Feedback - Ship Prefixes

Hello.

I just felt the need to point out the EXTREMELY AGGREVATING fact that ships not belonging to the Federation (Like the Caitian Atrox or D'Kora marauder) have Federation Registries and Prefixes. It annoyes me to heck whenever i see a guy with a D'Kora named the 'USS Shipname, NCC-233123131321312323-ADKNSFN' and so on. It should be BASED ON RACE- Like the Gorn for the Klinks having the GHV- Prefix, or the Orions and Ferengi having Piratey-like names, like the Profit or Brigand's Bounty. I don't know about everyone else, but if this was Z-Store material, I'd pay for it. (IMHO), Immersion is a HUGE Factor in ANY MMO, especially a one based in Star Trek. You want your ships to be Unique and Creative, each with it's own individuality, like with the Enterprise or the Defiant fron ST Canon. I find too often my ships, espceially the unique ones, only used for the Special Consoles and then thrown away afterwords and things too quickly falling into Monotony. If you are a KDF Player, YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

This also ties into the fact of Non-customizable Ship Crew or Interior, but i'm sure there are plenty of threads for the Devs already for this. Any comments are appriciated.

And cryptic, don't get me wrong, I understand the huge cost and time-consumption of an MMO in dev, but I think at least you can address some of these Minor issues that really detract from the game experience.

In short...

CRYPTIC, I AM DISSAPOINT.

Thankz youz. Any comments welcome :)

The ships themselves are Starfleet's, or the KDF's. You're a captain, working for Starfleet/KDF, doing Starfleet/KDF business while flying it, so it gets a (surprise) Starfleet/KDF registry number and prefix.

It doesn't matter if it's a catboat, tholian web-shooter, bug or a Gekli with a captain's chair stapled to its back (next C-store ship please!), if it's used by the faction, it gets that faction's registry.

It's even lore-supported, since the Caitians made the Atrox design available to the Feds, who then jazzed it up with magic science powers. It's a catboat, but a STARFLEET catboat.

Uh, if you want your ships to be so unique, maybe you should, well, stop using them only for the special consoles and throwing them away afterwards? Just a suggestion.

Mind you, the players who want the ISS prefix for their Mirror ship's must be mounting.

    definitely...

The possible prefixes could be locked based upon ship type.

Look, I use the Atorx carrier and I would hate to see the U.S.S. go away. Just because you like an idea doesn't mean that the rest of us do.

I'd think that it should be optional,
like choosing between USS and ISS for mirror ships.

Who says you have to dump the U? Let us use whatever prefix we want for our ships... im in favour of scratching off part of the U to make a I.

OP its a Ship thats inservice to Starfleet. As such it would be given a Reg number and its SS would be come a USS As Start fleet uses the USS as a Designation of its Flagged Fleet.

I use the NX instaed of the NCC due all my ships never go with a default or Atrox being a Unique Ship. So theres the diference! But Following Naval rules Cryptic has it correct!

Gorn, Orion, and Nausican ships should NOT be IKS, but as far as Jem'Hadar, Galor, ect goes, they should be USS or IKS as they are owned by those entities.

I however would like everyone to have the option of just using S.S. so that we can rp as a privateer or something.

I thought the Caitains were part of the Federation...? One is seen in Starfleet uniform in one of the films and there was a Caitain character in the animated TOS series as well.

In the real world, if a ship is on loan to another country and manned by the loaning country's crew, the ship's prefix would not likely be changed no matter how long the arrangement. By contrast, if the ship on loan (or lease or whatever) and is manned by the receiving country's crew, it is almost certainly given a prefix of the receiving country. If a ship is sold or given to another country, that ship will always be given the ship owner's prefix, not the prefix of the country that sold/gave it.

My Atrox is manned by non-Caitians. It is owned by the Federation and being flown in its service. It is supposed to have a Federation prefix. Even if that were not the case, the Caitians are, as someone else pointed out, part of the Federation. Suggesting that a Federation ship being flown by Federation citizens shouldn't have a Federation prefix is not really supportable.

In the Science Fiction Universe of Star Trek Online the ships Designation is limited by the Federations rule that all ships adhere to the NX or USS prefixes and the coding with in the game.

Also the KDF passed a law that all ships serving the KDF or as Vassals* of the KDF require the IKS prefix.

Yes Vassals not Vessels. Look it up Joe!
I was once DKnight1000, apparently I had taken my own name so now I'm DKnight0001.

I fully understand the whole 'Owned-by-State' thing. Maybe it would be a choice, like the NX prefix in the C-Store. Buy it, 'quip it, see it in space kind-of-thing.

Like, you could have the whole standard USS or IKS prefix, or buy privelidges to let you change the prefix to something else, like ICC (Or ISS) or GHV- for Gorn ships.

    HINT HINT DEVS.

Also, I don't just use the special ships for the consoles. i try as hard as I can to keep using them, but for most players, compared to better ships that they may prefer (Such as using a VA-Level ship at VA Level rather than a Lt. Level Ship at VA Level), it becomes unviable for most players.

(Sorry for being a TRIBBLE ****** when I first posted this :3)
