I find I love the Vo'Quv. Been looking forward to carrier play from day 1, it's pretty much what I hoped for now I'm up here at 48 of 50. It really is a vessel that could take down a fleet or a planet or system alone. Klingon 'Science' is the Science of taking a system unsupported. Flying it isn't exactly new as I was using Cruisers before specifically to prepare for it, plus even Fed side I was using Cruisers because it's style(Slow, Heavy, DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR PIDDLY ATTACKS whilst still dealing it's significant damage) is what i wanted.
The pets seem to be aggressive little buggers, but it's not always a problem. I've sort of tried to set up for power drain(Polarons, Tyken's Rift, Target Subsystems, considering buying Power Siphons), but it's hard to say whether it's working.
Been looking for things speaking of how people fly theirs, and not finding much in general.
Talk to me. Tell me what you know of flying Vo'Quvs. I'm learning a bit-in Fleet Defence and Cure(Defending the Kang) I tend to play defence with Shield Drones, otherwise all Birds of Prey-but in most ways I always feel like a fool. A newbie. I'm absolutely terrified of messing something up during something important like an Elite(Haven't been in one yet, through that fear).
Just build it as a sci-tank, and you're flying a monster.
TT/EPtS/TSS/HE (x2 each), Aux2SIF for heals, APO1 for short bursts of maneuverability (and some extra damage), Tiken's and Grav-well for CC, AoE threat and extra shield stripping.
All beams to strip down shields fast, then watch your pets finish whatever in record time.
Carriers can tank nearly as well as cruisers, can keep up sustained dps as high as an escort, and carry all the goodies of a SV. 'Only reason they're not considered #1 OP is that they can be actually killed in PvP.
In PvE ... no contest. You can solo Borg Red Alerts in a carrier. 'Only reason you can't solo STFs is that you sometimes would have to be in three places at once, and you can only be in two. Only.
Best bet in STFs is to use 2x BOPS (you can spawn 4 at a time)
They can manage great damage, and do good against structures. That and their disruptors add a breach effect to whatever they hit.. so it increases their torp damage and any damage you eventually do.
I suggest having a gravity well in your build somewhere. Holding things is pretty important.
I mention in there that GW is nice to have although I wasn't using it at the time. It really is a great tool in PVE. And you really can work both torpedo launchers for spreads very easily, and combined with the GW it gives the ship some strong damage.
Consoles:
Eng: 2x Neutronium, Borg
Sci: 3x Emitter Array, Field Gen x1
Tac: 2x Polaron
sometimes throw the leech in there, somewhere.
For Blockade, get 2 hangars of shield repair drones escorting the freighter. You won't even have to fire a shot.
(GW then Chroniton spread helps tho).
For other stuff, I pack advanced To'Duj.
If you spec full flow capacitors and Tykens/siphonx2, and siphon drones, you can leave even the tac cube or donatra dead in the water.
Makes for a good laugh.
Hope that helps!
