What can new or casual players contribute to a fleet?

The subject says it all.

Personally, I am interested in the fleet content but I don't play very much. I am not in a fleet because I don't have time to do STFs or scheduled events. However with the Fleet Starbases, it sounds like there is more that players can do to help their fleet and get something in return.

Can anyone help shed light on some of the Fleet content and why, if at all, it's good to be in a fleet even if you can't spend much time with the fleet?

Well, as a fleet leader i'll do my best to answer all of your questions.

First, with season 6 added, fleet content includes about 3 new PvE's available to any level of player within a fleet, which grants fleet tokens. You can donate to fleet projects which help to create starbases, which is really nice. Plus, once you get enough fleet credits (currency for helping with projects) you can purchace some top-level equipment!

Plus, most fleets tend to help their members, so if you need help with runthroughs and missions they can assis you there. If your looking for a fleet who won't mid you being gone a lot I'd love to have you. We're rather forgiving on that reguard. :P

The missions can actually be fun, & the new items look pretty interesting (I've been contemplating picking up a couple of them). Not to mention the fleet versions of ships (if you're interested in those). There are a couple of casual fleets in-game for players that don't get to play much, for one reason or another.
The Last Order, the fleet I'm in, is one of them. "RL Comes First" has been the motto of the fleet for over 2 yrs now, & it hasn't changed. The majority of the fleet (I'd say, safely, around 70 members or so) are adults who enjoy the game but have lives to live (so any of us could be gone for extended periods of time). We help each other a great deal, not to mention running missions together, or just generally chilling out & chatting. And needless to say, if you want to run solo, you'd still have access to whatever the fleet has or can help you with.
Despite being as casual as we are, we do fairly well in virtually any aspect of the game. If you're interested in joining a casual fleet, msg me & I'll answer any questions you may have.
"If your conscience is bothering you, you should sooth it with the knowledge that you may have just saved the ENTIRE Alpha Quadrant. And all it cost was the life of one Romulan senator, one criminal, & the self-respect of one Starfleet officer. I don't know about you, but I call that a bargain." - Elim Garak

Quite a bit, really. Even if you're not instancing with "the lot", you can be a contributor to the construction of the starbase, socializing with the rest, and even helping out with information for new players as they come (and they will continue to come).

Ok, understanding a bit more. So by doing the fleet projects/missions, you earn fleet credits/tokens/marks and also earn starbase xp. The starbase xp is needed for upgrades and the fleet credits/tokens/marks are for you to spend on special fleet items such as ships. That about right?
