Greetings!
I'm back to the game after a very long break, and buying some zen and using my previous unspent points (from cryptic era:D) I have been able to get my hands on a recluse carrier (FOR FUTURE USE).
And now im gonna create a new character (I dont feel a ''connection anymore to my old one after almost 1.5-2 yrs) .. And I was wondering which Starfleet Career to pick.
Mainly; Im interested in commanding large ships, staying put in the middle of battlefield and firing at all directions without too much manuevers...
So I guess Engineer + Cruiser combo sounds nice for me, right ?

But the thing is, i have a soft spot for carriers as well, umm, to be honest, I love em!
Alas, we all know that Carrier captains may traditionally be taking a slightly ''hands-off'' approach to combat, sending their fighters to do the fighting instead.
Well, a friend in game told me that the Recluse Carrier is a little bit of an exception to other carriers in the game (from what i understand);
AS rolling an engineer captain and filling that universal slot with a commander engineer boff should grant the ship enough survivability for even front line assaults. Sure, it prolly wont be a dps machine, but shouldn't be an easy picking, either?)
A little more bit of details: Choosing an engineer captain helps with keeping up the high energy levels and survivability.
And this way u can get 4 shield heals, 3 hull heals plus 4 extra sci skills.
I was thinking that if i love carriers, BUT if i also like standing in the thick of things and blasting away, maybe this engineer/carrier combo would fit me better than the sci/carrier combo for the recluse?
I am NOT asking you guys to choose one for me, im just asking here for YOUR OPINIONS, as i have been away from the game for such a long time, and creating a new toon now, i think any advice that i can get here could help me make a better decision for myself.
Thank you for reading and any possible answers in advance

That said, I have given some thought about an engineer in one of those pokey ships.
I mean, a Cmdr. Engineer, a Lt. Cmdr Engineer, Lt. Cmdr. Science, is an amazing combination for an engineer.
Just think, Science Team 3, E-power to shields 3, and Transfer Shield Strength 3, all on ONE ship. Makes me giddy thinking about it.
BUT...even with an engineer in it, a science ship is still a science ship, specifically a carrier in this case. Just as something to keep it mind. It does still work best as a science role, but it can handle very well as an engineering one, IMO.
I think that going tac with eng. or sci. commander would give you DPS and tanking ability. It really depends on if you want your fighters to do most of the damage while you are alive. Or if you want your carrier to extra damage + your fighters damage.
