I was excited about this... but the time gating is pretty much guaranteeing I will never get to play this.
I'm a casual player with a casual fleet scattered across the world... coordinating a group of 5 people to play a shuttle mission without being able to schedule it on our own time... yeah.
is this a timed event, meaning it's only available at certain times. I hope not. I tend not to have much luck scheduling time to participate in timed events. I keep missing them. I've only been lucky enough to do the defera ground invasion event twice, and the first time, i was only in there for 5 minutes before it ended
I think this is another event added to the event cycle, like the mirror invasion. Nothing indicates it's only for a limited time. The mission itself is probably timed, hence 'fast paced.'
Looking forward to this, sounds most excellent Mr Flakes dude!
During the event, you will need to protect Obisek's ship as he works to override the command codes and hack into Romulan control systems. But this isn't a one-man job players will need to work together to help Obisek with tasks that arise as he initializes the override sequence. Listen for his instructions during this fast-paced, timed event.
So is this a new permanent, regularly scheduled event that requires 5 players and work in a similar manner to STFs, utilizing timers, possibly have optional objectives as well? Will teaming allow for Fed and KDF officers to work together?
The Vault was originally rigged for PvP correct? IS this map still planned to be used for PvP?

That's what the REDALERT global chat channel is for...
Oh joy, something I've been waiting for for a while...and its another event that has timeslots. Well, time to try and predict the pattern so I can request a day off 2 weeks in advance when its not going to be in the dead of night.
So are these datacores going to drop like batteries, or drop like prototype salvage?

How does that channel help me get my fleet members to know when a timeslot exists up to 6 days from now so that we can all make arrangements to spend the few hours for STO we have at the same time... at that timeslot?
If this is time-slot only event I will never see it unless it drops in the 2hour window a day I get to play.
If its an always availible event that just has a time limit to beat to complete it, then thats different and I will look forward to it, after work and during my little window of play time.

The whole fleet organization thing is really down to you and your fellow fleet members, I can't help you with that...
The chat channel, being the biggest in the game and for the topic of events will however help you pick up a group (PUG) for the event when none of your fleet members are online but you are online.
Cryptic seriously needs to stop going down the path of "events" that are only active at certain times. The already existing ones weren't too bad, as they are mostly just relatively rewarding fun diversions that aren't required for "completion" of the game, but one that gives purple Mk XII space gear? Not cool. Any queued event with that type of rewards should always be available, except for a cooldown after each run like the STFs have. (Edit: Even if, for balance reasons, it's decided the cooldown must be one day, or two.)
A game that dictates "you must play the game at this specific time to acquire the best stuff" deserves to rapidly lose the respect, patience and custom of its players. If STO wants to be part of our lives it should fit in around our lives, not the other way around.
Everyone has a day off from work so everyone should be able to play, if you don't, you need to find another job. If your fleet is so small that you can't get 5 people together at any given time, you need to recruit or go find another fleet. Besides, it's a que event so you'll be provided teammates if you can't find your own. Your personal scheduling conflicts are not relevant to anyone else and shouldn't be included in feedback. Complaining for the sake of complaining is a waste of everyone's time.

I completely agree and CAN speak for those in the fleet I am in.
I mean the Borg ground invasion was bad enough .... NOW THIS!!!
So in order to play this mission with friends, we need a perfect alignment of the planets:
Enough friends must be on at the same time.
You need to want to play the mission.
They need to want to play the mission.
The mission needs to actually be available.
Once all the planets have aligned, you might be able to play once every other month. The first three bullet points are hard enough to get without throwing the gated mission time into the mix.
Nice mission, BUT:
- when F2P launched and a lot of people raged on the forums, I was defending Cryptic, and saying that a change doesn't have to be a bad change. But I stand corrected. Casual players and lifers are slowly but SURELLY being forgot. What is up with a timed event? I'm in EU and ussually these time slots are not EU friendly ( with some exceptions lattely). But I choosed to play as a lifer because I want to be able to login when I have time ( because I actually work for a living) and play cassually. This game is starting to be a grinding game. NOT COOL AT ALL.
I'm starting to be dissapointed.

And can we call this an STF or is it much easier?
I HOPE it is ALWAYS available.

Thanks, Cryptic!

Anyone notice this line? ... You take on it?

Yes, this is permanent, but it's only available when the event is running. You'll see it on the mission journal so you know when it is running.
While the times will change from week to week, here are the times that should* be for tomorrow and Friday:
Friday at 1pm PDT and 5pm PDT (these times are PDT)
Cheers,

wait, its in time slots? ya know, we do have lives...try making them more often or, and this one is a really great idea... NOT HAVING THEM TIME GATED!
those of us that have full time jobs, family, etc... we dont plan our lives around a couple of hours for a mission. it should be the other way around.
yet another 1/2 TRIBBLE$ed attempt. c'mon guys, start making good use of that money youre making off of us for Q's sake...
oh well, at least it is something new. gotta give credit for that. i guess.
Sad Face
Thank you.. useless for me and most of the hispanic players..
Why dont just give it a cooldown like the STFs??
What the hell?! Is it too much to ask that we be able to play the game at a time that fits our schedules and not when Cryptic says we can?
Time gated events are not cool at all. Why would anyone even think this is a remotely good idea?

I'm shutting up now before I get banned again.
7pm PDT, so that 10pm CST and 5pm PDT is 8pm CST.
I can try it but the Wifey will not be happy (it gets into her foot washing time). I'm gonna give her you desk number at Cryptic:p
OH YOu in trouble now. She ain't happy (imagine abusty ****ed off Orion female with raging pheromones)
Its still 650-590-xxxx, right?

The minus is...another type of currency that will fill our inventories....
