Sorry, but some of us don't like Facebook or their policies.
PIty that STO isn't officially represented on Google+.

    I would totally +1 STO on G+. ;)

Yep! Anyone who has "liked" the page before the date and time above is eligible :)

    Cheers,

Instead of winning Cryptic points, can you just reward us with no more lottery boxes? That would be a much better prize.

I don't think they'd have another way to allow entry into the contest. I don't have a Facebook account either (and never will). That said, I'm not sure I would mark 'like' on something that currently is in a dubious state for me even if I had said account.

You don't like facebook or their policies so you take refuge at Google... the company that invented using your private info for their own purposes.?

    *giggle*

    I thought the same thing.

But seriously, so long as you are wise with the information you choose to share with the world (I'd recommend beginning with lying about your date of birth...) then privacy concerns can be addressed.

Sadly, the way the media world is going, you won't be able to do much outside of a social network before long. Best find ways to deal with it.

    /tinfoilhat.

I will personally never understand the people who share their entire life story on a network that is probably, inevitably, going to be TRIBBLE eventually. Sony proved just how laughable the concept of "Cloud = Security" is, and as soon as these companies wake up to the fact that hackers are two steps ahead of bureaucratic IT departments, the better off we'll all be.

This said, BranFlakes, even if I did 'Like' you on Facebook, the amount of misrepresentation on my accout would probably lead you to ask for 100 points of ID. :p

For a myriad of obvious reasons, my Facebook details are not the same one I use for this game. Will I still be eligible?

Btw Koppenflak, love the sig. :D

I'm more concerned about what the company themselves will do with it--e.g. sell it. Why exactly are we not entitled to royalty payments for the sale of our information, the same as we would be if for example we posted a short story that we wrote and they sold that? Apparently telling the company when and where you were born and what things you like constitutes giving them ownership of that information as far as the rights to sell and use it go. If the company is going to sell my data, then I want at least 20% of the money that they are making from doing so--or is it somehow not legally my data?

At the risk of going off topic (I'd be happy to take this to PMs) the topic of the ownership of personal information is, interestingly, something being challenged in the European Union right now.

If it goes the way most people seem to think it will (Europeans love this stuff) then Facebook's policies in Europe may have to be drastically changed.

I haven't looked at my Facebook page since the day I opened it...

This is not enough of an incentive to do so now.

Meh doesn't take much (read: any) effort, and unlike a lockbox I have nothing to lose.

Hell I'll give it a shot. That 2000 cp prize would get me the Atrox and I could still hold to my principles that the Atrox should have been released with a unique Caitian bridge or only sold for 1600 without it.

5000cp prize, Atrox, A co bridge for it and master keys, all for liking something on facebook....sure why not.

I certainly won't create a Facebook account, only because of STO.
And even if i had one i would think twice about "liking" STO as it is now.

Btw. I never understood the point of Facebook anyways.

    Live long and prosper.

I must agree with you as well. I refuse to use FaceBook, MySpace, Moco, or any other 'Social Networking' site out there. The closest I come to that is using Yahoo. I could definately use any of the three prizes, but find the push to use facebook everywhere I turn a major disapointment.

Facebook is a wonderful tool for organizing class reunions... Kinda hard to find your old classmates after 10 years when some of them are in uganda... I have to admit FB was great for getting in touch with them.

But thats pretty much where it's usefulness ends...

And... Fortunally there is no one forcing you to sign up... chances are you wont get the point anyways.
