Is that unnatural hight bonus for PSW III from particle generators compared to version I and II intention? Or it is just overlooked bug?
If you max particle generator space skill, you will get roughly 50% improvement for PSW1, but you will get close to 200% improvement on version 3. That's .. odd. If you throw consoles to the math, it's off the charts for any other skill in game.
I'm the last person who wants sci (even more) gimped, but PSW3 seems too fishy to me. And I do not like using fishy abilities :-(

Leave sci abilities well alone buddy. Its not that its disproportional to the rest, its the opposite. The rest of the abilities have been gimped so much that it looks better than the rest. Carry on with this thread and the sci sci will RIP.....lol
If base numbers are weak (and yes they are), they should be buffed. But if there is a bug with a bonus from a space skill, then it should be fixed. Just because science is gimped, bugs should not be ignored.
I would rather have bug free environment where some sort of balance can come, instead of a status quo approach (or rather Cryptic approach), where bugs are tolerated so at least some ability is usable.

I killed a BoP pilot yesterday with a 30k hit. Feels fishy, but since everyone is silent...I will continue to use it.

Honesty bug or not I am fine with it... might be nice to see the dmg increased on PSW 1... but hey perhaps that was a way to keep the Shocking Mvam / Bops at bay.
Its a commander skill that even with doffs doesn't really have a great up time... considering the lack of good sci options at commander I think its good as is. Gives sci/sci a nice bump in dmg... its not like its any more game changing then spamming VM.
Well to sum it up. I do not have problem with the ability itself, not with the dmg or so, just the oddity in skill scaling with particle generators.

PSW2 +50% dmg
PSW3 +200% dmg
CPB1 +50% dmg
CPB2 +50% dmg
CPB3 +50% dmg
See the pattern ? Imagine the situation on something that is more used. Imagine if BO3 got for some reason such bonus from +phaser skill (including consoles) over other skills.

Indeed I see your point... I would like to see it corrected... more like averaged and smoothed out. Numbers that make sense , PSW 1 getting a dmg bump and PSW 3 getting a slight reduction. As you said it gets a big boost from just 1 or 2 consoles.
It's kinda weird because I think on the one hand they wanted to keep people from just taking PSW2 (even though there aren't that many Lt. Com. Sci ships that can would be able to make it work at that level anyway) but on the other hand it's like they're addressing the Sci BoP build without actually acknowledging that it exists. No one else can slot PSW2 so what's the point?
