was flying around sector space today with my delta flyer pet out a thought passed by my head. when we are out in sector space when a doff completes a mission, we can see their shuttle fly up to us and dock.
seems it could be done by spawning a shuttle pet far away from the ship that fly's up behind it and disappears.
I remember it being on the list of things they wanted to do but I think engine limitations prevented it. Imagine if everyone in the zone had multiple DOff missions expire at the same time. It'd be a rendering nightmare. Just imagine an instance full of carriers releasing the max number of ships to get an idea of what chaos it would cause.

Cryptic, I have an "artsy" suggestion that I ask you please consider:
When we send our Doffs out on assignments perhaps, in some cases, can we also see a shuttle craft leave our ship and perhaps have one return when their mission is over?
Just an idea.

I can understand not wanting to see a cutscene over and over.
I had hoped they could have had a small shuttle come and go without a cutscene.. Like a Del Taco shuttle pet type thing which would fly away from your ship (and eventually return) as you travel through sector space.
The problem is that the duty officer assignment interface takes up a big chunk of the screen, so unless you had a monster monitor, you wouldn't be able to see the shuttle. Geko would really like to do this, though, so we're still looking into something like when you close the window it activates the effect...but that might require tech.

Especially if they all had engine trails. That's why we no longer have flashlights ingame except for that one mission. Too many possible lightsources.
