havent played the game in about 3 months cuz i was living out in the middle of nowhere. thinking about coming back and just wondering what gear and skills are broke and considered match breaking atm so as not to use OP gear cuz i dont like winning unless its by luck or skill.

Only thing that really bothers me is still phasers. They've supposedly been made less offensive but honestly I haven't felt it. I guess part of it is my own fault since I run pretty crappy standard one-system batteries and I don't have the RMC, but you still have to grit your teeth when you come to a complete standstill and die to a random engines/shields proc.

I have to admit that you often meet some drain carriers and they are annoying but there are still matches, FvK and even KvK (they exist! (sometimes)) without them.
Also my guild has 5 members and if I ever manage to get them all online at the same time I might be able to force them to pvp with me which would result in a klingon premade without any drains (ok some might use polaron but thats it).
Without doubt for me Siphon drones are the most OP in game. You can do absolutely nothing about it. but sit there and get drained to death. You can hit red matter and EPS if your an engy and still have no power. Basicly no counter to it at all.

Let me try and rephrase that, if every gear/skill part is 100% equally effective, there is no fun and joy to try and get the best possible combination/build on a ship now is there?
The actual thing that would make any of these skils significant is the fact that some of them are single clickable and have no requirement with timing in combination with other skills.
Like the poster above already mentioned, Power siphons drain you to like 10 per powerlevel or whatever the number is, with a single click, or just spam it. Requires zero skill or timing. These are the things that can be considered OP.
Personally I see the siphon drainers in Ker'rat the most, and wow a 1v1 can take up to 10 minutes in rare occasions simply because you cannot do anything. But wow, the skill level of the players that take these kinds of builds is just appalling. Too bad a skilled player can still find the gaps and micromanaging ability timings to take them down

With siphons, at least you can get away.

I agree, and the ship setting those danubes after you, is a top-damage escort, that can truly take advantage of your immobility!
I like akira, but do not like the pets. Gimme the possibility to equip console in hangar and you have 6 peregrines less in pvp.

For me its the siphon drones. Tractors I can manage. No power equates to no evasive equating to NO get away. Only thing that works is the impulse capacitance cell.
Also if you have no power, you cannot destroy them so how is that NOT OP compared to tractors?

I've tested it. It is a capped drain at 50% of what it says it can do, it doesn't stack, and can be 100% resisted with Power Insulators.
The only thing overpowered with it is how many hits it can take before it blows up. And the radiation damage if you have enough points in the damage and are buffing the Aceton Assimilator with Tactical skills.

Drones are slow and dumb/ very bad ai.
a. if you keep moving and not just sit there u will out run them.
b. they very often leave target when another player has any skill in the taunt modifier.
Advance interceptors = Very fast , perfect ai, and shuts down engines and weapons. If you want to complain, complain about somthing really op

Other than that, there aren't really OP skills lest at this point.
Glider is pretty insane still, so that would be my other pick.
Now underpowered and Trash Skills on the other hand. Oh boy where do I start the list.
