So, this morning I learned that the upcoming JJ Abrams Star Trek Sequel is being filmed right where I work here in
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
It's really exciting.
For those that don't know, LLNL is home of the World's Largest Laser System-
The National Ignition Facility. For more info, here's the
main webpage.
Just a few weeks ago, we beat the 1.8+MJ mark and we're well on our way to acheiving another another milestone in 2MJ. We're really close to acheiving ignition (as in getting more energy out than what we put in) and when that happens, the whole world changes.
Cheers!

How she would have loved to have seen this...
Be sure to punch emo-Spock for us if you see him.
edit: Okay, don't actually because he's supposed to have 10 times your strength and all.
I used to design my own reactors on paper (I know they wouldn't work).
Thank you so much for what you do and for bringing us that much closer to a real life Trek world.
Jobs available at LLNL.
Thanks but I need a degree for all of those jobs
