enemy EPtS and have some points in subspace decompilers.

    Disable Shields + buffs + HYT + Torpedo Console = GG

    I would love to see the faces of people who thought they are safe with their lovely green RSP diaper or TT+EPtS+TSS combo while I nuked their hull away with my torps and cannons while their facing was down.

    There are many options actually how to setup your ship. Some builds are just raw power, some can surprise the enemy. In any case, ~80% of the performance is player skill, just the 20% is loadout.

    I have pretty horrible loadout on my Akira, most people would say useless or subpar, yet I still blow stuff up and end up high in top dmg done.
