From yesterday's Blog: In addition to this new carrier, starting Thursday, we are introducing rare (blue) quality fighter-pets into the Dilithium store -- these will be available for both factions. More information about these will be revealed in the patch notes that will be posted Wednesday evening.

    :)

    Cheers,

    Brandon

JamJamz mentioned something in another thread about the kitty carrier having different visual patterns to the ship. Any screenies or info on that?

Ok guess I will have to wait, but this blog was still nice blog telling people the basics of a carrier.

I say remove this blog. Klingons never got a blog telling us how to use the new carrier controls. I say let the Feds stumble around in the dark a bit, i mean they're explorers right? It's what they like to do :p

Yes, things I already KNOW ... failed to mention what EXACTLY are the Caitian Stalker Fighters. In fact I am even going to ask if they are not going to end up as flyable small craft.

Still nothing on if this has it's own unique bridge and decks or if it uses the standard fed ones yet?

I don't know about anyone else but the bridge and decks on the D'kyr were a major disappointment to find out they weren't Vulcan and not even going to remotely consider buying this until I know. The fighters are just as bad *** and nice looking as the ship thou, so good job on that part of it.

You can purchase different types of support craft from the shipyard, and your shipyard also has a vendor who sells advanced support craft for Refined Dilithium.

Ooh. . .hopefully non-carrier craft can buy these too! :D Please?

Can we get the new fighter craft as a shuttle sized ships for us to fly? They are very awesome.

    Most likely not.
Well it shouldn't anyways. The Kar'fi doesn't get a special bridge.

Whats intrigued me most is the second photo in the blog seems to show an energy blast coming from the port hanger bay, could this be a hidden treat :)

Yeah, but the Kar'fi* is a Klingon ship.. so who cares, really?

    -runs and hides-

*I have a few KDF characters who use the Kar'fi. I wish it had a special bridge of its own. Although, to be honest, it did come out before special bridges were common. That being said, having a Kar'fi specific bridge would be excellent.

Okay, I'm willing to give it a go. It's almost enough for me to change my title from "Captain" to "Vice Admiral" and give him a carrier command.

It will seriously detract from his exploration and colonization duties as a carrier is designed for the battlefront, but it will be a radical change of command as up to now, I've spent most of my time in an assault cruiser. (Even getting used to my Klingon Alt's escort was a major learning curve, looking forward to the new challenge.)

*** And for those who stated a thoron device is not very Fed-like. Thoron particles obscure sensor scans. Meaning it's essentially a counter measures package designed to prevent the carrier from being detected in some form. This is NOT to be confused with the THALARON devices employed by the scimitar which irradiates it's opponents to oblivion. ***

I think the current in-game "Sovereign" style bridges are quite adequately large enough to command a fighter carrier and coordinate each of its squadrons.

I'm not counting on a caitian bridge for this ship. If they do, it will be a real surprise for me.

The blog itself didn't brought anything new since I had already played a carrier on tribble during F2P beta. But the screenshots were very good. The ship is really beautifull. It remembers me Andromeda (from the series Andromeda). A ship that I always thought was beautifull.

The Klingon Carrier isn't very Trek either, because in Canon, the Klingons didn't have carriers. Letting Federation fly Cardassian and Ferengi ships isn't very trek either. So I think at this stage of the game, "not very trek" is irrelevant.

Depending on your ship, certain fighters may not be available to you – for instance, only the Klingon Vo’Quv can carry Bird-of-Prey frigates as its support craft.

Are any of the existing Hangars going to be cross-faction? I see no real reason to restrict Power Siphon Drones or Shield Repair Drones to KDF. I can see To'Duj Fighters, the mentioned in the post BoPs and Fek'Ihri Frigates (Kar'fi only anyway) being limited to KDF, though, and the rest are bind on pickup so can't be sent across factions anyway. Also, will the new dil-store hangars be trade-able?

Edit: Looks like my questions, more or less, are answered in today's Tribble release notes:
All Carrier pets are now considered Green Quality.
This does not affect their performance in any way.
Any Carrier Pet Purchased in the Store can now be traded, unless that pet required ownership of a specific carrier.
Fighters no longer turn friendly to enemy players if their carrier gets more than 30km away.
New Blue/Rare Quality carrier pets are now available for Dilithium.
You must own a C-store Carrier in order to buy the pets that are associated with that Carrier.

For instance, you must own Orion Marauder to buy any quality Orion Marauding Force hangar pet.

Binding rules have changed for store carrier pets.

If it is a carrier pet associated with a C-Store carrier, it is always Bind on Pickup.
Only Green/Uncommon quality carrier pets that are not associated with a C-Sore carrier is Bind on Equip and Tradable.
All Rare carrier pets are Bind on Pickup.

Green/Uncommon quality carrier pets that are associated with C-Store carriers can always be bought/reclaimed for free from the carrier store

    Blue/Rare quality still costs Dilithium.

I'm not saying none of the fed bridges are good enough to serve the needs of a carrier at all. What I'm saying is this is NOT a Starfleet ship, just like the Vulcan D'kyr is NOT a Starfleet ship. Both The D'kyr and this new carrier should have their own unique Vulcan and Caitian ship interiors because those are the races these ships belong to. They weren't made in some StarFleet shipyard. I understand now that the D'kyr was put in the game before individual interiors were possible, and I did find a bridge that mostly fits the styling of the ship.

This new Carrier is sleek, sexy, bad ***, mean, tough, and eloquent all at the same time, and definitely not StarFleetish, it deserves it's own Caitian interior to match the exterior and would be a huge step towards creating better immersion in the game.

You´d said the same on the defiant before it apeared on screen i bet. i like the design, and i can see that there went some thinking in it, for example the plating on the neck and other details have a starfleet pattern to them. its definitely no star wars ship. and dont forget this is 2409, not 2370 anymore - so there has to be some evolution and variation in the design and ship classes itself.

but yes, not everybody has to like it. i do :)

and please let it have a special bridge. if you´re going for an non-common outside look, it has to have that inside, too.

Atrox does not have a unique bridge. I cant recall offhand what bridge it comes with.

Atrox will not share the same pets as the Klingons. There are 6 (green and blue quality for each) including the Stalker. They are different than Klingon pets. Klingons get blue quality versions of all the current klingon carrier pets.

Note that all existing carrier pets have had thier quality color changed to Green for consistency purposes. This in no way changed their effectiveness - it was just a color change. So Green come with a carrier, and more green pets can be bought with EC. Blue quality pets can be purchased for dilithium. Purples are not available. You must own a carrier to qualify to buy a pet. For instance, you must have the Orion Marauder to buy either the green or blue quality Marauding force carrier pets.

Ill try to get you a complete list of new carrier pets for both factions.

    oh and
. Purples are not available. .
is this something that could change in the future?
Like Purples being buyable with EDC for "Anti-Borg" pets?

I know you can't really pull a name out of a hat nowadays without it being used elsewhere, however where did you come up with the name? I know Atrox is latin and sort of means horror, or cruel but its also the name of an androgynous breed in Anarchy Online.
