Why is the Odyssey Science Cruiser the only science ship in the game (that i've found so far anyway) that can't target subsystems?

The answer's in the name: It's the Odyssey Science Cruiser, meaning it's a cruiser first, science vessel second. If you want a ship with science vessel gimmicks and cruiser toughness, you're probably better off looking at a Deep Space Science Vessel, or maybe the Nebula or catboat.

As a science ship I found it to be useless or worthless
As a ship for a science character to use.
    Also a waste of Zen
It's a pretty good warehouse to store items I'n

A commander engineer boff ruins the ship
    A science character without commander
    Science skills is a waste.

    That's my humble opinion
    Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
    Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng

JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

Sci oddy is a great ship, if your playing a sci captain for sci skills then use a sci ship. If your playing a sci captain for its captain skills then oddy works just fine and is quiet good with a sci captain.

Its no a science ship, its just a bit more sciency than your average cruiser, same with the tac version and is obviously not a escort.

You do realize that there is little to no connection between having a science character and using science abilities, right? I've got a science captain in an MVAE, an Odyssey Tactical Cruiser, and a Deep Space Science Vessel; one character per ship. You presume that because it has science in the name, it must be flown like a science ship. I fly my science captain's Odyssey with Extend Shields, Engineering Team, Emergency to Weapons, etc. The only science abilities are a single hazard emitters and Sci Team 2; this ship functions as very effective team support. My Science captain in an escort uses the combination of cannon rapid fire and subnucleonic beam to deliver deadly alpha strikes.

The Oberth can't target subsystems either.

But as its been said its more of a cruiser with extra science slots, not a true science ship. But it does get the sensor analysis ability, which is very nice to have.
My Romulan Liberated Borg character made it to Level 30 and beat the (old) Defense of New Romulus with the skill point bug. :D
