I didn't see a reference to this yet, so I thought I would post it. As I was perusing the front page news today, I found an article about James Doohan and the recent SpaceX rocket:

I always love to see new references to Doohan. He was a great guy, and an amazing actor. And I'm glad to see he eventually got his wish.

Where do they keep getting the ashes from? This is like the third time and the remaining amount was supposed to have been dumped into the bay....

<Tin foil>It's got to be cloning material. Only answer that fits....</tin foil>

Let's all temporarily forget this FE fiasco, and enjoy the lighter side of Star Trek for now ;)

"Ashes of 'Star Trek' actor on private rocket

    http://edition.cnn.com/2012/05/24/showbiz/spacex-scottys-ashes/index.html?hpt=hp_t3

(CNN) -- In the end, it was Scotty who got beamed up.

The ashes of late actor James Doohan, who played chief engineer Montgomery Scott in the original "Star Trek" television series and a series of subsequent films, were on the SpaceX rocket that launched a private spacecraft into orbit this week.

    ...

some of Doohan's cremated remains were among 320 sets on the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched Tuesday."
[Editor's comment: Cremated ashes to be released out into space].

They're sending a little vial with like one gram of his ashes. Most cremations of adults produce like a liter or so of ash.

Good to know. I'll save a mountain dew can and a shoe box to save my family money on a funeral :)
