Should starfleet use weapons?

Someone suggested I shouldn't run weapons on my FED escort. Seems like this isn't a great idea. Thoughts?

Instead of weapons starfleet ships could have coinference rooms. So instead of combat scenarios, they could simply hail the opposition and call them over for tea and crumpets in an effort to resolve the situation peacefully.
    Very Trek :D

I think we should properly test this theory...

    1 v 1

No Weapons only heals... and federation style passive weaponry like cpb.... we square off and go at it... if we both last 10 min or longer I would say, viability will be proven.

I am available for testing from 7:00 OMSST to 18:00 OMSST.

Judging from the typically **** poor damage your average Fed play brings (before complaining about the over powered Klinks), I'd say there is a significant amount of support for the no weapons build. The Academy needs to be shut down or something.

My ship the Indifference will have at thee!

On the other hand I just don't care all that much.

Funny with a ship name like that I would have assumed you cared madly. :)

I could see the no weapon build as viable, if they would rebuff ramming speed. :)

    You know what we need.

    A no weapons/shields/deflectors, P2W console match.

Nothing but "eject warp plasma", "ramming speed," and "abandon ship!"

The U.S.S. Passive Aggressive will call your bluff!

    Or maybe not, we'll see.

The USS Co-Dependent will support him, no matter what his decision is. :p

Does this mean we finally get that much requested tribble gun?

    edit: Forgot to ask:

If you have the U.S.S. Effexor and the U.S.S. Xanax those alone would calm down any Klingon attack without firing a shot.

Sigh, I miss those days where Ramming Speed was basically an "I lose but you do too!" button. I remember gunning it and nearly oneshotting some really resilient target that would have taken at least a minute (with my bad space skills back in the day) to kill conventionally.

I did it with fragile ships though, would the big bulky cruisers actually survive a ramming speed? I don't think I ever did.

That also makes me think, was Abandon Ship ever any good? Methinks it likely got nerfed (damage wise, at least) when they stopped people from basically spawn camping ESD's warp in point with an infinite chain of warp core explosions.

That was the most successful fleet event I ever hosted...

I have no idea what use it really was, I mean in PVP just because things look pretty ****, you're still goingto do better trying to wriggle out of the tractor beams and G-Wells then just throwing the finger at anyone in 3KM of you lol. Not that it'd work for me, when escorts blow up you might as well be ****ing in the wind.

Lol, Abandon Ship is working great now. You trade in your Atrox to starfleet (and 2000CPs), for your shiny new Armitage. Starfleet then changes your ships name to the U.S.S. Entitlement. They do doff misions in it and pass out contraband to the tutorial players, very democratic organization starfleet. :)
