First let me share my thanks to the STO crew for this beautiful addition to the KDF.
Sincerely, from the cold black pit where my heart use to be: I thank you. I will gladly chip in to show you my appreciation for your efforts: I'm getting this ASAP Thursday morrning. Bo's, and PC's.
Also, thanks for giving Feds the incentive to pick these up, with the unlockable Caitian cosmetic options.
Now, let's compare this species to the Caitians and determine which class best suits the species, and how to maximize it's given traits.
Caitian-specific traits:-
Feline Instincts:
* 10% chance to dodge half damage of Ranged attacks
* +75% Jump Height
* + 10% Perception
* + 10% Exploit Damage
Known Ferasan-specific traits:Predatory Instincts:
* + 75% Jump Height
* +5% Perception
* +5% Melee Damage
* +10% Exploit Damage
The difference between the two being:
*Caitians have 10% chance to dodge half damage of Ranged attacks (a relatively GOOD advantage)
*Caitians have an additional 5% Perception (again, a relatively GOOD advantage)
*Ferasans have +5% Melee Damage (Weaksauce as Melee = weak and rarely used effectively anyways)
Before you nitpick on 5% Perception, I use to test Stealth / Perception w/ Dr, Kid and I can tell you from experience, as it comes to a showdown between a Tac and a Sci, 5% use to be the diff between getting one-shotted w/out knowing it or not. It actually IS kind of a big deal, whereas the melee damage... not so much.
And no, this isn't a whine / gripe / complaint, this is just stating the obvious.
Class:
The class I feel Ferasans are best suited for would be either Sci or Tac, given that Eng's don't have an inherent ability that boosts Perception (Sci has Tricorder Scan, essential in the Stealth / Perception game between Tac / Sci).
Preferred Additional Traits: (Given you're making a Ground-oriented toon)
*-Acute Senses: +10% Perception , + 10% Exploit Damage
*-Covert: (For the Tac's) +20% Stealth , + 10% Exploit Damage
*-Lucky: +3% Crit Chance (Works for Expose only, does NOT stack w/ other Exploit buffs)
*-Physical Strength: +10% Melee Damage (Best way to capitalize on %5Melee damage, if any-unsure)
*-Soldier: +5% all Energy Damage , + 10% Crit Severity (Best if paired w/ 'Lucky')
*-Telekinetic: 25 meter range, 0.75 sec activate, 1min recharge, 15 Physical Damage, Knocks Back 30 meters. (Best if used w/Physical strength, as -strange as that sounds- as it's still Phys Damage. The knockback though / chance to Expose is what's best, and the great range / relatively short CD. Another trait that might be well paired w/'Lucky')
*-Telepathic: +10% Perception, +1.5% Expose Chance, +1 Sec Expose Duration
These are just some thoughts / suggestions...
Anyways, I'm really looking forward to Ferasans and testing out some Ground builds again

Thanks, Cryptic!

IMHO, I bet the KDF will be gone within the next 6 months unless cryptic "man-ups" and gives us a nice chunk of content, races, etc without any cost.
We are going no where
As to the new cat type , I'll put it on my "to Buy list" but its going to have to wait till every existing character has their C store ship
I agree completely! Well, except for the cold black pit part...
Anyway, this what I am talking about. Just put it in the C-store and I will pick it up. None of this stupid chance to win TRIBBLE you have been pushing. I go in, I buy it, if I find a use for it; great. Charge what you want, but stop the stupid lock boxes and stop misrepresenting the items in it and violating consumer rights.
I will be buying mine as soon as I get home from work, first thing!!
Can't wait to see what you add next...
I'm willing to bet there will be a vessel available for the Ferasans soon enough.
it would be nice to see a Ferasan boff, ship, and uniform bundle released. I totally prolly mabye buy that perhapse.
Yes, with battle cloak to help take out that Cait carrier! How about battle cloaked torpedo's too?
this ferasan thing seems like intentionally hitting someone over the head & breaking your hammer, saying sorry for accidentally hitting you on the head, and demanding payment for the hammer.
Dog headed humanoids with HUGE Teeth (and no im not joking someone was talking about this at DS9 half an hour ago)
I would personally prefer something more original though the cloaking torpedo sounds fun.:D
That's one of the sunnier sides of the KDF, blasting all the neat species Feds have. KDF gets to shoot-up Caitians, so, it'd be fair play. As for now, though, the only Fereasan I've seen in game is the console vendor at the shipyard (he's blue-must be lonely
That's what's up! Kinda feels like this species just landed on us -POOF! here ya' go!- w/out any explanation or backstory or anything.
All the other species have a pretty detailed account of how they came to be aligned (conquered) by the KDF, I'm curious as to how Ferasans came to be included as well. Even a mission or two, could maybe add some Lore for the KA dailies...
I'd like to see more episodes period. Like the whole udine story line has dropped. Like we learn there are impostors, but now we are ignoring them.
That is because the Undine have replaced all the devs at Cryptic, so now we're being encouraged to forget that Undine exist...
Roach-
Much respect, seriously. You are totally my hero for the way you have fearlessly and shamelessly championed the KDF cause here in these forums. You are the man. (Klingon?)
But...could you perhaps explain the quote above a bit, for those of us who are newer to STO (in the 90-120 days bracket myself), and don't have the in-depth knowledge that you grognards have? I've read it like 5 times and I'm still scratching my head in puzzlement...
Edit... The jumping now seems to be working was just odd at first that it wouldn't work...
dAMNIT!!! I was hoping for a A2Sif3 variant as well to counter the special Andorian that the feds have.:(
Basically they are a cut and paste of the caitians with yes you guessed it standard kdf attire. I was more hoping for something more on the telepathic side besides the perception thing. Its something new none the less even if its just the standard cut and paste mentality.
Does anyone know the available optional traits? I would eventually buy it down the line if there's some combo of accurate/efficient/elusive/warp theorist available.
