all things being equal number of dil per zen should drop from the dil per cpoint rate, to about 80% of its current price.. but who knows...

All I can say is...it's about time! PWE bought cryptic from Atari a long time ago. When I found out about this, I stopped buying c-points, because I, too, got sick of losing money on the whole conversion thing. I still most likely won't spend any money on zen either; but that's more becase pwe will also be "adjusting" prices in the in-game store, so we won't actually be gaining anything either. Now, it will cost MORE than 20 bucks for the big ships! This game is awesome, don't get me wrong. I haven't been able to stop playing since I started. With that in mind, however, there's not a "virtual" ship in this game worth even 20 bucks of my hard earned money, and now they are going to want more??? I would have thought that pwe would do more to make this transition a bit more economical for the players, not for themselves.

By the by, if you're in Canada it's a better deal with the exchange rate to buy Zen cards at the 7-11.
All PWE transactions in the North America zone default to USD.

My only question is this: Before Perfect World bought the game, what were the prices on things in the c-store? If they did not change when PWE took over, then that means that PWE was TRIBBLE us in real money through the converison from Zen to c-points. If the prices on store items did not change, then we ended up having less buying power per dollar spent on game money because of this.

Now, my point is, if the store prices were the same after the change of ownership as they were before PWE took over, then to be honest and fair, PWE should realy just change the currency to Zen and leave the store prices alone, so that parity is re-established in terms of store item prices to cost in terms of in-game money.

Here is an example of what I mean. (Please bear in mind, this only works if store prices did not change when PWE aquired the game.)

    Pre PWE takeover $ - C-points : $10.00 = 1000 c-points.

    Pre PWE takeover store price for 1000 C-point ship = 1000 c-points.

    Post PWE takeover $ - c-points : $10.00 = 800 c-points (after being converted from zen)

    Post PWE takeover store price for 1000 c-point ship = 1000 c-points.

    Total cost for 1000 c-point ship = $12.50
Post game currency change to Zen : $10.00 = 1000 Zen.

Post game currency change to Zen cost of formerly 1000 c-point ship : 1250 Zen.

    Total cost for formerly 1000 c-point, now 1250 Zen, ship = $12.50.

Increase in purchasing power : None.
I freely admit that I am lacking any info on what exactly happened with the Cryptic store in STO after Perfect World took over the game, so I may be quite wrong with my above calculations, but it seems to me that we are not gaining anything from the conversion of the game currency to Zen, except not having to deal with an exchange rate from Zen to c-points. If anyone knows if and what changes in store prices may have happened when PWE took over, please go ahead and post it so persons like myself, who only started playing after the game went FtP, will have a better idea of what has changed.

    Thanks!

i am not even getting into the maths again (plenty of threads around with fully explained answers) for the hard of understanding...

just leaving this here. the cryptic cpoint has ALWAYS been worth 1.25 us cents. $10 never ever got you 1000 cpoints. $25 got you 2000 cpoints (the cost of an armitage for example). today $25 gets you 2500 zen which gets you -- ooh 2000 cpoints. from the date of final removal of cpoints (finally) $25 will still get you 2500 zen, which will still buy you an armitage (the price will be 2500zen)

never mind the free zen for buying in bulk and the frequent 15% bonus zen sales. And the more transparent pricing (80:$1 ration hides the true price in game - marketing love this sort of thing).

So, no improvement to the paying gamer at all.

Well, I'm happy they go with the 25-500 dil range for 1 Zen on the exchange instead of the 50-750 one that was in the tribble patch notes. With 25-500 dil, they're expanding the range on both ends (just converting the current 50-500 dil per 1 CP gets us to 40-400 dil per 1 Zen).

I guess I can't rant about the possible (and likely) devaluation of dilithium when there's hope it could gain more value than it ever had. :D
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class.
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
    Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!

You do realize, it costs you 25$ for 2000 Cryptic Points right now? That's the cost for the VA Ships basically in the store. But guess what, you can now just get 20$ of Zen and it equals out to 1600 Cryptic Points which can buy you a Tactical Escort Retrofit or a B'Rel Bird-of-Prey.

The conversion will be the damn same for all items. Things that cost 2000 Cryptic Points will be 2500 Zen, which is 25$. :| Idiots.

Your sentence didn't make sense at all.

    1. 8,000 is the limit on Dilithium per day, there isn't a limit to Cryptic Points on your account.
    2. The 25% increase means that 80 cryptic points will be 125 Zen. A 25% increase.
    3. The prices in the store will reflect the changes from Cryptic to Zen points. For example: 1600 Cryptic Points for a Tactical Escort Retrofit or B'Rel Bird-of-Prey = 2000 Zen... 2000 CP Ship = 2500 Zen. Which is all the SAME DAMNABLE PRICE that we've ALL been paying.

Indeed. Sounds like indirect confirmation as the store on Tribble is on the zen model already.

perhaps read the faq linked in Bran's opening post. Your question is specifically answered there.

    2. The 25% increase means that 80 cryptic points will be 125 Zen. A 25% increase.

Nope. If you had 80 cpoints before conversion on thursday you will have 100 zen afterwards. That is 25% increase. 125 zen would be a 56ish % increase

    In general, you're right...

Just wanted to point out that a 25% increase to 80 is 100, not 125...

Is there anyway to buy zenpoints with paypal without making a new billing profile, i rather use paypal details instead of giving PWE my personal details on top of the paypal address when paypal simply provides all that on thier system.
