60% damage resistance to all energy on mk12 Tholian Shield.
Mk12 Tholian Gun deals Cold Damage and has the same base damage as a regular pulsewave.
Cold damage is not resisted to any significant degree by any armor in the game.
Cold damage is not Energy and is therefore not resisted by the Tholian Shield.
Therefore, the Tholian Mk 12 gun does more than double the damage of a regular pulsewave to shields, assuming the target is wearing the Tholian Shield (which they should be, because everything else is terrible by comparison.
And it does more than double the damage of a regular pulsewave to health, because armor does not resist Cold damage and debuffs to resistance are linear when they are negative.
This whole scenario sounds ridiculous if true. It can't be true! It's so stupid that anybody could put this through test server and much less on live.
The Mk XII set wasn't tested on the test server and the regular set was only on the test server a few days before it hit holodeck, meaning there was no time to test it (hence why the set bonus on it is broken and doesn't work when fighting Tholians).
What's even better is MACO 2 piece's shield recharge and the Tholian shield. People are completely unkillable while that's going... unless you blast them with the Mk XII Cryo Pulsewave.
I hate to say it, but lolground is finally true. P2W is here. Let's just hope it gets nerfed repeatedly like the Devidian weapons and items did.

The 'mk12' modifier is a bit misleading, as well. The modifiers and special characteristics also change, like the +60% all damage resistance on the shield, and an extra 2% critical chance on the gun. It's not just a higher level, it's a different set of items.
I don't have any of the base stuff (since killing lava spiders over and over is boring), but from what I've heard from fleetmates, it comes from the reward boxes for medium/hard missions.
Someone who's actually done it and found this stuff, feel free to correct me.

Yes. It boggles the mind, really. Then again, the main reason I don't do ground stuff is because I run into a lot of lag/low framerate, especially in PvP. In space, that's manageable. On the ground, where it can be ridiculously easy to get killed (especially if you're a tac officer), it's less manageable. Not only that, but you run into stuff and get stuck on stuff a lot more.
My PvP toon is Krov, of The House of Snoo. Beware of my Hegh'ta of doom.
I constantly run around with a framerate of 5-10 on the ground (and like... slideshow in space pvp, pve is fine). It certainly sucks getting caught on a door or a crate and often leads to deaths, but you get used to it eventually.
There's something about Shanty Town though, that just makes the game unplayable for me. Once in a blue moon I'll get normal FPS on that map and not be a complete liability. It must be the pretty sky that has a billion effect layers that my graphics probably card doesn't even render properly.

there is literally an item that gives you 60% resistance to energy weapons in the game star trek online. literally. that item right there. i try not to take this stuff to seriously but i am stunned by this. oh and lets make a weapon that has a damage type that loopholes all established resists, so its unresistable, thats another great idea.
@eiledon: thanks for the pictures of the suit and stats. It looks nice, but Cryptic can't even pretend that this is anything but broken, blatent p2w TRIBBLE. Talk about money grab that is way better (stat-wise) than even the mk 12 STF sets.

Resistance doesn?t work like that. First the shield only gives resistance to shield hitpoints while the armor only gives resistance to health. Next armour resistance works differently to shield resistance so 55 to armour is around about 30% resistance on the info page.
I see nothing wrong with the shield it?s good for PvP and Elite where you sued to get 1 shot killed. Now you can take a hit or two.
im not to familior with the finer points of ground equipment, but an item giving you 60% resistance sounded absurd. i do know ground shields auto heal extreamly quickly, so a shield that disregards 60% of damage on top of the mad regeneration in cover seems quite op. the maco only has 10%? ya this still seems out of wak.

So it?s a good thing. No more 1 shot kill shields, 1 shot kill person. It makes ground combat more like space where you can take a few good hits. Now ground is more like space fights which can only be good.

I had one of the set peices, then picked up 10 of the Advanced rare boxes off the Exchange for about 41k a piece and got two and a half sets out of opening them, I like getting sets but don't want to grind the **** out of the tholian grounds to get it.
