Okay, the Klingons have always been portrayed as Militant (TOS) and Warrior (TNG+).

We know the Andorians are also fairly militant. And the Naussicans are portrayed such as well.

What other species in Star Trek are known to be warrior and/or militant? I'm looking for a warrior/military species that's not as well known as the major ones.

Thanks for any input. :)

What are the Kazon - militant or warrior? (best ignored is not a valid answer, even if we'd all like to say that.)

The Kazon always struck me as a less develpoed Klingon race for some reason. Or.. Klingons with big hair doos.

I'd lean more towards warrior if it was me, but I can't say for sure.

The Talarian Republic can be added to the ones already listed. There was a small war with them pre-TNG at some point, and the featured in an episode of TNG.

There's also the Tzenkethi, refernces to them are few and far between, as are details of what they even look like. Ben Sisko was in the Tzenkethi war though, and the Dominion tried to reignitie it when they took control of the Defiant one time with a Founder.

Warrior-race would "fit" best, however I'd consider them a nomadic race with primitive traditions (after the rebellion against their former opressors, the Trabe).

They do not know much about technology or science, hence they use their (stolen) ships rather bad.

I never understood why Janeway didn't destroy the caretaker-array by beaming over the tricobalt-devices set on time-detonation so someone could activate the array to carry Voyager back to the alpha quadrant right at the beginning... the Kazon wouldn't have been able to disarm the torpedoes anyway.

    For the Cardassians:
On Star Trek:Bridge Commander, Miguel (your Science officer) makes a remark about the cardassians as a warrior race while some Galor-class vessels attack a defenseless station.

    Edit:

As for the warrior-races, I'd also consider adding the Tamarians. The Episode "Darmok" from TNG was undoubtably about comminication-related issues, and the Tamarians were not exactly aggressive on their own, but as they're armed with daggers and respond to beam-outs with firing their weapons on you, they appear to have the tendency to being a warrior-race.

The Kzinti (better known as Ferasans is STO) are a VERY militant race.

Well the Kzinti are a mess because they are from Larry Niven series Known Space, not really a Star Trek race.

And yes, Larry Niven did write for TAS and that is why they got in but since IP is usually a mess and so some parts of TAS cannot be used because they dont exactly own it to grant the licensing to 3rd parties.

Not that I was going to ignore the Kazon, but, the Kazon were one race that the Borg saw fit *not* to assimilate. So, they don't fit for my purposes anyway.

    Thanks though!

Eh, I'd say the Ferasans would be Lyrans (as they're the Klingon allies), and Caitians would be the Kzinti analogue.
