i have a quick question, im interested in using tykens rift, when you use tykens rift high aux effects it...but is it just when you fire it or do you have to maintain high aux through the duration of the rift to keep its as effective as when you cast it?

The moment the power is used is what matters for aux.

Don't bother with it, though. Tyken's has been pretty much useless since Season 2.

they introduced a doff that might multi spawn tykens rifts, and combined with the polarons.... could open up some windows of oppertunity.

Tested Tyken's Rift with high aux. There was no difference in the power drain in the aux power. Wouldn't be surprised if it flow capacitors don't affect it as well even though it says otherwise.

Tyken's is most definiately still affected by Aux and Flow Capacitors. 2 rare mk XI consoles will take Tyken's 3 from 12.3 to 13.5 drain per sec. But its still a joke since season 5. Drain used to be double that.

I still miss the old Tykens rift from when the game went live, it was my staple offensive skill when I used to fly my sceince ship! :-)

Sure it says that on the GUI, but the person receiving it says otherwise.

Tyken's drain is offset by Power insulators and probably EPS power recovery. 6 in both will reduce the drain to pretty much nothing. Which is why it sucks now :(

The only situation where it is useful is if you are running plasmodic leech along with it.

    Theoretically, yes.

Except the drain got neutered, and everyone and their mother is running with drain resistances.

I wish Tyken's (and GW) got fixed. Then maybe there'd be a decent Cmdr Sci ability other than PSW 3.

Tyken's is like a single siphon drone on you, you can out regenerate its drain. Tyken's proboly needs to have stacking over time debuffs for it to do anything. at least it goes away after a few seconds, unlike drones

Last time I checked, it stacks twice. As in 1 Rift will put two stacks of drain on you.

evidently what 2 stacks will do is not enough. maybe it should do something like take away 20% of your power if your near by it, instead of removing some every tic

When season 5 hit, I tested it a bit on tribble. With 6 in Flow capacitors, against someone running 6 in EPS and PI, the drain total came out to a grand total of 1-3 power drain. They really need to address how drains work and develop a consistent drain mechanic.

It doesn't matter as long as I am using the same test subject(same person). I can simply hit a full aux Tyken's Rift and take that to be the base. Reduce aux, hit with Tyken's Rift again and calculate the difference. The resistances would just cancel out.
