i am level 34 captain using a cruiser i am also a tactical officer.
anyway the problem is when i play PvP against Klingons (space battle) i cant seem to beat them from my point of view there OP but i must be doing something wrong. my shields just drain really quickly and i feel like my weapons arnt doing anything to them
i use phaser at fore weapons
console for tactical is 21+ phaser damage i put 2 of them on. my shields are 4500 more or less with 6 sec reg.
anyways.
can anyone give me tips on how to beat these guys. i have to be doing something wrong and combos or perks/skills i should be using
If you post your full gear and list of bridge officer powers, we can probably figure out exactly where you're going wrong. You're in a cruiser, so, "I'm getting melted" is usually symptomatic of BOff and tactics problem.
General tips that more-or-less always apply:
Are you running at least two copies of Emergency Power to Shields 1? You can chain these end to end for a very useful increase in your shield durability (part comes from the resistance bonus of the power, and part from the higher resistance your shields will get for running at a higher level).
Do you have Tactical Team? Never take a copy higher than Tactical Team 1, and never leave home without at least one copy of it, as for 10 seconds it'll automatically redistribute your shields at lightning speed, transfer that power into your facing that's under attack.
Also, you need to have the best available gear for your level to succeed in PvP, and you need to redistribute your shields, redistribute your shields and redistribute your shields.

first of all, i love how you instantly think gear has something to do with it.
Don't you think it might be, that they are more experianced, have mor practise, or are just better?
Then, your bridgeofficer powers are essential to perform good in PVP or PVE...not the gear itself.
Your ship: forget cruisers...get an escort with your next ship token. Cruisers have no chance in taking out an escort at that level, if the guy in the escort uses atleast 2 heals.
after having done all the above you can think about the gear.

But he didn't instantly think that. You're just making that up. He asked what he was doing wrong and if there were perks or skills he should be using.
The advice in those threads although not directed squarely at level 34 will be helpful for you long term. The principles stay the same.
Here's the short version. You need to live longer so that you can watch and learn. Watch what is going on around you. Learn from it.
Get two copies of emergency power to shields. Get at least one copy of tactical team. Set your power to shields so that when using emergency power ability you are as close to 125 as possible. Rotate those abilities so that you are ALWAYS at highest shield power possible. Tactical Team is your panic button to strengthen the shield that is being attacked even if YOU don't know where fire is coming from. Use weapon battery for those times you want more damage but DO NOT mess with your shield power until you have more experience in survival.
Stay alive, pay attention, read combat logs or get a parser. It can be a fun learning experience.
Become familiar with them. They are very important. You are at a disadvantage if you have none. At least get 3 shield distribution Doff's as they will give a bonus to ANY ship that has a shield and uses brace for impact.
Cheers and happy flying!!
EDIT: What happens to ships that drop their defenses for a bit? This happens.

well, he only listed his equip...so i assume he thinks the error to be there.
But you guided him already into the right direction. he should do better with this guides.
Completely wrong. The only thing that needs to be really good at levels below RA/VA is the shield.
Yeah I can for sure vouch for this. A lot of time as i am leveling I will pvp in a tier lower ship and reuse that same gear and still stomp the other team. Basically low level pvp is how bad is the other team gonna be and how much healing do I need to do in my escort. Lots of times I am keeping my cruisers alive and still doing 3x everyone's dps. Enjoy lower level pvp those are the fun times before VA.
As far as why you can't beat Klingons at tier 3 a fully cloaked kdf team can focus on one target and there is nothing you can do about it. At captain of course the same thing occurs but your ships should have the strength and ability to survive it. Ra rank is a very good warmup for va pvp in fact at level 45 you can have your endgame mk 12 gear equipped if you like.
But it sounds to me like you are just getting on TRIBBLE teams. As always you are bound by your teammates skill ande willingness to play as a team or lack thereof. More often than not low level pvp is decided by whichever team has the most veteran pvpers wins. Usually it's just me and f2p noobs across the board when I level.

Stay close to the rest of the team and avoid one on one unless you have the upper hand .
