I just picked up a squad of adv orion slavers and ran infected and kitomer accord on normal with them and they didn't steal a commodity, a credit, or a contraband. are they broken?

It's some sort of rare proc. Don't expect to get a lot out of them. Like every thirty minutes I see "You recieved 250 EC" or suddenly I have astrometric probes from nowhere. They're not really actually useful for buliding up funds, it's just sort of a funny side-effect.
I have gotten contraband before, but just a piece or two from 3-4 days of using them.

There much point to using them? I been struggling with the idea of buying a set of Advanced Slavers.
Quantum mines should hit pretty hard. And it gives moar targets for TRIBBLE like borg heavy plasmas. But I can't say they're better than just advanced to'duvs.
Still working as of yesterday. The one hangar I have of them got me Warp Coils twice yesterday, and 320 EC in STFs. It is common to have them not give anything over the course of several STFs, though. Just comes down to luck.
With Advanced To'duj, you have multiple issues...
1) Common fighter type. People use them because they have to be good with that armament. If multiple users with the same pet confuses the AI, then having a common fighter type is a bad thing.
2) Forward-facing weapons. To'duj firepower is very concentrated, and they have to be pointed in the right direction to affect the bad guys. I can't guarantee they're always in that proper direction... whereas shuttle-type beam arrays are 360 degrees, and mines are just proximity (even if they come out the hind end).
Theoretically, the To'duj should be better. The way the AI clumps up or doesn't go towards the enemy, the Advanced Slavers have better weapons because it doesn't matter where they are facing.
/I've had them give me multiple Contraband in a single STF, and sometimes nothing... and I only have 1 wing of Advanced Slavers, and typically run BoPs (the B'rolth or the B'rel, depending on mood and allied force composition) alongside.
seems they are working now. Maybe it was a hotfix we didn't notice, but now they are stealing like I'd expected. Not a ton, but enough to justify using them. plus they are good anti-fighters.
As I understand it's a rare proc that requires time on target to actually get stuff. If you and four other people blow up the cube the slavers are attacking in less than a minute, then you won't have a good chance to get stuff.
If you go pve and circle a battleship for 2-3 min. then I think you would get better results. Just don't expect much from blowing up 15 fed ships each in a few seconds in pvp.
maybe there is a cap on how much contraband they will loot at first i was getting a good amount them nothing for ages and then it started dropping again.
or maybe just been reduced in patch and they didnt say so in notes
Seems to be just luck on if/when you get stuff looted. I've had them since the day after they came out, sometimes I get several coms and at least one EC notice, but other times I might not see anything for several STFs.
it is the luck of the draw some days i get 1 or 2 others ill get 18 in under 3 hours. I use them over the Frigate/Bop when doing probe duty due to the fact their mines. 12 Slavers tend to drop their mines in a line of the probe paths. Which means if i assist someone with killing a cube the mines damage the probes while i work. Its a nice bonus. but thats my opinion.
The amount they get is good if you compare it to zero loot.
IMO the tiny amount of loot doesnt make up for the loss of damage.
They aren't so bad with damage, their beams have a 360* arc so as long as they are in range they can always fire their weapons...same with mines as opposed to most fighters which have torps.

at one stage I had 65 contraband and 30 on the exchange...:D
now they are running low and I'm not getting the drops I used to..
with 6 toons every 2-3 hrs you collected 12,000 dith on top of other grinds over a week I was making 150,000-200,000 dith  soon adds up.
that paid for anumber of ships which means I and others did not have to spend real money on new ships.
no real money = no profit...
I think there has been a Contraband nerf KDF side, but mainly focused on the Marauding missions.
