Now this file is dated April 2010, so it's about a month after I started playing, before there was a Vice admiral rank.
Regarding the Halon Mk X with +30 hazard system, this was back when Cryptic first nerfed science consoles... Problem was the old consoles still had the previous stats. Eventually they got around to retro-nerfing them as well.
So lets have a look at my stupid old build.
The first thing you notice is there's no borg set pieces, because if I remember rightly they didn't exist... To be honest, I kinda preferred it that way, since builds were much less cookie cutter.
Not really much to say about the equipment, since there were no real bad bad choices back then except when it came to shields.
EPS regulators are there to combat the power drain, since weapon power didn't recharge instantly. It's rather a shame we lost that gameplay mechanic, since it force people to be careful with regards to weapon power drains.
Why I have a shield amp I have no idea. Yes it'll boost the covariants recharge rate, but it's so poor that it might as well not be there.
Yes, Mk X phaser relays really gave +30 to phasers.
Now on to the big screwups, my Boff setup:-
Why do I have tactical team!? This was well before it's transformation into a mini reverse shield polarity. I'm sure I don't remember boarding party being spammed all that much back then. I can only assume I wanted it for the slight buff to weapon damage.
Only one emergency power to shields!? EPtS1 at that. No wonder I needed two reverse shield polarities (though to be fair, back in those days we kept on running up against godfather and ninjas premades which made a habit of one shot kills).
Aceton field 3? The only reason I can guess as to why I have that, is that I didn't have access to any other better powers.
To anyone deluded who thinks this is a good build, IT IS NOT!
Comments
Phaser cannons and turrets were to combat the anti beam feedback pulse. From what I remember they worked exceptionally well.
Tactical stations are fine, actually better then the last build.
But...
*cough**hack**splurt* FOUR REVERSE SHIELD POLARITIES!? I am the god of all newbies!

I think this was about the time I started min-maxing my build.
Okay the weapon setup is certainly not one I'd choose now, but I remember trying to maximise forward firepower so I could get a torp through a downed shield... I'd have done a lot better without the torp on the aft. Judging from my tactial console setup, I was putting much of my hopes on a torp hitting someones hull. Somewhere around this time I think people started getting ultra shield tanky.
I think by now we had access to STFs and borg sets (which were harder to get back them, at least when pugging), but as you can see, I don't even have a borg console.
With regards to the positron deflector, prior to that I was just using a common one I think.
The engineering console setup is vastly improved since my last build. Both add to shield and hull tanking.
Boff powers:-
Only one RSP!!
Sadly also only one EPtS.
Finally Aux2SIF3! Finally a useful Cmdr engineer skill.
Judging by my boff setup, my intention was to hold the target in a tractor beam, debuff his hull with attack pattern beta, use beam overload to take a shield facing down and get a hull hit with a buffed torpedo.
It's not an all that great build, but it's better then the first two, way better.

I had some pretty effed up builds myself.
Weapons: 2 Tetryon Dual Heavy Cannons, 1 Plasma Dual Heavy cannon. CrtH, CrtD, Accs across the board. 1 Plasma Torpedo Launcher. You see back then plasma wouldn't kill the guy firing it. FAW wasn't that plentiful, and really AOEs were just starting to be used in pvp. I was 90king people regularly. So what makes this exactly ****lulz? To run multiple energy types back then you had to spec into them. Each energy had different skill tiers as well. So I had ranks in both tetryon AND plasma, and still found room for torps. Somehow. Think about that, with as often as we run out of skill points with the current tree.
3 Tetryon Turrets.
Engine: Hyper Impulse Engine, Turn X2
Deflector, some purple graviton deflector
Shield, Covariant Cap 3
Consoles: Engineering +7 shield power, RCS Console
Sci: 3 Halon Consoles
Tactical, 2 Prefire Chambers 2 war head chambers.
Weapon power was like 115/100.. You see back then, I didn't run Weapon Performance, which was mandatory to get that last 9 weapon power. 50/25/25
Boff skills. APO3 (this was actually good back then, because APO3 added +50 percent damage strength to all weapons fire), CRF2, CRF1, Torpedo Highyield 1,
Attack Pattern Delta 2, HY2, Tac team.. tac team back then was not the power it is today... I think I was just filling out boff slots.
Looks great so far right? Other than weapon power being off? The ****lulz come in shortly.
Engineering ET1, RSP1.. Back then RSP had a 10 second duration with 30 second CD. No EPTS you ask? yeah. That's how crazy RSP was... back then I didn't really understand just how much that static resist value meant, and ran Shield Batteries, and a shield power bias during focus fire periods.
