It All Makes Sense! (Samuel L. Jackson as "Nick Fury")

Please read the now finished Battle Scars from the Marvel Universe!

This 6 issue story completely explains soooo much it blew my very mind in the last 2 pages. It's just....WOW, it's one of the most well crafted, thoughout thing that Marvel has ever made in decades.

Spoilers for those who do not wish to purchase the comic series (summary includes parts of the said last 2 pages of issue #6):

The "Nick Fury" (notice the quotes I'm putting) we know now form the lastest Marvel movies form the past couple years with Samuel L. Jackson acting is infact.......Nick Fury's SON. Yes the Original Nicholas Fury that fought during WWII and being kept alive with the Infinity Serum had secretly fathered a child (Well more than one...this son is the only living one).

Marcus aka "Nick Fury" had been tracked down by some high up villians who had it for the Original Nick Fury, at one point both were captured and Marcus (Nick) got his eye cut out, "I don't see the family resemblance......now I do" (paraphrased).

Also Agent Coulson is explained too. He was Marus's best friend and in the end, he went from a semi-goofy fellow Ranger who served overseas alon Marcus to the serious agent we know from the films.

In all honesty I recommend the small series; it'd only be a little over $20 or so anyway.

Hmm, makes sense now. And I was wondering why they didn't use David Hassel.... HAHAHAHA, I couldn't say that with a straight face. :p

Yeah, I was thinking that. But he was Sgt. Fury of the Howling Commandos(WWII) My war vet grandfathers are deceased from old-age.Would'nt Abe Vigoda be a better fit?Or Keith Richards? Guy has looked like a rotting corpse for the las 20 years.

    Simple answer
can't risk offending people by having an all white cast in these things

    Facts folks
but if they REALLY wanted a black leader of Shield why didn't they use Director Fisher (ok who is old enough to REMEMBER him?)

Well that is the obvious reason yes, but you have to admit, this series was a very good and non BS reason to to randomly turn "Nick Fury" black I can tell a nice amount of effort was put into the story of this series too. Starts off asa total "WTF is happening" form the point of view of a Ranger stationed overseas to a "This is my new life / duty."

    Just loved the story.

You do know that the Sam Jackson as Nick Fury thing started in the Marvel Ulitimate universe years ago right? The artists were drawing Fury to look like Jackson there long before the movies, and before anyone even asked Jackson himself about it. Battle Scars was just a way to get the new Nick into the regular Marvel universe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_Nick_Fury

    Stopped me reading them actually

Gender or race swaps are abominations

Characters can DIE but the replacement needs a new name and identity

Imagine watching star trek and Captain Kirk is a Chinese woman
For no real reason other than the weakness and racism of the new director

This is the truth. Nothing to do with face swaps or "Racism/Affirmative Action" card that some people in this thread actually play. Marvel purposely used Ultimates Nick in the movies to capitalize on the fame of Sam Jackson.

Marvel on occasion like to retcon the 616 Universe to include elements from the movie so that they can capitalize on younger readers. Which is what the OP is noticing from that series.

True, but...I still can't take the Ultimate Universe seriously in most instances, Marvel Universe...I don't know, maybe because I'm just fond of the older ones progressing more than the Ultimates.

James bond is a code name used by the most expendable and politically incorrect agent Mi6 has at any given time

(see casino royale the real version not the modern remake for details)

A character who is white should STAY white and a character who is Black should STAY black
Felix and James bond are proof that the film industry does not believe in genetics

And don't get me started on Doctor who

Hi, try not to unintentially get this thread closed please, I jsut felt like posting my excitement that the Marvel Universe finally made a story for this; don't kill this for me please.

But just to talk about the Dr. Who thing. He was supposed to be different bodies / persons over time and I believe the last one is supposed to be a women. Dr. Who is supposed to be multiple people.
But yeah, anyone who wants to start to turn this thread down into the ground should stop / not post here. I'm a huge fan against randomly changing actors for non contract reasons, but yeah, this thread is just for a "Finally they made a story behind it or 'That's cool' ."

Here's an interview of Tom Breevort about Battle Scars, and bringing Jackson's Fury in to the mainstream Marvel universe.