Sci: Tachyonbeam 1... Yeah seriously, this was on my first ship. No I didn't even eat aux batteries before firing it off. (too busy going through stack after stack of shield bats.. which back then we had to get from our klink toons) Hazard Emitters 2, Sci Team 1.
Now how on earth did this build work? I can only blame all of our general noobishness. This was my very first RA ship. Pvp was still new to most of us back then. I'll add subsequent contributions to this thread, so everyone can get a laugh.
The real changes, came with swapping everything over to Plasma. (i was still dual specced though, as I struggled to find DPS)
Sci skill changed to Tractor Beam, Polarize Hull, and Sci Team 2. There were a myriad of reasons for this 1 me starting to learn Resistances, 2, at the time PH was tac buffable. Which meant when my shields were down? Yeah you still weren't popping me if I ramped up my tac buffs properly. It got to be kind of a sick game honestly. I'd wait till I was at like 15 percent before popping GDF, and APA (fleet skills didn't exist back then). And watch my hull resist, break the hard cap, and completely ignore all incoming damage. And you thought Ablative Armor was awesome.
Tac skills remained the same, as did my engineering skills.
Tac Consoles, got changed to 3 Prefire Chambers (which used to give what Energy Consoles now give), and 1 warhead chamber.
Still those lolplas torps, despite the fact at the time, AOEs were really starting to be utilized.
The second build lasted for quite a long time. Right up until the original change to RSP came. Not only did I drop my dual energy spec, I also finally put ranks into Weapon Performance bringing my guns up to the 124 that everyone else had.
The Plas Torps, stayed on my build, just abit longer, though at this time I dual specced into Quantum torps and started using them more and more frequently.
EPTS1, found it's way onto my ship as did EPTS2, just before RSP got a kick in the junk. I realized just how awesome those two abilities were, when I was still tanking like a boss without RSP.
(and borg still hadn't come out yet either)
Sci Skills changed yet again, to Tractor Beam, ST1, and Transfer Shield Strength 2 for the first time.
Also this was the first time I started experimenting with new shields. I swapped Regen Regen3s on at one time.. didn't like them and put on Resilient Cap3s.... Bigred appreciated me doing that last swap, since the only thing people ever had to worry about with me was my shield strength, between the 5 percent absorption, and my still tac buffable Attack Pattern Delta 2s.
the Fourth build, was mostly a spec change. At this time I ditched Plasma torps for almost a full season for straight up quantums. Also, for the first time, Feed Back Pulse found it's way onto my ship... and between the Delta debuff also ramping up with my tac buffs, fbp being tac buffable, and an aux battery... well, lets just say I got a myriad of hate tells for being a Total ****. (and variations there of) It was shortly after this, that I started posting here on the forums.
#5 was a refling with plas torps, and not much else changing. Infact I made it all the way to season 4 on the same basic premise of my ship, other than going back to quantums, and adding Borg Gear along the way. Tac Team somewhere along the line became the mini rsp it is today so yeah I was grinning ear to ear that day.
My other toons on the other hand? Iceheart didnt' even exist yet, and Jeson? She had the same build I started her on, back then. Which I'll get to posting soonish.
#6? this really isn't respec #6 because honestly I dicked around. ALOT back then. It was not uncommon for a spec to last only a week before I'd change it slightly again and again. But this is really like the previous #s past #2, when 'major' changes came. During this time, I really got into the MVAM and put CPB2 on that badboy. I was hosing people left right and center and killing them all. Life was good.
#7 came after I returned, at the start of free to play, after a couple weeks I realized APO frankly got a kick in the junk. I mean a massive kick in the junk. APO3 went from +50 percent awesome hero power to.. a +30 percent add on. CRF3 does you far far better. I also swapped out from Torps upfront on my primary ship to a Dual Beam bank. Consequently, also consoles changed, making me run 4 energy consoles. Not only this.. but Thunder was finished being leveled and geared... who incorporated everything I learned about the new skill tree, current DPS methodology etc. But also Thunder wound up running a DBB instead of a torp. HYT1 and 2 were dropped for BO1 and 2. Delta got moved down to delta 1 for a CSV2 on my cmdr boff. (thats right no APO on my mvam!). Boffs changed again this time again in the sci dept. Instead of CPB2, I swapped for at first Gravity Well (then cryptic nerfed it! notice a trend here?) , then TBR2 (then cryptic introduced 75 percent repel resist!) and now, VM1, TBR1, and Polarize hull. With a dabbling of Tractor Beam, TSS2, and GW1. Or TSS1 2, and GW1
Also FBp2 for duels, coupled with TSS2 and Tractor beam 1.
Ive had more than fair share of crappie.
R.I.P
Yes, that's before the fabled Season 1.2. And I was an utter noob back then and hadn't really realized the full utility of that possibility then. I was not just a STO noob. I was a MMORPG noob.
